The Browning Automatic Rifle or the Springfield. Amazing pieces of weaponry those are.

@Nipple Oh joy, more people making Islam look bad.

Anyhow, saying the US won WWII on it's own is like saying Britain beat Napolean in the Penninsula on it's own.

It's not just false, it makes you and everyone where you comefrom look like complete IDIOTS.

I live in the US but I'm originally from Morocco, I had family in the FFL(French Foriegn Legion) an the FFF (Free French Forces) during WWII. I can tell you, when my Great Grandfather was with the Desert Rats over in Egypt he did NOT think the US was doing him any favors. My Great Uncle in Europe was in the Battle of the Bulde, and some 101st Airborne troops saved his life, so it's not like you can say the US did very little as I've actually heard some Europeans claim (This is also total BS).

I do think out of all the allies the US were carrying a decent amount of wieght in the war, I mean the Army was in Europe while the Marine Corps went through HELL in the Pacific going against Japan. etty much on their own. The ANZAC troops weren't helping on Iwo Jima guys.

Though honestly, I think the Soviets did the most in the war. ey did take on 4 German armies... on their own... and win. Plus they helped out in Japan by wiping them out in China where the US and the UK had stalled.

Im actually planning on recording the event with a "Cap Cam", I'm going to cut a small slit into my forage cap and then put a snake cam through.

Of course, if I had THIS, it'd be set. http://www.google.com/glass/start/

I wouldn't recommend getting everything first event. Start with small things like a forage cap and maybe a coat

Well, I got the Cap, Coat, Gun and untensiles. The rest I'm going to buy later.

Anyone got any tips for Gettysburg? That'll probably be my first event if nothing pops up.

i got one find you unit before dark or its going to be a long night of looking

XD Handy tip there Munk. Ill be sure to know that too.

Push comes to shove I'll just sleep under a tree. Of course my Captain will have my hide...

Hey mate,

Had a accident with your cartridge? sounds scary anyway,

As for Brogans, I heard a lot of good review about Robert Land

http://www.robertlandhistoricshoes.com/servlet/StoreFront

Also I'm guessing you need supplies such as for camping?

http://www.regtqm.com/
Has everything and its mainstream quality. Except the Campaigner section, thats some nice high quality stuff. See anything you need there, i suggest nab it before checking out the mainstream ones.

Meanwhile, check out the Sutler topic. I believe you'll find long list of ACW Sutlers ranging from Mainstream quality to Museum Quality.

Wow...

Thanks, I got faster replies then I expected. I completely forgot about getting camping supplies except for the tin cup. Plus I've found everything else on my list except a cap box. Edit: Also, an USM1858 smooth side canteen.

Hey guys, as some of you know I'm planning on joining a regiment n my area, but I need to get the neccisary supplies first. I've got the cash on hand that I need to buy most of the supplies, but I'm still minus a lot of the importaint stuff.

First off, I can't find any good brogan sulters. I dunno why it's so hard to find some bloody boots. Second, I can't find anywhere to get cartridges. I can roll 'em myself but after the last... incident I had with black powder I'd rather just by them premade. Thirdly would be a musket, specifically a 1853 3 Band Lee Enfield. I have a place where I can get it now, but it doesn't come with a bayonet (Last thing I want is an ill fitting bayonet).

Leatherworks I've got down, as with the uniform and pretty much all of my clothing (Minus the brogans). I know it's a big list, but I figured knowing that there's a lot of vetted CW reenactors here on FSE I could get a hand finding order points.

Thanks!

You could try wearing these glasses in the battle. Just go to the rear rank  and record that.

Eh, too modern. They only allow glasses if they're spectacles.

Only few month to Gettysburg, I can't wait for it!  ;D

im jumping up and down

I have to wait until next year until I get to hit the road. Have to save cash up for my Ensfield ($1000 for one and I don't even get a freakin sling or a ramrod!)

Could say I work for harpers weekly.

or the Richmond Papers

Or Puck, better yet.

I'm gonna join the 28th Mass, once I get all of my supplies and transport money in order. How much does a bus ticket from Boston to Gettysburg cost anyhow?

Is the 28th your joining in the Mifflin Guard? My unit is a part of them.

Why yes Caboose, yes they are. 12th NJ going to be in any big reenactments this year?
