The 33rd Regiment of Foot is proud to Host another One-off Historical Event, taking place on 1st February at 6:50gmt lasting until 8:00gmt. The Event will consist of 4 to 6 Rounds across 4 maps and will include LineBattle, Conquest and Siege rounds. Sign ups will be made on this forum however the final confirmation of attendance and the giving out of the password will be handled on steam, therefore it is essential that you Add [33rd]Kincaid on Steam!
Napoleon's invasion of Russia on 24th June 1812 saw a staggering 860,000 strong force strike towards Moscow, consisting of French troops and their Allies. Early Success was soon whittled away by a lack of supplies for the French force, the Russians depriving the land of resources as it retired deeper into Russia. After a major action at Borodino Napoleon laid claim to Moscow; it's capture did not hail the Victory he sought however as the Russian army remained and incendiaries burned much of their capital to the ground. With little choice remaining The French army begun an agonising retreat back across hostile territory, with the Russian army and Winter taking a disastrous toll. By the time the Grande Armee left Russian soil they numbered only 27,000 men.
Please note that this Event will be replacing our Wednesday Conquest Event for this date only, our usual Conquest will continue to take place after this date.

Normal Conquest
Having had no opportunity to cut-short the Russian retreat early in the campaign, Napoleon devised a Manoeuvre around Smolensk in an attempt to sweep behind the Russians and inflict a decisive defeat. Bagration's corps had fortunately occupied Smolensk a few days prior and was able to stall the French advance in the suburbs of the City.

After constant retreat Kutuzov is re-appointed as commander of the Russian forces, and prepares for one defensive action close to Moscow. a series of redoubts are hastily constructed to anchor the Russian line, these must be held for as long as possible to maintain any advantage over the Grande Armee.

Admin set objective using LineBattle rules - France spawn 5 Arty horses, retreat along the road and bring at least 1 arty horse to the end to win the Round. Russian Cossacks have unlimited lives, French troops have 2 lives
Leaving Moscow burning with no peace terms in sight, the French begin retiring out of Russian territory. The prolonged retreat is taking its toll on the Grande Armee; under constant attack they must protect their baggage and supply line to attempt to sustain themselves and the rest of the retreating army during the Russian winter.

The French troops are only a stones throw away from the Polish border, only to find that the Berezina river has thawed and blocks their path. Their engineers must work quickly to assemble a crossing, still under attack by the vengeful Russians
