Philosophical Thread
« on: October 28, 2014, 02:38:24 am »
A little thread for you to drop random tid-bits of knowledge to get you through life. From serious stuff to day-to-day occurrences, everyone's got a few phrases they live by. Feel free to discuss the phrases also. I'll start with my two favorite self created phrases of wisdom:

"All men are born, raised, and live partially insane. What we try to do, is not go completely insane."

"There are two kinds of people in the world, people who think there are two kinds of people, and those who know better."
"No man will make a great leader who wants to do it all himself or get all the credit for doing it."- Andrew Carnegie
“A man who has no conscience, no goodness, does not suffer.” - Khaled Hosseini
Faggots will burn in hell anyway, who cares.

"Get that shit outta hereeeee" - How to respond to almost anything.

on a serious note this quote totally contradicts itself because then there would be two types of people in this world.
Quote
"There are two kinds of people in the world, people who think there are two kinds of people, and those who know better."

That's the point. At the end of the day no one knows much about others, even those who act like they do.

Random thoughts from nowhere, go!

Omniscience cannot exist because there can always be something you might not know that you might not know.

Heard Tim McIlrath say this earlier: "Every action has a reaction. We've got one planet. One chance."

Expect me to hang about here often.
I'd suggest do it the same as the earliest politcal thread: Perhaps choose a branch, provide a statement and start a discussion.
Probably one of the very few old-timers here who hasn't been a regimental leader.

Massive job loss will take place, but if left allowed to, the market will adapt. I just don't want my job to be taken away from me, tbh.

I prefer Camus' approach to Absurdism over Kierkegaards.

Kierkegaard, Stirner, Camus, Sartre, Goldman, Nietsche - dig em all
“Ego is a structure that is erected by a neurotic individual who is a member of a neurotic culture against the facts of the matter. And culture, which we put on like an overcoat, is the collectivized consensus about what sort of neurotic behaviors are acceptable.” -Terence McKenna

"To be sane is an honorable goal but to be 100% sane means perfection, and we are only humans."
"When we found the Abyss, we fought.
Through our blood, we did not find what we sought.
New challenger, end us, so we may rot.
For our journey into the Abyss, was all for nought."
