Well, I can have this ready for you for Friday, if you want model changes. I've been too damn busy with college these days, and when I get home I tend to be too damn tired to do anything but sleep.

They look outstanding. If there is anything else on the list of units on page 3 that strikes your fancy let us know. Your contribution to our mod is most appreciated.

This will be cool! However, you should stick to your MAW mod, rather than already starting this mod.

If you still plan on finishing this mod I have some research that I'm sure could be useful to you

American cavalry is basically going to be all light dragoons and perhaps a volunteer cavalry regiment. In January of 1812 with the war eminent, congress approved the creation of a second light dragoon regiment, the 1st and 2nd Regiment of United States Dragoons. And in 1813 Richard Mentor Johnson raised two battalions of volunteer cavalry, roughly 1200 men divided into 14 companies. These volunteer cavalrymen earned some fame for clashing with the British 45th Foot and prevailing.

Armament of American dragoons: carbine (I'll find out what model), 1796 light cavalry saber

Armament of American volunteer cavalry: long rifle, random melee (knives, sabers, tomahawks, etc)

US Light Dragoons were not officially issued with carbines but there is reference to them being used at the battle of Chysler's Farm to cover the retreat of the army. There was no US model of carbine being produced at either the Harpers Ferry or Springfield Arsenals. They may have been using cut down muskets like the ones used by the partially pike armed 15th US Infantry.

The US Light Dragoons did not use the British 1796 cavalry saber but one manufactured in the US by Nathan Starr that was very much like it. The only difference being the Starr saber had a clipped point and no scabbard guides on the bottom of the hilt.

The volunteer cavalry that you mention were the Kentucky Mounted Riflemen. The British regiment they charged was the 49th 41st Foot at the battle of the Thames. I am using the US Mounted Rangers as a second US cavalry unit to supplement the US Light Dragoons (see unit list on page 3). They contracted their services with the US government, provided thier own mount and equipment, and would have been dressed and armed very much like the Kentucky Mounted Riflemen.

One last note. The 1st and 2nd US Light Dragoons were consolidated into one regiment by 1814. They were both disbanded after the war because Congress thought them to expensive.

Thank you for the corrections on the weaponry, I didn't look into their weapons too much, in the paintings I saw, the light dragoon sabers looked identical to the British ones so I made the connection but thank you for pointing that out.

Also interesting note, the British regiment that the Volunteer Cavalry charged was the 41st Regiment of Foot, they were the only British infantry regiment present at the battle, the rest were local militias and Native Americans.
