Why? You'd make a very good drummer boy in yellow.

I think he doesn't want to be around blokes all the time. Makes him feel 'unsure'. Right, Nipple?  ;)

A Pickelhaube can make any uniform look flashy.

Yes, that's exactly it, Duuring.

No, actually it's because reeactments are filled with fat people and old men, and the uniforms look like 5th grade play outfits. That's mainly what I see in that picture, but I'm sure many reenactments are different, correct?

Well, the average age of re-enactors might be few years higher then historically accurate, and many sure would benefit from losing a few pounds(Especially that guy on the left)...but these guys look really good, in my eyes. How do you mean, 5th grade play outfits?

Maybe they're just wearing cheaper quality uniforms, but the cotton looks to be of very, very bad quality, and they look way too clean. Almost like haloween costumes. Also, from what I've seen in reenectment videos, not many people actually seen to be very passionate, or even good at their roles. I see a lot of smiles, leisurely marching, reloading and firing, and just a general feeling that hardly anyone is taking the event serously.

Now, I know that often this is just a fun time with friends, but if I were paying in the upper hundreds or thousands for my gear, and if there were a group of spectators like there often are, then I might want to put some effort into my acting.

Well, they are simply regular people, not actors! They are doing it for their own fun - not to give out a good show.

Seriousness differs from regiment to regiment and from event to event. In the end, we are just re-enacting  ;)

Napoleonic, my first would be the Marins de la Garde. However, McEwan took them. My second favorite are the 3e Grenadiers-a-Pied de la Garde Imperiale "Old Guard Grenadiers"
THe guy who painted these desveres kudos. Insane detail.

Now, as for American Civil War, my favorite would have to be the 33rd New Jersey Volunteers, 2nd Zouaves "Mindl's Zouaves."
The wore exquisite Americanized Zouave uniforms.

Lol 3eme wore the white uniforms. They where bad ass uniforms, though.

They had a pretty cool uniform.

Okay, it was identical to about 152 other regiments, but still, pretty cool.
