Melee is shittier but unlike Holdfast the devs are planning to improve it and listen to community feedback (its just taking a while due to animation delays and wonky IK. Devs haven't done anything with it since the AoN update and that was only downstab damage due to them wanting to fix things so the new animations work well with changes). There are some issues with specialties such as experienced arty on maps that make it too easy for them but I don't there being 16 cavalry or 16 skirmishers on a 50v50 which is just excessive IMO.

Edit: Map wise event hosts just need to figure out which custom maps work well and the random map settings
