Well yeah, like I wrote in the blog, recordings of real musicans has its own up and downsides. It is very expensive and time consuming, and it requires a special setup, as we can not record both drum and fife at the same time.
We also hired a musician, who is more experienced with British Napoleonic tunes. He is self taught and played both the drum and fife in different sessions (again, we can not record them at the same time)
The tunes are not perfect, and we are actually re-recording some of them now, but this is the best we can do for now. I think it is more than acceptable.
Sound quality is good, which is important and most importantly, they are no fifes and drums generated from midi files (Like holdfast), which never miss a note, but sound artificial (because they are
). Our sounds are actual recording of a proper fife and drum.
