Regimental Groupfighting League / [RGL7] Administration
« on: May 04, 2020, 05:13:31 am »

All members of the RGL staff and their respective contact links can be found listed below. It is advised that all regimental leaders have both Head Organisers, and both admins as a friend on steam.

Due to the server scripts being used in this season of the Regimental Groupfighting League, the process of choosing referees will be extremely scrupulous in order to main a high standard of administration. This may mean that only people with previous experience (Senior Referees) or people the RGL staff deem to be trustworthy and level headed (Junior Referees) will be accepted for a role within the team.

Please use the template provided below in order to apply for a role within the RGL administration.

Regimental Groupfighting League / [RGL7] Introduction & Applications
« on: April 24, 2020, 01:47:02 am »

Welcome to the announcement thread of the Regimental Groupfighting League, Season 7. For those unfamiliar with the concept of a competition more widely known as the RGL, the Regimental Groupfighting League has been founded by Phoen!x, Cazasar and Hunter - and with the support of their frequent admin Rommel - such an event has quickly established itself as the reference among the regimental competitive community when it comes to the melee genre. Before the RGL's appearance, the Napoleonic War League (NWL) was the main competitive event where regiments could confront their abilities in 1v1 Linebattles and only the Regimental Groupfighting Tournament (RGT) hosted by Karth - and taken over by Herishey & Crisheh a few years later - had truly managed to put melee has the pivotal point of regimental competition. However, with the RGT being a one-night thing only, the growth for a melee-focused event lasting for an extended period of time became bigger and bigger over the years. Eventually, that's how the RGL was born and since the first edition hosted in March 2015, the event has witnessed five more successful seasons, each with unique storylines and a different winner. Eventually, however, the last edition was dragged on longer than usual and though it got finished in the end, with the 15thYR defeating the K-KA in a nail-biting final, it appeared none among the tournament admins were planning on hosting another season after that, as they all took a step-back from Napoleonic Wars.

Almost one year has passed since then, and from the look of things, the RGL S6 indeed was to be the last edition ever hosted. Recently, however, I have contacted Shadey and convinced him about organizing the RGL S7 alongside me. We both came to believe that such a prestigious event deserved an ending worthy of the time, effort and standards the RGL founders have put into each season and we felt that the last edition ending didn't exactly do justice to that, as any sort of hype was pretty much gone from all parties involved at the time. We are fully aware of what challenge hosting such a competition is but we both feel like we have the experience and interest to carry on with such an important legacy. Both Cazasar and Phoen!x have entrusted us with the responsibility of taking the RGL over and though we feel extremely happy about that, only time will tell if we truly were able to live-on to the former glory this competition once had. Be assured, however, that we will put the highest effort into hosting a professional, enjoyable and competitive event so that we can not only provide the NW community with a good tournament but also show its former hosts they took the right decision in giving us carte blanche.

On this thread, you will find all the required information about this season of the RGL accompanied by a sign-up form which you can already fill-up. In due time, we will move this thread to the RGL child-board where you will be able to find a more complete ruleset alongside other complementary information. We hope regiments from all side of the community will continue to show endless support as they did for past editions. Shadey and I remain at your entire disposal if any questions remain but we insist you read the FAQ before attempting at contacting us.

Sign-up Deadline: 3rd of May
First Week Matches: 4th of May.
    Hosts: Tardet & Shadey
Format: League Stage - 15v15 (+)

Below, you will find a couple of frequently asked questions, which we hope will clarify several points. We are obviously open for discussion and would very much like to hear your suggestions as we know not everything is optimal yet, starting with the competition official schedule. There are some compromises we had to make and some will be explained here.

Spoiler
Q/ Why did you decide to go with the RGL format?
A/ Shadey and I both believe this competition to be something special and though every regiment is obviously going to approach the whole thing differently, the RGL truly offers a completely different dimension. You can literally start from the bottom and matches after matches, work-out the ultimate formula. It rewards players who over the months, work hard to try and improve in order to find their place among the line-up of their regiment. The format is the closest possible to your normal groupfighting in term of size and gives importance to every single player in your team. There is a lot of room for tactical approaches if you wish to dive into it as a leader. Truly, if you have not experienced it yet, you must give it a try as very few other competitions on NW give that sort of feeling.

We also intend to capitalize on the RGT hype which is why we want to start the RGL right after it.

