Acid Rap is a happy sounding album about darkness. It's sort of a mix of everything that Chicago has to offer and the experiences of Chano. I really don't think that Chance could make another song let alone EP or even album like this. It's just so joyfully dark.

Ye really feels like it was thrown together at the last moment and it's rather DARK. Really poor mastering throughout like I guess it could be considered a stylistic choice but it's just annoying really. The production is fine but it sort of tries to be like The Life of Pablo but just not quite all there. I sort of feels like Kanye doesn't want to be associated with the almost-orchestral production that he's famous for and it's not like it's minimalistic like Jeezus either. I don't really know if this was to be the finished product but I don't really think it received the Kanye fit and finish. The lyrics really really recent which I think supports that this album was rewritten/redone. Most bars are fine, some cheesy(It's Kanye though) but some are just really weird. "Violent Crimes" is literally about his daughter growing up very attractive with bars like "I pray that you don't get it all at once/Curves under your dress, I know it's pervs all on the net". Ye is weird yo like ?/5

Daytona is pretty good and you guessed it rather dark and gritty like everything this week somehow. Pusha T lyricism/word play/double entendres are just so good. Really dark production that sort of sounds evil for good reason. Pusha just about goes after everyone and everything including the industry, politics, etc. Pusha T = rather good

If you know you know and hard piano were some that I liked from Daytona. Production is different and pusha does go hard on everything.

Ye was good for sure just a shortwinded update on Kanyes current state, the songs are nice but ehhhhhhhhh idk somethings not hittin it for me

Fuck it dude just review all the G.O.O.D Friday albums that are dropping on Friday, they all so far are great. I'm excited for the Nas album that is dropping on Friday, Kanye has the ability to chop up samples and create insane beats that Nas seems to excel on. I fucking can't wait

[Week 5]A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory(Hip Hop)
(Wikipedia)

Background/Review(AllMusic)

While most of the players in the jazz-rap movement never quite escaped the pasted-on qualities of their vintage samples, with The Low End Theory, A Tribe Called Quest created one of the closest and most brilliant fusions of jazz atmosphere and hip-hop attitude ever recorded. The rapping by Q-Tip and Phife Dawg could be the smoothest of any rap record ever heard; the pair are so in tune with each other, they sound like flip sides of the same personality, fluidly trading off on rhymes, with the former earning his nickname (the Abstract) and Phife concerning himself with the more concrete issues of being young, gifted, and black. The trio also takes on the rap game with a pair of hard-hitting tracks: "Rap Promoter" and "Show Business," the latter a lyrical soundclash with Q-Tip and Phife plus Brand Nubian's Diamond D, Lord Jamar, and Sadat X. The woman problem gets investigated as well, on two realistic yet sensitive tracks, "Butter" and "The Infamous Date Rape." The productions behind these tracks aren't quite skeletal, but they're certainly not complex. Instead, Tribe weaves little more than a stand-up bass (sampled or, on one track, jazz luminary Ron Carter) and crisp, live-sounding drum programs with a few deftly placed samples or electric keyboards. It's a tribute to their unerring production sense that, with just those few tools, Tribe produced one of the best hip-hop albums in history, a record that sounds better with each listen. The Low End Theory is an unqualified success, the perfect marriage of intelligent, flowing raps to nuanced, groove-centered productions.
