I do like the idea. You could also do a regimental GF tournament. Like 5v5. Give more people a chance to play in it. But if you do want to keep it for duelling. You could make it the best 5 of each regiment. That way more can participate and you could use a ranking system similar to Formula 1 or something. Have individual rankings and then a regiment ranking overall, which shows how well all the players of one regiment did. That way you can have a normal duel tournament winner but then at the same time have a regimental ranking to see how well the regiments faired overall.

Also the 5v5 Regimental groupfighting would be cool too.

I want whoever plays for the regiment would have to be a rank higher than Pvt or Rec so that we know that person really represents the community and does not just join a regiment to play.

Thanks for the help guys. Im afraid this wont start for a while because Im starting up a regiment with another couple guys leaving my time to organize this very very small.
