Making a thread like this is like and saying "No Spoilers" is like setting up 10,000 dominos on a gym floor and then having fifty kindergarteners run in and telling them not to touch anything.

It's the reason I ran out and read all the books as fast as I could.  Because kindergarteners ruin everything.

The reason why I won't read the books is because when I watch the series after they would seem dissapointing.

Things happen in the books that do not happen on the show, entire houses added or removed, etc  to conform to the tight confines of a television show, if it can be called that.

They are wonderful books.  I highly recommend reading them!

Exactly. That is why I refuse to read the books.
Because for example with harry potter. I read all the books before all the movies were out.
So when I watched the movies they seemed dissapointing because they missed so much from the books

That's simply not the case with the ASOIAF series, I watched both Season 1 and 2 first and then read the books in the year interval between season 2 and the upcoming season 3, I can tell you that the series is in no way disappointing after reading the books, they compliment each other well, infact I actually understood more in the show after reading the books and when I re-watched the TV series I got more enjoyment out of it by knowing more about what was going on.

Yeah that's one of the reasons I got the books.  It really breaks down the houses and complex dynamics of the countries politics.  The TV series is great, but they just don't have the time to break it all down.  I watched the first 2 seasons, went and got the books, and then re-watched the season again with open eyes.  It's pretty cool.

Just go and read the 1st book.  You can see for yourself.
