"[Role] Application for [Date]" (Light Infantry for 01/12/16 ):
Regiment:   52nd Regiment of Foot
Role Desired:   Light Infantry
Number of members:   12-20
Previous Experiences:We are a lights regiment, and drill in the art of light warfare

If the lightinfantry/skirmisher role(when we give out special roles skirms and lights are in the same category) is given out, know that it is limited 13men MAX for balance. All extras would fall under regular line rules.

Regular attending regiment list updated.

See you all Friday!  Don't forget about those roles if you want them. Otherwise, they'll be distributed @ the pre-linebattle meeting.

Addends to the Rules during Shadow's Exec. Admin-ship

- FiC/FoL: Can't be done for a line when half are in melee and half are firing.  Please say something.
- Speed on melee is now Faster, not Fastest.
- In the event that roles wish to be run by the regiments attending during the pre-linebattle meeting, and both teams have a minimum of 6 men, they can go those roles. Each regiment running that role is responsible for communicating with the other group to increase their number.
- In order to use firearms from horseback, cavalry must be in a line or column. They are allowed to be trotting in this case.  They must be at a minimum of two horse lengths from one another in order to fire while trotting.

North American Friday Night Hardcore Linebattle

What is the Hardcore Line Battle? We created a set of rules that confine the participating regiments within defined formations and compositions. By structuring the makeup and performance of the regiments involved, we have made a more challenging line battle where teamwork and training are as valuable as skill and experience. By sternly enforcing the event rules, we hope that players will be rewarded more when they achieve victory, instead of stretching the rules in order to win.

This weekly line battle is open to public players and NW regiments. Our server will have a password, and only attending regiments and public players in TeamSpeak will receive the server name and password once the event begins. Public players should join the "Public Regiment" channel where they will be given instructions. Public players who arrive late and miss the short training period may be denied the password. Regiment leaders will receive the server name and password via TeamSpeak in the “Line Battle Administration” channel. One skirmisher, cavalry, engineer, and artillery unit will be allowed per faction, as numbers allow. We will do best of two maps, each being a best of three rounds. The last map, pending score of previous two maps, will be either a “fun round” or another final round. Regiments who would like to request an invitation may do so by following the Guest List Application instructions below.

Please familiarize yourself with the event rules. Violators may be slain with no warning.
Use common sense. Admins can punish for blatant stupidity.
Spoiler
General Expectations:
  • Officers and NCOs are responsible for enforcing the event rules within their ranks. Failure to do so will result in the entire regiment being punished.
  • The maximum number of Officer class is 2 for distinct/separate lines (this includes cavalry as well)
  • All regiments must agree that they understand and intend to follow the event rules before they are allowed to attend.
  • Offical lowered speciality numbers are 8 units total for all specialities. Arty can only have 1 arty piece.
  • Violation of any written event rule will result in an automatic slay. This is your warning.
  • All charge orders may be given at the 5min or 6min mark of a round if there is no active combat present. No shooting is allowed at this present time until there is 3 or less on either side.
  • If either side has 3 soldiers or less alive, the rules governing combat may be ignored in order to expedite an end to the round. This overrules charge orders.
  • Postponing defeat will result in an automatic slay.
  • Teamkilling will not be tolerated at any time during the event, for any reason. Accidental TKs may be punished per admin discretion.
  • Slurs are not allowed. Do not use slurs. Do not dance around the rule.
  • Rounds are 12 minutes long, but may be extended if the round's conclusion is near. Combat speed is set at Faster.
  • Unless a player is a member of the Pubs, having an identifying tag is a must, and those without will be kicked until they do have proper tags.
  • Pistols may be fired out of formation by any member of the line, however, if there are two or more pistols only the officer may fire out of formation.
  • Sappers building obstructions of any kind in doorways to impede entry is prohibited.
  • Anyone who fires out of formation may be slain without any warning at any time.

Melee Expectations:
  • If any of your unit is engaged in melee, your entire unit is considered in melee and you may not fire
  • Anyone who fires out of formation or while at least one member of the unit is in melee may be slain without any warning at any time.

Guidelines for Infantry
  • Infantry units may only spawn with muskets (cavalry or infantry) or musketoons.  If an infantryman finds a rifle, he may use it.
  • Light Infantry may be used by line infantry regiments but are required to have line infantry spacing.
  • Infantry may only fire their muskets while in a properly spaced line formation.
    • Infantry should be shoulder to shoulder if in one rank
    • Infantry should have less than 1 space between them if in two ranks.

