The 84e Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne (AUS) is an Australian Mount & Blade: Warband Napoleonic Wars regiment, created on the 14th of October 2014. The regiment was founded by a group of friends who are dedicated to maintaining a regiment that manages to be both fun and disciplined. Our regiment is determined to provide a fun experience for members of the Oceanic Community. We attend regular events inside Australia, as well as managing to attend American and Asian events when we just can't get enough warband! We average around 25+ players at an Australian event, which is quite large by Australian regiment standards. We accept players of all age, and have no level of skill requirements to join the regiment. Our regiment is based on the foundations of honesty and respect. We also organise regular trainings and events with other Australian members, often organising minigames such as 50 men fort wars. Our older members are also willing to commit their time to assist new players of the regiment with everything     from shooting, to melee, to cavalry tactics. Many of our members have gradually gotten better at the game, specifically melee, from their time spent with us. We use an extensive drill book with multiple formations and firing commands. The regiment typically operates at a line battle by having 2 lines (though it is not uncommon to have 3 or 4) which communicate with eachother using a whisper key. To advance in rank through the regiment, you merely have to attend events, and be willing to lead the line (which requires a mic!). Other awards that may be rewarded in the regiment are medals, which are awarded for everything from excellent melee, excellent artillery, excellent sharpshooting etc.

The 84th Line, created in 1684, was known by the Battle of Graz. On the 25th and 26th June 1809, two battalions of the 84th defended a church cemetery for many hours against thousands of Austrian soldiers. In the end, the regiment broke through and escaped their enemies. In honour of the regiments outstanding bravery on this occasion, the 84th was allowed to add the words UN CONTRE DIX (One Against Ten) on their colours.
Here are a few details about this combat.

Two battalions of the 84th Line with 2 guns entered the town of Graz, seized the stable, cleared the streets, and took 450 prisoners. The Austrians held only the church and cemetery. Fierce musketry halted the 84th, but at midnight the French scaled the cemetery's walls and took the defenders by surprise. Approximately 120 Austrians surrendered. The French realized that there were more Austrians in the neighbourhood, and the 84th considered a withdrawal only to find that the white-coats had surrounded them. The 84th put all prisoners into the church, and took cover behind the cemetery walls. Although most of the Austrian forces were militia, they outnumbered the French by 10 to 1, the only first rate unit was the Simbish Infantry Regiment. In the morning the white-coats attacked the cemetery several times. In one attack they penetrated the church to liberate their comrades, in another attack they dragged off one cannon before the French counter-attacked and retook it. In one of the last attacks the white-coats scaled the wall and captured one of 84th eagles, but Sergeant Legouge single-handedly entered the fight to save the eagle. Running out of ammunition the French decided to use bayonets and cut their way to safety, and they escaped and met up with relieving troops sent by Marshal Marmont.

For the loss of three officers and 31 men killed, 12 officers and 192 men wounded, and 40 captured, they inflicted an estimated 500 casualties on the Austrians.

We currently have a total of sixty-six active members within the regiment and are constantly growing.

General Discussion / No Officer Shooting Rule
« on: February 07, 2015, 12:50:02 pm »
Just a brief introduction to myself. I am an Australian NW player (yes we have line battles and events here!) and I am a co leader of a regiment here in Aus! I was wondering why NA and EU sometimes use the No Officer targeting rule. In AU, we never use any sort of rule, we expect all leaders and co leaders of regiments to be able to lead, as well as their ranker's. I was wondering why you guys sometimes use this rule! Thanks!