Q/ Why hosting it now and why is the deadline for sign-ups so short?
A/ There is obviously an argument about both the upcoming exams and the summer vacations being an issue which is why we aim at finishing the tournament by the first week of July at the latest. We could have waited for September/October but it's impossible to know in which state the community will be by that time nor if Shadey and myself will still have the time to commit to such a big event. We believe with the current lockdown, the situation will be still particular for a while and we want to use that to our advantage. We don't need more than one week and a half to be fully operational, the 2v2 hosted by Kincaid is coming to an end this week or the next one - and with no other regimental events being planned, we don't think there is necessarily the need to wait for longer. We understand the overall schedule might not be to everyone's liking and we insist that if the majority of the current leaders who would partake in that league happens to prefer delaying the tournament to September/October 2020, it's not too late to call off the event. That's where your feedback will be key and I certainly prefer you to be honest with yourselves and us and not commit to a competition if you know your players will start to go missing by mid-June.

We also have solutions to keep the same amount of matches but shorten the event significantly, solutions which will eventually discuss with the regimental leaders involved.

Q/ Is the format stuck to 15v15 or can we play more?
A/ The format will be a minimum of 15v15, like previous editions, however, we strongly encourage every regiment to try and increase that number in as many matches as possible. We know it won't be possible for every regiment, every match, but the RGL is about building a somewhat large line-up and getting it to work together, not just taking your 10 best players and going against the 10 other best players of other regiments for one night like the RGT is. There is something more to it, and we hope most of the regiment participating will try to observe that kind of mindset as the event will definitely prove much more enjoyable and epic that way.

Q/ Will the rules be the same as former RGLs?
A/ The rules will be mostly similar to previous editions as we believe there is no reason to completely change something which has been working previously. You can expect us to be stricter than past editions when it comes to monitoring official matches (making sure they are organized properly), transfer mid-competition and the likes but overall, if you have already played an RGL, you should experience the same sort of standards as before.

Welcome to the first edition of The Fighting Pit. After seeing MarxeiL's very original idea of the 3v3 Stand-Off Series - and mistaking it at first for a regular 3v3 tournament - I discussed with some players and came under the conclusion that quite a few people would actually very much enjoy playing a smaller format kind of group fighting tournament, especially a 3v3 as it's been a long time a proper one has been hosted, so here I am. I don't plan on making this a regular feature for now but we will see what the future brings us.

The tournament will, therefore, be a regular one-night competition. Something relatively simple and relaxed yet I might consider throwing a little prize-pool depending on how things unfold with other events I'm currently involved with.

Event Day: Friday 1st of May | 20:00 BST | Sign-up Deadline: Thursday 30th of April | 23:30 BST| Roster Deadline: Friday 1st of May | 17:00 BST

Format: The tournament matches will be played out in an 3v3 format, with a group stage followed by a knockout stage. The limit of participants is fixed to 32 teams for now.

Main Hosts: Tardet & Fwuffy | Consultant: -

Roster Rules
- The roster limit is fixed to 4 players, with 3 players from the main line-up and 1 substitute.
- You don't need to specify who is part of the main line-up and who is a substitute while applying for the tournament as every player can be switched in-between rounds and matches, independently.
- Players have to be signed up with their community names. Roleplay names are tolerated so long as anyone can clearly identify the player(s) behind them.
- A player can only be featured on one single roster.
- Captains are required to sign-up all their players and themselves with a unique GUID. Teams which do not provide a roster with a unique GUID for each of their members won't be accepted for this tournament.
- Captains can add players up to three hours before the start of the tournament. After that, the roster will be locked and no more changes will be accepted.
[close]

Match Rules
- Group stage matches and Round 1, 2 & 3 of the knockout stage will be FT5. Semi-finals and bronze match will be FT7. Grand-final will be FT10.
- Every player has to play with the name they have been signed-up as. Variations can be allowed, as long as we can still identify who you are.
- Every player has to wear the tag of their team.
- Players which are part of the same team may not use identical in-game faces.
- You may only spawn in once your team's name is called.
- You may only enter the arena if you are playing.
- Substitutes can spawn in but will be expected to obey by the rules and not disturb the on-going matches.
- Captains are expected to type 'R' or 'Ready' in the chat before every round so that the referee can make the round go 'live'.
- Line infantry is the only class allowed.
- The bayonet is the only weapon allowed.
- Melee speed will be on medium.
[close]

Behaviour Rules
- Captains are to ensure their players obey by the rules.
- Players are expected to behave with certain standards and act in a respectful manner.
- No intentional teamkilling outside of the arenas.
- If you are a substitute, don't interrupt the on-going matches by jumping on the fences, running around (with flags or not), punching each other's, etc.

