Brief Introduction:
The Colberg Regiment owes its existence to the successful defense of the Colberg fortress against Napoleon I's troops during the spring campaign in 1807. In 1808, two infantry regiments were formed from the Prussian soldiers who had defended Colberg, along with other formations. This is how the Leib-Grenadier-Regiment "King Friedrich Wilhelm III. (1st Brandenburgische) No. 8 and the Infantry Regiment No. 10 (called Colbergsches) came into being. By cabinet order of August 29, 1808, Lieutenant General von Blücher, signed by King Friedrich Wilhelm III., founded with the success of the army reform from 1807 onwards, the 1st - 12th regiments were formed from the old regiments, they were well trained and capable of fighting, only allowed to have their own troops in the wars of liberation The 9th Infantry Regiment (called Colbergsches) also belongs to the main regiments.
