The 77y would like to reserve the name Bavarian Reserve Infantry Regiment 16.
We will be setting up on launch and probably bringing a lot of guys with us.

Just leaving this here for safekeeping.

Spoiler

The Kings Royal Rifle Corps is a regiment of the 3rd division, British army. During the Great War the regiment fought on three fronts in 22 Battalions. The Western front, the Italian and the Macedonian front. During the war the regiment lost Twelve thousand eight hundred and forty men dead with seven Victoria Crosses and a further 2000 other decorations awarded. The regiment itself gained a further sixty battle honours on top of what had already been earnt over 158 years of active service.
At the infamous battle of the Somme the Regiment fared much better than most of the British army capturing most of it's objectives. At Courcellette in September the 18th battalion lost it's Commanding Officer, Adjutant, Signalling and Trench Mortar Officers in a single artillery strike, nevertheless the battalion fought hard, gaining more ground than any other regiment present at the Somme. On the 4th of April,1917, the 10th & 11th battalions were able to fight in the best Rifles tradition as the regiment would have a hundred years prior in the Peninsula. The two battalions attacked at 2 p.m. over quite open ground in a snowstorm; about half-way to the village the snow lifted and heavy enemy fire was en-countered. Accurate fire and good skirmishing carried the battalions on, though both flank companies were in difficulties from strong-points held with machine guns. The resolute advance and the initiative of junior leaders made success complete. The whole village was taken at 6 p.m. Ninety prisoners, many weapons, food and stores of all sorts were captured.