The Mess Hall / Historia Continuum - January Update
« on: September 06, 2019, 12:13:59 am »

Historia  Continuum

Historia Continuum is a project Tiberias and I started at the end of 2019. With the announcement of Bannelord EA set to March 2020, we felt like it was the right timing to compile as much information within one thread and through it, allow people to look back at some of Napoleonic War most iconic moments. However, overwhelmed by the amount of work the project represented, we took a break from it and it's only today that as a Christmas gift to one of the best person I have met on this game (and also to not let what we had already done go to waste), that I decided to post the years we had finished. In its early development, this thread will be dedicated to delivering a list of all the Napoleonic Wars competitive events ever played since the dawn of the DLC, up to that very day. It is aimed at being a tribute to the different generation of players which contributed to developing our scene, delivering the most accurate picture possible of different teams, regiments and players' performances over the years. With time, we might consider looking at other aspects of the community worth being remembered, but our primary focus at first will be solely on the competitive side of things. In the post just below, you will be able to find detailed information on the general advancement of this project and the people behind it.

Historia Continuum will not feature any ratings, as we aim at delivering the least opinionated work possible. With that being said, while we intend to provide information based on facts, this project essentially consists of hours of data gathering and therefore, we cannot assure you that every single piece of information you will find on here is correct. A mistake could easily have slipped through or the source of information itself could be wrong, so we count on the community to help us fix everything which needs to be.

This will probably always remain a work in progress, as the amount of information which can be added to such a thread is pretty much limitless. Whenever Tiberias and I have time, we will continue adding new features and categories to the thread in order for it to be the most complete and detailed possible.

Let us welcome you, stranger, as you have now decided to venture into the Napoleonic Wars archives.

The Mess Hall / Native Community - Update
« on: July 17, 2019, 11:31:21 pm »
In the past, I used to make a post whenever I wanted to inform the NW players about some native events they could have an interest in. I figured out it would be best to make one post with regular updates. Moreover, now that more native people are active on FSE such as Gibby, they can also share stuff if they wish to. Might interest some people here.

Tournament: Warband Native League 8
Statut: Week 1 on-going.
Schedule: Sign-up closed.
Description: Most legendary tournament in warband (atleast on native). Could also very well be the last one.T
Tournament Thread Link: Here

Will try to get this updated as often as possible.

26
It's no secret, I plan on organizing a groupfighting league in the upcoming months. I have several ideas on what I want to bring, also already have several people willing to help me out as admin but because there is still a few weeks before I release the thread, I figured out it would be worth to discuss certain aspects of this league. I don't have everyone on steam, I don't necessarily contact everyone I have there either as it's time confusing, but having as many people as possible voicing an opinion will hopefully help me taking decisions which please a majority of the players.

Here are the aspects of the tournament which I would like to discuss, from the 'less likely' to change, to the 'most likely':

Schedule
Without agreeing on a proper format, it's hard to plan on how long that league could last. However, I already know that this will 'likely' start in September. I don't favor starting a league early or mid-august because it's usually vacations time for many people and while some obviously have better availabilities, some other are simply not home.

The main argument I had in favor of starting a league in August is that people will be busy with school/work in September. While it's true, competitive leagues/tournament happen every time of the year, not necessarily during vacations. It's mostly about people to learn managing their priorities and not committing to a league of this stature if they are having heavy studies. Moreover, even while starting in August, the league would still need to continue during a September for sometime so in my eyes, it's a false argument.
[close]

Size
At the moment, I'm leaning towards 6v6 or 7v7. If you want to argue about the advantages of 5v5 or 8v8, feel free, but do know I have considered all of them and there is a reason if I feel 6v6/7v7 are more fitting for this sort of competition.
[close]

Format
That's probably the aspect of the tournament where I'm the more willing to hear your suggestions. I have pretty much seen all type of viable format, most of them have been tried on warband at one point, and most of them have their pros & cons. You can opt for a league with several divisions (that's really interesting if you plan on having several editions of your league happening, then you have promotion matches each seasons, gives a chance for teams to go up), you can go for the usual group + knockouts or you have the round robin + knockouts, etc ..

Even thought I have some ideas in my head of what I would like to do, I am still not too sure what would be the best with the current state of the community so that's why I am hoping for some feedbacks.
[close]

The European Groupfighting Tournament is intended to be a series of several tournaments hosted to provide the community with both a competitive, qualitative but more importantly impartial environment. We will put a special effort into being as transparent as possible to make sure our players get the best experience possible. The European Groupfighting Tournament is not supported by the Tournament Organisational Group but we will try our best to respect their schedules within the realm of possibility, as we feel it is in the best interest of the community. Because we aim at developing certain standards in the events we will be hosting, we also expect the players partaking in them to show behaviours in line with our perceptions of what a good tournament is. In short, rules might be a tad stricter than usual but it's for your own good.

Event Day: Sunday 7th of July | 20:00 BST |   Sign-up Deadline: Saturday 6th of July | 23:30 BST |   Roster Deadline: Sunday 7th of July | 17:00 BST

Format: The tournament matches will be played out in an 8v8 format, in a single stage, using double elimination rules. The limit of participants is fixed to 12 teams.

