That is false, incredibly. When you shoot it in the head, it dies instantly. When you shoot it in the shoulder, you have a slight chance of killing it instantly (if, by chance, you managed to hit certain parts such as the jugular), and a large chance of the deer bleeding out for up to fifteen a few seconds. If what you say is true, then I guess there's just a difference between ethical and humane.
Edit: I did use a hyperbole. It runs around bleeding for a few seconds at most (in most cases).
In addition, most hunters do aim for the shoulder area, as to preserve the head for mounting it, or other things.
Edit Edit: I suppose I should note that I aim for the shoulder, for reasons pertaining to butchering the animal for food, but all I am saying is that either way is reasonable.
