The largest ship we will have is the ship of the line, which Paul posted in the first page. It supports quite a lot of guns, around 77 not including swivel guns, so that would be a ton of players just on that single ship. We would love to support more then just 2 ship of the lines in a single match, that would be awesome for clan battles. The problem is that they are extremely performance heavy, especially during boarding as everything is seen at once. We will have probably 5 different ship types in the finished game from smallest to largest.
We intend to remake and optimize a new mesh later this year. So basically we are starting out small (with the naval cutter) then working our way up back to that large ship. The next ship will be a single deck ship. We are also having some team game modes where there will be multiple types of ships evenly distributed between factions for a large scale ocean battle.
Also yes! We love fire
In some of the gameplay videos some players were running around on fire. Fire spawns are random with random chance at the moment, but we will most likely make some way that you can do critical hits like hitting their ammo caches and catching a lot of stuff on fire.
Also not sure if anyone has seen this, but this was our Concept trailer a while back which moreover explained the features of Blackwake. It got mentioned on Kotaku without us contacting them so that was a suprise.