Main Hosts: Tardet & Shadey | Consultant: Fwuffy

Roster Rules
- The roster limit is fixed to 11 players, with 8 players from the main line-up and 3 substitutes.
- You don't need to specify who is part of the main line-up and who is a substitute while applying for the tournament as every player can be switched in-between rounds and matches, independently.
- Players have to be signed up with their community names. Roleplay names or others won't be accepted.
- A player can play for one team and one team only and can therefore not be included on two different team rosters for the same tournament.
- Captains are required to sign-up all their players and themselves with a unique GUID. Teams which do not provide a roster with a unique GUID for each of their members won't be accepted for this tournament
- Captains can add players up to one hour before the start of the tournament. After that, the roster will be locked and no more changes will be accepted.

Match Rules
- Round 1 and 2 of the upper and lower brackets will be FT5, with round 3 of both brackets being FT7. Semi-finals are to also be played in an FT7 format. Both the Final and Grand-final (If it comes to it) are to be played in FT7 format.
- Every player has to play with the name they have been signed-up as. Variations can be allowed, as long as we can still identify who you are.
- Every player has to wear the tag of their team.
- Players which are part of the same team may not use identical in game faces.
- You may only spawn in once your team's name is called.
- You may only enter the arena if you are playing.
- Substitutes can spawn in but will be expected to obey by the rules and not disturb the on-going matches.
- Captains are expected to type 'R' or 'Ready' in the chat before every round so that the referee can type 'live'.
- Line infantry is the only class allowed.
- The bayonet is the only weapon allowed.
- Melee speed will be on medium.

- Players are expected to behave with certain standards and act in a respectful manner.

Cavalry Champions League / [CCL - S1] League Stage - Week 4
« on: February 04, 2019, 12:39:04 am »

Spoiler
The third week provided both players and viewers with intense match-ups and some rather unexpected results.

The match opposing the 11e to the 16e was expected to be rather one-sided but once again, 16e continue on their good trend and surprised many people as they secured the defensive bonus at the end of the match, despite a strong start from the 11e.
For Lindblom's men, the issues they had against the 5e seem to have translated into that match, to a lesser extent. They managed to gain 4 important points but it was the least expected from them and they certainly missed a good occasion to improve their round-difference. Things are not worrying for the 11e just yet but matches like this one reflect potential deeper issues, which will required quick fixes if the 11e intends to continue being a strong competitor in the CCL.

For the second of last week, the 1erRC didn't shake and went for a large victory against the 2Lr. It was expected that the German regiment would struggle against the powerful heavy line-up, nonetheless, picking-up two rounds against them isn't necessarily a bad result and a slight improvement in regards to their past matches this competition. It definitely is a good operation for the 1eRC, as it will significantly improve their rankings in the league table and serve as a good motivational boost for future encounters.

If the 16e picking-up 4 rounds against the 11e was certainly an unexpected result on its own right, it went rather unnoticed due to a way bigger upsets caused by the Nr4 which had to face their German counterpart from the Nr6. If this match had the potential to be a tense battle with some close rounds, the Nr6 was still coming in as the heavy favourite and not many could have imagined the Nr4 taking-up such a large victory against one of strongest contender for the CCL title, 9-1.
A come-back never appeared like a likely possibility for the Nr6 and after two complicated matches where they had shown lots of potential but couldn't prevent the come-back from their opponents, the Nr4 truly showed what they were capable of. In a similar fashion to the 5e which defeat the 11e in the previous week, this match truly established Felix and his men as true contenders for the title and would they manage to reiterate similar performance later on, they could quickly become one of the deadliest force to contend with in this competition. For the Nr6, the ship isn't isn't sinking just yet. Sure, such a large defeat against an arguably weaker opponent comes at a rather unfortunate moment, as it was the first real test for them in the CCL. But the Nr6 has lots of resources and is definitely capable to bounce back from this counter-performance, as it was shown by them in the past.

Pretty much at the same time all these three matches were played, another clash was happening between the 4e and the 5e. This Classico had all the signals to be one hell of a battle and it surely didn't disappoint. Both regiments kept trading rounds back and forth and it was hard to see which one would come on top. Skittle's 1v4 clutch certainly was a turning point as it prevented the 5e to take the upper-hand, but quickly after, the Frenchmen answered with an instrumental 4v7. Taking the lead 5-4, the 5e had the perfect occasion to conclude that match but it was without counting on the 4e's experience when it comes to these difficult situations. As the francophone regiment seemed to run out of steam in the late stage of his match, the 4e had no problem whatsoever closing that match, securing the draw and keeping their undefeated streak against their oldest rival. The 5e can certainly share some regrets as they could almost smell the victory in this match but they missed the very final touch and against an opponent which excels in these sort of high-pressure scenarios, this 5-5 feels like a rather logical result, while also confirming the good form both these regiments have been having lately.