  • Infantry may only crouch if they are out of combat, or in the front of a two rank line (even behind cover, earthworks, sandbags, etc.)
  • If only 2 men remain in a line, they must immediately join a friendly line OR charge directly toward their enemy into melee
  • If troops enter a building, infantry must form proper formations of at least 3 men if they wish to fire a musket/rifle.
  • Infantry may use the dragoon cavalry class but MUST kill their horses in spawn

Guidelines for Skirmishers
  • Skirmisher units may never exceed 13 soldiers all together.
  • Skirkishers may only fire their muskets while in a properly spaced formation (skirmishers must use a skirmish line).
    • "One space" is the width of your avatar on screen.
    • Light Infantry (skirmisher w/ bayonet) may have 3 spaces between them.
    • Riflemen may have up to 5 spaces between them.
    • Skirmishers adhere to the MELEE EXPECTATIONS defined above.
    • Persistent firing out of formation may result in a temporary or permanent ban.

  • Skirmishers (riflemen or light infantry) may crouch at any time, but infantry may only crouch if they are out of combat, or in the front of a two rank line (even behind cover, earthworks, sandbags, etc.)
  • If only 2 men remain in a line, they must immediately join a friendly line OR charge directly toward their enemy into melee
  • If troops enter a building, only Skirmishers/Light Infantry may fire freely.

Guidelines for Cavalry:
  • Cavalry units may never exceed 13 soldiers all together.
  • An officer may use the general class in place of cavalry officer
  • In order to use firearms from horseback, cavalry must be in a line or column. They are allowed to be trotting in this case.  They must be at a maximum of two horse lengths from one another in order to fire while trotting.
  • Unhorsed/dismounted Cavalry are considered Light Infantry.
  • Cavalry must stay together and fight as a cohesive group attacking one unit or concentrated area. Lone cavalry who are fighting far from the rest of their unit may be slain for ramboing.
  • Ride or Die rule: The last cavalryman from his unit must ride (if possible) to the nearest friendly line and dismount, or he must charge at the enemy. In order to not be considered ramboing, he may not ambush a unit from behind. Note that this represents the end of the old Maniacal rule.
    • For the sake of history: The Maniacal rule was a rule where the last cav could do whatever they wanted.

Guidelines for Engineers:
  • Infantry and Skirmisher regiments may have 1 Engineer in their unit.
  • Engineers attached to infantry and skirmisher units may not build fortifications
  • Musket-armed Engineers are considered Line Infantry.

Guidelines for Artillery:
  • Each faction is allowed 2 guns (cannon, howitzer, or mortar). They may not have 2 of the same type of gun. 2 rockets count as 1 gun. UK may use four rockets, if they wish.
  • Each faction's artillery detachment may contain a maximum of 10 members, including the artillery crew and guard. This detachment can be composed of any mixture of artillery crew members and bodyguards as long as it is 10 members or less.
  • Artillery guards may choose Artillery units, Infantry or Engineer classes.
  • Artillery guards may kneel and fire as long as they are within 5 paces of an active cannon.
    • An active cannon is a cannon that is either being loaded or aimed.

  • A member of any unit may join the artillery as a guard if he is unable to function with the remnants of his line. There may be at any time, including the original members of the artillery guard, a maximum of 7 guards. Any more than that must use normal infantry rules.

Friday Guest List

THE PUBLIC REGIMENT
The Public Regiment is a tradition dating back to the first NA Friday Night Line Battle hosted on February 4th, 2011. In order to fill the server, because there were not many NA based regiments at that time, we allowed all public players to attend. Instead of setting them free upon the battlefield however, we subjected them to a half hour of regimental line drill training courtesy of the 1stEPI's training manual (which was based off of Hardee's manual). Ever since, we have fielded a group of public players formed up as a regiment of their own every Friday and Tuesday night.

To qualify as a public player, you must not be in a regiment, so players wearing tags may be denied entry into the event.

Public players who have been to many battles and have shown proficiency following and giving orders have been assigned as trustworthy pub Officers to the Public Regiment. When an admin is not available to train and lead the pubs into battle, the responsibility passes to one of the pub Officers.

The current roster of honored and respected pub Officers is as follows (main contact in italics): SilentMatthew, DrTaco, KingBeaver, and Mango.
