4th Alabama
Infantry Regiment
This regiment was organized at Dalton, Georgia, May 2, 1861, and proceeded at once to Virginia. Mustered into service for twelve months at Lynchburg, May 7, it proceeded to Harper's Ferry. It soon after fell back to Winchester, where it became part of Gen. B. E. Bee's Brigade - of which the 2nd and 11th Mississippi, 1st Tennessee, and 6th North Carolina were the other regiments. Moved to Manassas Junction, the regiment took a prominent part in that conflict, losing 38 killed and 208 wounded out of a total of about 750 engaged. Gen. Bee, killed at Manassas, was succeeded by Gen. W.H.C. Whiting. The Fourth wintered at Dumfries, re-enlisted for three years in January 1862, re-organized in April, and about that time moved over to the vicinity of Norfolk. It was engaged both days at Seven Pines, losing 8 killed and 19 wounded. A fortnight later, the brigade was sent to the Valley, but came back with Jackson's corps a few days after. It was hotly engaged at Cold Harbor, losing 22 killed and 108 wounded out of 500 present; and lost slightly at Malvern Hill. Moving northward with the army, the Fourth participated at the second Manassas, losing 20 killed, and 43 wounded. At Boonsboro the loss was slight, and at Sharpsburg 8 were killed, and 36 wounded. After this campaign Gen. Law was assigned to the permanent command of the brigade which was shortly after organized with the Fourth, Fifteenth, Forty-fourth, Forty-seventh, and Forty-eight Alabama regiments as its complement. The Fourth was engaged at Fredericksburg, losing 5 killed, and 17 wounded. It lost slightly in the brilliant fight at Suffolk, and soon after took up the line of march for Maryland. It passed into Pennsylvania, and was engaged in the assault at Gettysburg, with a loss of 15 killed, and 72 wounded and missing. In the fall the Fourth moved with Longstreet's corps, and took part at Chicamauga, with a loss of 14 killed, and 54 wounded out of about 3000 engaged. It moved with the corps into east Tennessee, and in the attack on Knoxville lost 5 killed, and 24 wounded. Rejoining the army in Virginia, the Fourth was hotly engaged, and lost 15 killed, and 58 wounded at the battle of the Wilderness out of about 250 engaged, and 4 killed and 11 wounded at Spottsylvania. It took part in all the operations to the second Cold Harbor, where its loss was slight. Then, for nearly ten months, it lay behind the defences of Petersbrug, taking part in the various movements and assaults, losing 10 killed, and 30 wounded during the time. It surrendered 202 men at Appomattox, Gen. Perry of Macon having been in command of the brigade for nearly a year. Of 1422 men on its rolls, about 240 perished in battle, nearly 100 died of disease, and 408 were discharged or transferred.

2. Garde-Regiment zu Fuss

History of the Real Regiment:
During 1813, Friedrich Wilhelm III ordered the creation of multiple Guard Regiments. One of these regiments was the 2. Garde-Regiment Zu Fuss. The Regiment was created from the 8th and 9th Infantry Regiments and these two Regiments formed the core of the unit. This regiment participated in many battles including the Battle of Leipzig (10/16-19/1813) and the Battle of Paris (3/30-31/1814), which resulted in Napoleon’s First Exile to Elba.  The 2. Garde-Regiment Zu Fuss would stay active within the Kingdom of Prussia and eventually the German Empire fighting for the Fatherland until the end of the Great War when it was disbanded permanently.

About Us:
The goal of this regiment is to give a fair chance for any member, new or old, and a fresh start. We also strive to build a strong community and become a strategic mastermind of tactical genius with equality, and good representation.

|Ranks|

Commissioned Officers

[Kapitan(Kapt): The Kapitan is the highest ranking Offiziere at the Kompanie level. He oversees the command of the Kompanie and leads it during battle. It his his job to coordinate with the battalion and lead his Kompanie in compliance with the overall battle plan. Any battalion orders are passed to the Kapitan first and he will distribute them to the platoon level. The Kapitan is expected to understand operation and manuevers at the strategic and tactical level and to maneuver his Kompanie according to the "big picture".

Leutnant/Premier-leutnant(Lt/PLt): These are the lowest ranking Offiziere in the regiment and act as Platoon leaders. It is their job to run their respective platoon and oversee it's performance in battle. Each Leutnant is entrusted with distributing information, taking accountability, and coordinating with their Unteroffiziere to ensure that their platoon is combat effective. During battle, Leutnants will take command of their respective platoons and follow the overall orders of the Kapitan. Therefore, Leutnants do not address Oberleutnants as sir, nor do they take orders from them unless the OLt be acting as the Kompanie Commander. .

Non-Commissioned Officers

Feldwebel(Fw): Feldwebel is the highest ranking NCO in the regiment and is entrusted with keeping it combat effective at all times. If any Unteroffizier is unable to resolve an issue or answer a question, they bring it first to the Feldwebel before the Kapitan. The Feldwebel helps to distribute information to the platoons and assists the Kapitan in running the Kompanie. He is also free to assist platoons when need be.

Unteroffizier(Uffz) Unteroffiziere are the lifeforce of the regiment. These men are the true leaders of the Kompanie and ensure that it remains combat effective. Unteroffiziere are expected to know and understand not only the line tactics, but also be knowledgeable in how to give and receive orders. Discipline is maintained by these men and it is their jobs to ensure that all orders are carried out by the men. Any problems or concerns are first dealt with by the Unteroffiziere and are only passed up the chain of command if they are unable to resolve it. Unteroffiziere are expected to interact with the men and answer any questions or concerns that they have, they are also expected to ensure that every soldier in their platoon is fully functional .

Korporal(Kpl):
Korporalen are the lowest ranking Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) in the regiment. It is their job to work with the Unteroffiziers to maintain order in the ranks and to ensure that dicipline and the code of conduct are upheld at all times. Korporalen lead by example, but are also expected to understand line tactics and if need be, take over for an Unteroffizier in case they fall in battle. Korporalen are expected to provide an example of what it means to be a "good soldier", but are expected, unlike the Gefreitern, to learn how to lead as well. Korporalen act as the left guides of the platoons in our battle lines. Therefore, it is paramount that they be familiar with line tactics.

Enlisted

Rekrut(Rkt): Upon entry into the Regiment, all new members will be awarded the rank of Rekrut. This rank acts of a sort of "probationary period" which allows new players to get to know the regiment and for us to get to know you. Once the leadership of the regiment deems a Rekrut as knowledgeable in line tactics and discipline, they will be promoted into the regiment. Think of this rank as a "trial period" where you are being educated and tested in order to determine if you fit our requirements for a Soldat.

Soldat(Sdt): This is the lowest official rank in the regiment. Soldaten make up the rank and file of our regiment and account for the vast majority of our men. Soldaten are expected to follow the code of conduct and carry out orders. Our success or failure as a regiment rests on the shoulders of these men. \

Gefreiter(Gfr): Gefreitern should be considered "experienced soldaten". This is not an NCO rank, rather it is an award to those Soldaten we deem to have exhibited a mastery of the skills of the soldier. Gefreitern do not issue orders, neither are they considered superior in rank to Soldaten, rather, they are looked upon as the "ideal soldiers" and are expected to act as so. Gefreitern lead by example and are usually the ones being groomed for advancement into the ranks of the NCO's. Only through hard work and exemplary performance can a Soldat be considered for advancement to Gefreiter.
