Saphyro's Duel Tournament 1.ExTaZz94 2. Rune 3. LeBrave
« on: May 03, 2020, 11:54:53 am »

Hello and welcome to the first Tournament hosted by Saphyro (me). Most of the active infantry scene do not know me as a person, so I take advantage of the hour and introduce myself shortly so that some can get a little impression of me. Yes, don't worry, I'll keep it short! I am mainly a cavalry player, but I also like to take part in one or the other infantry event and try to help out there as a referee and have now decided to hold my first own tournament. I hope you won't take it too badly if things don't go well, but I will try my best to make you all enjoy playing NW! I would like to mention in advance that, compared to previous tournaments, some rules are new or are being enforced more strictly. I will actively punish any insults, provocations or other unsportsmanlike and disrespectful acts. Sporty fair and respectful handling leads to a more pleasant environment and a less toxic community.

I am aware that a duel tournament will lead to some problems and complaints, especially because this type of tournament also requires that everyone who is willing to participate shows a good sporting spirit and does not aim to beat Person X or provocate Person X with a passive/annoying style of play! At this point I appeal to every player to behave positively so that a high quality competition can be guaranteed here. I don't want to apologize in advance for possible mistakes, but I would like to point out again that this is my first self-organized tournament + without an experienced partner at my side and that this could lead to minor errors, problems or anything else. I am therefore happy about every player who offers me his help in any form and intensity! I wish every participant/duelist good luck and have fun!

This Tournament is only for fun and isnt a basis for a ranking system!

Information

Tournament Day: 23rd of May (Saturday) at 20:00 BST or 21:00 CEST

Sign-up closed: 22nd of May (Friday) at 23:30 BST or 00:30 CEST (Saturday)

Format: Double-Elimination Bracket

If you got questions then message/add me: Saphyro

Rules

General rules

1.) No Cheating/Hacking/Glitching
2.) People have to carry the name they applied with
2.1) You are allowed to take a "fantasy" name as long as you write your better-known name in the application
3.) No Fighting outside the Arenas once the Tournament has started
4.) The only allowed weapon is obviously the bayonet
5.) The only allowed class is the Line Infantry
6.) Melee speed: medium
7.) Stay in Spectator unless you get called in for your match
8.) People who sign up with an incorrect GUID wont be able to participate
9.) Account sharing or any other things against sportsmanship-rules are forbidden

Match rules

1.) Every Duel will be a FT-3. Quarterfinals FT-5 and Semifinals FT-7 while the Final will be FT-10. (These numbers might change due to the unknown player amount)
2.) Every duelist has to signal that he is ready before the duel starts
3.) All kind of requests to the Referees/Admins must be formulated in a friendly way (score, heal, pause etc.)
4.) Between every round in a duel the player got maximum of 2 minutes. If both players agree it can go up to maximum of 4.
5.) You got 4 minutes to join the proper arena once you got called out.
6.) General delaying or inactive playstyle will result in an auto-win for the other player.
7.) Write a "gg" in the chat once the duel is over and then go to spectator-mode.
8.) Make sure to NOT leave the server. If your game crashes make sure to tell a referee just for the case you got called out during your absence on the server to avoid an auto-win.
8.1) You are allowed to leave the server once you are out of the tournament but it would be nice if you keep being in spectator to watch the other matches being played :)

Behaviour- and Punishment rules

1.) No T-Bag (even when you are friends, it is impossible to know for every referee that Person X and Y are friends)
2.) No Corpse-Kick
3.) No delaying (!!!)
4.) No trolling
5.) Respect and fair play to every participant even though you may dont like each other
6.) The final decision is always the word of the host/admin/referee
7.) Admin insulting or flaming/blaming is not allowed
7.1) This will lead to an automatical ban from at least this tournament and maybe also from possible tournaments in the future
8.) Player insulting, laughing about less-skilled players or anything that doesnt belong to sportsmanship-behaviour will also lead into an elimination of the player from the tournament.
8.1) If a player insults in the group stage all his match results will be automatically be 0-5
8.2) If a player insults in the knock-out stage then the opponent will automatically win the match. It is not possible to count the groupstage matches automatically as a defeat :(
8.2.2) If the player breaks a rule in the first knock-out stage it is still possible to count his matches as defeats and the next best player in the group may advance to the knockout-stage
9.) No spamming in the chat, keep personal stuff in the private steam chats so the internal admin chat can be read easier!
10.) For general Punishment it will be a 3-point-punishment.
10.1) First rulebreak leads into a lost round in the match. If the rulebreak is outside of the matches it will be a 0-1 start for the next match.
10.1.1) If the participant is already eliminated he will be banned from the spectator and will receive a warning for the next tournament
10.2) Second rulebreak leads into an automatical defeat (0-5 or more depending on the phase in the tournament). If the rulebreak is outside of the matches it will be an automatical defeat for the next match
10.2.2) If the participant is already eliminated he will be banned from the spectator and will receive a ban (!) for the next tournament
10.3) At the third rulebreak or at a major "crime" like hacking glitching the player will be banned from all tournaments hosted by Saphyro for at least 365 days.
11.) The Referees/Admins will ensure and make use of these rules with no mercy, no special rights or exception for anyone. This may not be liked by everyone but my tournament my rules!

There is no space at my tournament for this kind of behaviour!

Please no groupstages in a duel tournament.

A single elimination bracket would lead into just 1 or 2 matches when there is a double-elimination bracket for the "weaker" players, I would prefer to have multiple matches for all players in-case people just fail at one match :)

edit: but the format isnt locked yet so if the majority of the people would prefer no groupstage then I would be up for a change there

Double elimination is perfectly fine. If you suck, you suck :D. Also make it at least FT5 from the start (in case of no groupstage) because FT3 is just way too random.

If you go with groupstages and plan to start at 8pm UK time good luck finishing before 12am UK time.

Last duel tournament you rage quit inside 5 mins haha
So let’s just ignore someone like Maskman who knows next to nothing about leading and the capabilities of regiments performing well in a linebattle type of event.
To state that anyone on a “good day could beat the 77y/15thYR” is just a meme of its own, if that was the case why don't you beat the 77y or 15thYR then!?
