Regimental March of the 52nd
History
In December 1755 Britain was about to be drawn into the Seven Years War (1756-63) and its Army was in need of men. One of the new regiments raised that month was the 54th Foot, which had risen to 52nd by the time it was sent to Ireland in 1758. There it stayed until 1765 when it moved to Canada, surviving a shipwreck en route off the coast of Nova Scotia.

In 1774 it moved to Boston where it remained until the outbreak of the American War of Independence (1775-83). The regiment fought at Lexington (1775) and Bunker Hill (1775) but suffered so badly in the campaign that its few survivors had to be drafted to other regiments in 1778 while its officers returned to England to re-recruit.

The re-formed regiment gained the county affiliation of Oxfordshire in 1782. It remained in England until 1783, when it deployed to India. There it served in the Second (1780-84) and Third Mysore Wars (1789-92), including the Siege of Cananore (1783) during the former and the Battles of Bangalore (1791) and Seringapatam (1792) during the latter. The 52nd also fought at Pondicherry in 1793 and at Trincomalee on Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in 1795.

The regiment only landed back in Britain in 1798 and a year later raised a 2nd Battalion. Both battalions were then immediately sent on raids against the Spanish coast, including Ferrol (1800). In 1801 Sir John Moore became the regiment’s colonel and later that year he suggested 1st Battalion transform to operate as light infantry.

In 1803 2nd Battalion became an independent regiment as the 96th Foot and the following year the 52nd raised a new 2nd Battalion. This fought at Copenhagen (1807) before joining the Peninsular War (1808-14), where it served at Vimeiro (1808). The following year it took part in the Walcheren Expedition (1809) and served in Flanders from 1813 until disbandment in 1815.

In the meantime, 1st Battalion had been sent to Sicily (1806), Sweden (1808) and the Peninsula, where it fought at Vimeiro (1808), Corunna (1809), Douro (1809), Busaco (1810), Fuentes de Onoro (1811), Ciudad Rodrigo (1812), Badajoz (1812), Salamanca (1812), Burgos (1812), Vitoria (1813), Bidassoa (1813), Nivelle (1813), Nive (1813), Orthes (1814) and Toulouse (1814). The battalion was chosen so often to lead storming parties in that theatre that its colonel granted survivors of such assaults an arm badge showing a laurel wreath and the letters ‘VS’ for ‘Valiant Stormer’.

In 1815 the regiment fought at Waterloo and helped break the final advance of the Imperial Guard. In November 1818 it became the last British battalion to leave France at the end of the Allied occupation.

Our Regiment
We are a new regiment made up of both old and new players of Napoleonic Wars, our aim is to cater to those who are very busy, or wish to only have one or two events a week which shall be on the weekends. Training will only happen for new players to the game who need to learn basic drill. We believe those that have had multiple hours in previous regiments can practice their skills on various Public servers rather than being forced to do a mundane training every week or before an event.
We are currently focusing on EU players, and may branch out to NA in the future.

We do not have a strict atmosphere and we shall allow talking during moments where we are not in combat in a LB, but we do not tolerate trolling.
