Basically a discussion about everything college/uni. What do you like about your current institution? What don't you like? Your major?
Don't bring politics into this. If you want to discuss why college should be free go to the politics thread. Thanks.

Political Science, 2nd year. Woo-haa.
-
Like? Nothing. Don't like? Everything. Major? Underwater basket weaving
-
Well, I've already graduated, and I studied Law for three years. It's different in the UK there's no majors/minors or whatever you just pick one subject.
-
International Studies, year one.
State Department, here I come! (Hopefully)
-
Information Technology and Management
Concentration in Computer Networking
Graduating in May
-
Does anyone believe in the /STEM/ meme? I think I'm going to switch my major from Finance to Comp Sci.
Oh, is anyone in a Fraternity?
-
I actually switched from a STEM major halfway through the year. Electricals just got boring.
-
Medicine, 2nd year. Graduating in 2019, or 2020 if I intercalate a BMedSci or similar.
Finishing up my preclinical part of the course so there'll be very few lectures from July and placement instead.
Fun course, super interesting, and there's enough patient contact, clinical skills training and so on to break up the monotony of lectures. I must say that I do miss dissection from first year, I may try to get in on a post mortem at some point.
-
Community college currently, transferring to a 4 year for the fall semester.
Most likely political science unless my interests change drastically in the next 6 months.

I like the courses my school offers, I am an AS300 cadet in the air force, already been through field training and what not/ and studying Business/Marketing on the side. My schools AFROTC program has helped me out a lot (LLAB case studies boring af), and I think I am not going into 4th year air force study (cause then id have to do a pilot training course) but just taking my certs and after graduation going into Army OCS, into intelligence as a 35O or whatnot. I was in a frat my freshman year, hardly studied so dropped out of that 2nd year onwards. But otherwise I have no complaints.
-
Arts Poli Sci (Honors) next year.
Can't wait for it :D

I think you and I are the only ROTC cadets on this forum, even though you're Air Force and I'm Army. Aren't you contracted though? Don't you have to serve 4 years after you graduate?

In high school right now. Currently working on my applications for the USMA and the army ROTC scholarship. I should be good for the scholarship, but the USMA is incredibly intricate and competitive. As you're already a cadet, you'd no better, but I think that if you don't have a scholarship you aren't actually required to serve after your 4 years.
-
Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to apply to the USMA back when I was in high school. Good luck to you though. What schools were you looking at for 4-year scholarship? I would reccomend UMDCP, Clemson, VA Tech, and Texas A&M.

My top choices are Texas, VMI, and The Citadel. I've heard that VMI and the citadel are somewhat xenophobic and they don't like non southerners, so I think Texas is the ideal school for me.
-
Yeah, tbh Texas would give you a more "college" experience than VMI or Citadel

I did not accept my scholarship via ROTC (I was given a chance to choose to 2nd year, I actually got a different scholarship through a DARPA program), so dont need to be obligated to become an AF officer. Anyways, I will have a new contract next year when I go for OCS. It took me several months to be able to even be allowed to transition, because of my eye vision 2nd year when I realized I will never become a pilot. But I am def gonna serve at least 4 years AD, thats for sure ;p

Good luck bro, West Point from what I hear is definitely super competitive, and super not fun. Whatever you choose make sure you decide what specialized field you want to enter, that itself is competitive; especially for upcoming officers.

Comp Sci, 3rd year, been applying for coop for this summer
Does anyone believe in the /STEM/ meme? I think I'm going to switch my major from Finance to Comp Sci.
You have to have a passion for whatever you're going to do, it goes without saying for anything. If you don't love STEM you won't do well. It's not a meme, it's just that people think that STEM = six digit salary on graduation when it's only true if you did internships/coop (where the company you did your work terms at enjoyed your work) and also got good marks. An example, I have a class with software """engineers""" and it is safe to say that out of maybe 20 of them only 3 actually know how to program. We have to do a project for the semester where we build an application from the ground up in development teams, and unfortunately each team is required to have at least 1 """engineer""" and 1 CS student. So, far I have not heard one good thing about the engineers in some of my friend's teams, and the one in mine is absolutely useless.
So don't be like them, don't go into it thinking it makes money. Degrees don't make money, PEOPLE do, and if you're in a degree to make money you might as well just live on the dole if you want to live a life without passion.
Oh, is anyone in a Fraternity?
>paying to party
>paying to have friends
-
I don't have a passion for CS right now nor do I have distain for it. Its simply a subject that I have genuine interest in that I really don't know much about.
-
I just want to get fucked up this weekend
Buy a sheet of acid
I can't afford college yet. In due time.

I go to school under a bridge and learn about boats in an ugly khaki uniform, and it's a sausage fest. All worth it in the end though when I start racking in that fat 70k starting salary.
-
Not in college yet but will likely start next year. Plan on majoring in political science.

Just finishing up 1st year Computer Science and Language, Trinity College Dublin
About to go into 1st year Computer Science, Trinity College Dublin
Not going to write the full story, but the tldr is that Academic Registry are shitlords who only care about money and refused me a transfer for no discernible reason other than that I was transferring form a small course with low demand and a high drop out rate to a much more popular course
rip money
