Compare the roster like you want, I would say both are fine for a league with 6 other teams but not against 3 stacked ones. I agree that the way it now have been done is very unlucky, but mistakes happens when you organize such things, I think you made the same experience yourself. It's not 96y or Chriseh or 45e/2eGren or anyones fault that intotal only 11 regiments, including 2 center companies (!), signed up. It is more then ever a big struggle from atleast my POV to balance this season which makes it a bit unfair to draw comparisons to the last one.

In hindsight it might be fair to make the comparison that 55th could have competed vs the bottom of the 6 back then, ignoring the other contextual issues stated in some of these posts and if you go back you'd see for yourself. I think I'd agree on that.

However, we can tit-for-tat all day on the merits of making 96y happy vs. potentially solidifying the result of L2 (and leaving L1 with 3 teams). I'm not convinced the decision is as clear cut or "good" as some are implying.

L1 is goofy this time round for sure - not Price's fault - but L2 looks fine to me as is. I hope I'm wrong in believing 96y will win L2 comfortably now, I really do hope that, but they look very good compared to their comp.

As said I totally agree on that the way it now happend is not the best one. Yet we already have the situation in L2, I would be surprised if the frenchies do not win most of there matches quite comfortably. Personally I would have also been very interested in 2 leagues â 6 team, after that you could have made a "knock out stage" with L1 1-4, 1 L1 5&6 + L2 1&2 and finally L2 3-6. This probably doesn't solve all problems, mostly that you still need 12 teams...

No offence 96ybros, but this french team looks really scary aswell, I still think they have slightly better chances (aside ofc from ze germanz unexpected incredible performence you will all witness!!!) But I get your concerns about the other teams, which probably will all have a hard time vs 96y

As said I totally agree on that the way it now happend is not the best one. I mean we did look at this, but the problem you get is adding a bracket doesn't really solve anything. We wanted to do a playoff bracket where the top 4 L2 teams start in the Q Finals, bottom 2 L1 teams start in Semi Finals, but in terms of giving regiments a "fulfilling experience in RGL" all this playoff bracket would do is give the 3rd place L1 reg something else to win and technically taking a "win away" from the winners of L2.

You are right though, the numbers don't quite add up to do anything like that realistically anyway.

This. 45e looks strong regardless.

I think adding 96y to League 2, not only removes free weeks for regiments (or replacing one as mentioned before), but shakes up L2 a little as I think the top 4(?) was quite cut and dry. 96y are probably on par with at least 3 of the top 5 regiments so should be fun close games. The people making the most noise in complaint to 96y moving down, are just taking a L1 reg joining L2 at face value and doing what I did originally, which was not actually check the roster.

RGL S7 was the Tardet/Shadey editiion, 55th weren't even alive that RGL

Fun fact - 15thYR that season smacked 14e 15-2 and the 14e smacked the 45thN 15-2 a week later (we weren't even bad back then). All of us were in L1 and noone complained - however mind you 20+ regiments signed up for that one

All the memes and history aside, It was clear from speaking to a lot of people that RGL9 should be more community focused than we originally intended. This change for 96y was a step towards that.

I do understand people asking questions, quite rightfuly as well. Especially coming from current or former members of 55th but thank you from me for being understanding that the previous situation with 55th was a bit of a wild one and doesn't quite compare to this. Thank you for being reasonable 

You all know me well enough by now to know I rarely change my mind on things and I am a big stickler for following tournament processes. Whether that be the rules, rosters, threads or whatever. But I had a think as to if I was in Desant's shoes, what would I want from RGL in order to have a fulfilled experience that wouldn't impact RGL in an entirely negative way and this made the most sense. For those that don't know, 18e almost never played outside of tournament seasons because it just wasn't for us to play 3-5 events every week never taking breaks. I imagine I would probably have made a post on FSE complaining about coming back from a 3-4 month break, just to be put into the wrong League in potentially the very last RGL for all we know right now.

EDIT: "I imagine" rofl, almost forget who I am. Of course there would have been a paragraph most likely insulting Maskman somewhere
