Forum Rules
There are certain things and behaviour, which will not be tolerated on this forum. Therefore pay attention to the following rules and abide by them.
1. Derogatory or discriminatory remarks based on ethnicity, nationality, gender, religion or personal beliefs
Racism or hatred of any sort is not acceptable. If you make a post; keep in mind that this community contains people from all around the world. What you deem as normal or even funny does not necessarily mean that it will be funny for everyone else. Be polite and respectful. Racism is one of the worst things you can commit here, so it can easily get you permanently banned.
2. Trolling, insulting and other personal attacks
Personal attacks on forum users and moderators of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes (but it is not limited to) insults, provocations for the sake of argument, homophobic slurs, threats, encouragement to suicide, wishing death or ill upon a user and death threats or threats to the persons physical constitution. The latter (in the threats category), in the absence of humor, is a criminal offense and will result in an immediate ban. Discussions are allowed, but only constructive discussions, not discussions where your main goal is to humiliate or offend someone. Aim to discuss points rather than people. Also do not post screamer links; it may result in an immediate mute or ban depending on how far the admin launched his breakfast upon viewing. Additionally; should a user create an account or group solely for the means of trolling, advertisement of trolling, or as a means to cause harm to another individual or group, in whatever shape or form, then FSE reserves the right to refuse service to the individual or group in question.
3. Excessive swearing
While moderators may deal leniently with less offensive words, provided they are used in a non-offensive context; certain words, along with their use and context will not be tolerated within the forum. FSE believes users are smart enough to structure their language so as not to be overly reliant on language that is construed to provoke, insult, anger or offend.
4. Spamming
Making unnecessary posts with no valuable content will be regarded as breaking the forum rules and punished accordingly. Try to avoid double posting whenever it is possible. If you want to add something to your post then please edit it, do not make a new one - please do not post the same thing on several places of the forum without permission. Be aware that posting unnecessary content (such as quote pyramids or off-topic posting of image macros or GIFs) can also constitute spamming.
5. Copyright infringement
We do not tolerate piracy. Anything connected to piracy, warez, cracks, hacks, serial keys and key generators or any other sort of copyright infringement can get you into trouble, regardless of whether you do it directly or indirectly. Infringement of this rule will result in immediate mute and possible ban depending on the severity of the breach. This rule also applies to the unauthorised use of other user's game assets (both from this community and any other). If you wish to use someone else's work in your mod you will need to get their written permission first, preferably alongside some form of proof that you have it.
6. Inappropriate content
Everyone can access this forum, therefore content intended only for adults is strictly forbidden. Content such as pornography, gory images, disturbing images or anything else the moderators find to be inappropriate for the age range on the forum will be removed, and the posting user potentially punished.
7. Posting private conversations or personal images without permission
All too often we have seen private conversations held on Steam, IRC, other programs, private messages and boards which, find their way onto the public domain. We will no longer accept this violation of trust on our forum. If you post a chat without the consent of the other member in the chat you may be instantly muted or dealt with at a moderators discretion depending the severity of the infringement, and the post will be removed. FSE believes that snippets of a private conversation do not provide sufficient context in a discussion and can be used to mislead. Furthermore posting pictures/images of other individuals or members of the forum and or wider community without permission will not be tolerated and may result in either a mute or ban depending the severity of the infringement.
8. No begging for serial keys
This is be considered to be an equivalent to piracy and will result in the immediate removal of the post along with a mute. Further action may be taken if required.
9. No alternative accounts
If you have registered an account with the FSE forums then please note: Do not create alternate or additional account, especially if you have been banned or muted. Exception is made if you are no longer using the original account and/or if the original account is no longer in use/deleted or if you have a family member/friend who is in the same area as you.
Should any of the above be true then its your responsibility to notify FSE of existing alternative accounts or of multiple account users in your area since FSE won't be held responsible if its admins mistakenly remove duplicate accounts. You can report your duplicate accounts here. If a user has been banned or muted and attempts to post using an alternate account then that user may be banned on the spot along with his/her other prior accounts depending a moderator's discretion.
10. Disciplinary action
In most cases unless otherwise specified; an initial infringement will warrant a warning, however should a moderator find a user to have committed multiple infringements in a short period of time it may result in an immediate mute in order to prevent further infringements while moderators deal with the ensuing reports/damage/problems or issues at hand. For severe breaches a ban will be issued by a head admin.
11. No posting of National Socialist imagery, symbols or right wing opinions or representation that may glorify or seek to represent elements of former Nazi Germany.
In many countries such symbols and imagery are banned particularly in Germany where FSE's host servers are based. At the end of the day this is a forum for the enjoyment of FSE products and not a platform for political discourse. FSE does not wish to contravene Germany's strict policies in regards to Strafgesetzbuch section 86a and thus requests that its users adhere to this policy as part of the terms of service agreement.
