You can do anything you like with them as they are an OSP (online service provider) resource.

Not sure how much this will help but is there any way I can get an updated version of this skin for the version of NW?

Thanks.

This mod is only fully compatible with the version of Napoleonic Wars before the final patch was done. If you are familiar with the Open brf file software that allows you to add and make changes on how uniform textures and materials are allocated in the game, you can attempt to implement it manually. However, I would strongly suggest not implementing the infantry which requires you to make many changes to how the trousers of several units of multiple factions are assigned. It was a pain for me to do this with the older version of Napoleonic Wars and I am not sure if it is even still possible now. Just putting the Brunswick Hussars into the game should be fairly straight forward as there are not a lot of shared resources in that particular unit of the British faction.

Map Updates
I have updated 3 of the War of 1812 maps which I later realized were done portraying the wrong time of year. The Battle of New Orleans (2 maps) took place in the winter and the Battle of the Thames took place in the fall. The relevant scene props have been changed on these maps to reflect correct season they were fought in. If you would like to download and update your War of 1812 module with the changes click on the hyperlink below, download and extract the compressed folder, then copy the 3 scene object files inside the downloaded folder and paste them onto the SceneObj folder in your War of 1812 module. Replace the destination files when prompted.

Both White House siege maps were also added to the folder. The spawn locations have been moved to the back rooms to protect them from incoming artillery. Use the same procedure above to update your War of 1812 module.

The Fort McHenry maps have been added to the folder. The ladders have been removed and exploits available to attackers at he ends of the bridge to the entrance have been blocked to make the map more challenging.

Ah - thanks, the Mod folder shouldn't be too hard to find.

I have downloaded the War of 1812.exe file from the first post.  When I run it, it tells me to buy the Napleonic War Module (which I have).

I have been able to connect to a regular Napoleonic server. When I re-run the setup I get the same error.

I have tried a couple of ways of extracting the files from the .exe (assuming it's a self-extracting archive). I've had no luck so far. Usually 7-Zip handles that OK, but not in this case.

Are the mod files available in a non-exe file somewhere? Or do you have any tips on extracting them?

Thanks in advance,

J

The mod downloads were actually set up by another member of the mod team. His name on this forum is usnavy30. I forgot that he had set up the download as an exe file. Send him a PM and see if he can't provide you with another link to a download without the exe file in it for non-steam users.

Does the mod only work on the steam version?  Was thinking about trying it on the Xbox Game Pass PC version.

Thanks!

I do not know the path to the modules folder of Warband Napoleonic Wars on the application you are using. If you can find it, pasting the extracted War of 1812 folder from the download on the first post of this thread into the modules folder should allow you to run the mod if you are using a PC to run the game.

Also, I suggest you name the canadian fencibles to the New Brunswick Fencibles. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Royal_New_Brunswick_Regiment#The_War_of_1812, Although they became the 104th (Brunswick) Regiment of Foot in 1810, they had buff facings.

It was a close call not to add the 104th New Brunswick Regiment of foot. Ultimately, we went with the Canadian Fencibles because they had one more battle honor than the 104th.

Modifications / Re: A question about the chevrons on jackets.
« on: May 17, 2016, 01:11:16 am »
I would but I don't want to reshape the mesh because the epaulets are not the correct shape.

Edit: Oh and also it has that daft neckerchief thing that looks very out of place on a redcoat.

The shoulder wings and the knot of the neckerchief can be removed from the mesh if you have any software, such as wings 3d, that is capable of editing .obj files.

You can also break the model into sub-meshes with the open brf software and remove what you do not want and then recombine the mesh.

Now I'm making some new skins and all is going well so far, however, I need to make the chevrons in the texture appear on just the right arm of the jacket, not both (as would be achieved by simply putting it on the correct part of the arm texture). I know that it can be done as the 95th rifle sergeant has his chevrons on his right arm.

I would like to know how to make that happen on other classes. Any help at all would be appreciated as I'm rather stumped at the moment.

If you only want the chevrons to appear on the one arm, use the rifle sergeant model and then apply the skin you want to use over it.

I cant get it to work for some reason, the textures just show up white.

It sounds like you didn't copy paste the textures or the dds files from the download into the Textures folder of the module. There is also a War of 1812 full conversion mod if you want the completely immersive experience with native american units and battle maps such as Lundy's Lane and Fort Erie. Just click on the War of 1812 signature below and it will take you to the mod's main page.

This mod as released assumes you are changing the vanilla game. If you have a another previous mod installed this mod will overwrite all the BRF resource files listed in it's download package. If Parrot's mod contains a lot of uniform resource changes that you want to keep, then it is probably not compatible with it.

Good morning/afternoon/evening @Blitz_craig,

I'm simply in love with your Black Brunswicker models! Would it be possible for you to release separately the Braunschweig Lauenberg'sche Jagers (Which replace the KGL 5th Battalion Infantry)? I'd like to keep the 95th Rifles (Given their animosity towards the Brunswickers, I enjoy seeing them both out in the field; then you have the Sharpe's effect) and 1st KGL Hussars. If there's a way to accomplish this with the pack you already created, can someone run me through the steps? If you're unable to create a separate pack, I understand. Thanks for creating this one and hearing me out.

You can undo the mod's implementation of the Brunswick Jagers Rifle company and Brunswick Hussars in your Napoleonic Wars module by using the Open Brf software.

Openbrf (Download Link)
http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,72279.0.html

Open the resource files mmbritishunforms.brf and select and remove all the Brunswick Hussar and Riflemen resources. Now remove the x-  prefix from the names of all of the KGL Hussars and British Riflemen resources. Do the same to the resources in mmbritishhats.brf except don't do anything with the rifle berets.  Finally, select all the rifle beret resources in mmbritishhats.brf and change the material to read "British_hats". Save your changes when prompted. Now reload the module and the KGL Hussars and 95th Rifles should be back in the game.

None of the maps have an AI mesh so most of them will not work well for commander battles.

Spoiler
[close]

everything works fine except the straps for me is what i was saying

The missing material and textures have been added to the download package. Copy and paste the mmtextures.brf file from the download onto the Resource folder of your module and copy and paste the texture files Prussrusshats2.dds and Prussrusshats2_s.dds from the download into the Textures folder of your module. This should correct the problem.

Ok, thanks for the pic. It looks like a missing texture. I'll fix the download.