Off-Topic Rules
The Off-Topic forum section has always been given a little leeway in terms of what is considered acceptable, compared to the rest of the forums. To better facilitate that point of view, we're introducing a new thread icon () to be used solely for threads with mature content. This thread icon is titled "For Threads with Mature content", and is only applicable on this board.
So what does this mean?
This means that any thread with this icon is to be considered suitable for people aged 16+, rather than the Universal suitability of the rest of the forums. If you're below 16, then you're discouraged from entering threads with that logo as you may be exposed to mature content.
So what is classed as "Mature Content"?
"Mature content means that the broader forum rules still apply - we still will not tolerate porn on the forum, or abusive behaviour. What it means is that the contents of the thread may fall somewhere in the grey area between normality and pornographic material, whilst not being so explicit as to be unsuitable. In simpler terms, provided there's no lips, nips or dicks involved, then it's generally OK, however administrators will use their own discretion in determining what they believe is suitable.
Guidelines For Posting
No necroing old threads
Please do not raise old threads from the dead unless new events have arisen or new information has been brought to light that pertains directly to the subject matter of the thread. Use 30 days as a guide to in determining if a thread is too old to revive.
Keep private banter to private messages
Please do not create threads merely for the purposes of a shout out to friends.
Do not use Internet slang
Please do not use internet abbreviations to create posts or threads which others may not be able to comprehend. This will be treated as spam.
Do not create topics that already exist
Please do not create topics that cover a subject which is already covered in another thread.
Use the search function when in doubt.
Please do not rant and rave
Please do not create a hate filled thread or post that serves only to stir up popular sentiments against a user, policy or product in a pitchfork and torch fashion. If possible please keep all criticism constructive and non-abusive to enable everyone to focus on the problem rather than the hatred it has generated. Thank you!
Driving a thread Off-Topic
Should your posts deviate from all relevant or recognizable discussion branches within a thread, your posts will be considered as being "Off-Topic" (that is, irrelevant to the thread's intended purpose or discussion). If users consistently attempt to derail threads then moderators may take action against the user.
How to appeal a server admin’s decision
If you would like to appeal a ban from an official server or request one for a disruptive or abusive member then you can do so here.

How to appeal a forum admin’s decision
Contact a head moderator but do so in a fashion that seeks to solve the problem in a peaceable manner rather than petulantly annoying the moderator. Head moderators are: Blobmania and McEwan . Appeals will be deliberated on, do not expect an answer immediately. If your appeal is denied then it is expected that you accept the decision rather than rant or rave about it. In extreme cases only, where a solution cannot be arrived at with the moderators, you can escalate the matter to Vince.
How to report moderator or admin abuse
As above, if you wish to report admin abuse then contact one of the head admins above.
Concerning Forum Contests
The FSE Forum team will no longer be allowing such community contests on our forums. I have written a short list of reasons why for you all to view in case of anger or resentment.
1. At its base, these contests work on a flawed premise, that being the 'best' can be ascertained through voting. I do not think that is possible. At best, it is a contest in who can generate enough buzz, or has the most friends, or the largest community backing them. Who wins these contests can be congratulated for doing the above, but that is not what they are claimed to be. This style of voting has led to the following two issues.
2. Regimental Drama. Because there wasn't already enough silly arguments in our community, here comes the mother lode of passive aggressive back and forth hogwash. It was most seen in the 'Champions of Europe' thread, where the overall attitude was less than desirable. As such, we will no longer allow yet another means by which the community can bicker amongst themselves. I would encourage doing such activities in a less than public place, where it won't make you look as childish perhaps. And, compounded from this and the previous reason, is our last one.
3. It leads to breaks in forum policy and more work for FSE and the forum team. We have had several instances now where people would create duplicate accounts (dupes) to vote in these contests multiple times. This is unacceptable. The forum team has been called several times to help try and crack down on this, and we have decided simply to remove the source all together. These threads are filled with spam posts which are specifically against forum policy.
These forums were created to be a place of positive and thoughtful discussion about our products, as well as a place where the community can come together. These threads have proven to be the opposite, being filled with spiteful, negative, and vapid posts that have only divided our community more than before. This will no longer be tolerated.
In future cases, if you have an idea for a competition that relies on the elements above to function, please discuss the matter with a member of the moderation team (Deofuta, Blobmania, Refleax) prior to posting, to allow us to give you prior approval.
Concerning Popcorn Posting & Image Macros
Recently I have noticed a troubling trend of our community members. Certain members have decided to further instigate forum arguments by posting inane image macros. This will no longer be tolerated, and posts that appear to be doing so will be removed and the user warned.
