NW Community Representative Voting
Hey Everyone,
Today is the day. Each person will get 1 vote, make sure to use it wisely. Also, who you vote for will be public, so the administrators can better watch for potential abuses. After seven days we will take the top ten players with the most votes and give them access to the new area. We will repeat this process in the future, although the interval has not yet been determined.
Some tips for those voting and not sure who exactly they want to vote for. I would say take a look at a perspective persons post history, warnings, and apparent status within the community. Make sure that they best represent yourself and who you would want to see argue for you in the position.
Please use this thread from now on to discuss the ongoing elections.
Good luck to the representatives, I look forward to seeing who the community will decide best represents them!
Information
1. A re-election will occur every 2 months.
2. You are allowed to vote once.
3. You will be able to see the results after the voting has ended but rest assured that we will be monitoring the elections.
4. We will take daily screenshots of the voting, to be posted at the end of the election.
5. Anyone caught trying to rig the election by creating duplicate accounts will be banned immediately.
6. Remember to abide by the forum policy and please report anyone who doesn't.

My program:
-I will fight against the hegemony of few people that consider they have all the rights!

However, that is why the votes will be displayed once the election is over. You will also be able to view who voted for whom at that time.
I could even take daily screenshots to be posted at the end of the election, if that would put your mind at ease.

They're being kept out of sight so people don't become outraged and create all sorts of ugly drama and whatnot over who voted for who, how many votes someone has, etc. etc. like there was in the Champions of Europe voting.

Good question, makes it nice and easy for them to rig the winners.
While Rig is too strong a word, I believe the reason they have done it is to prevent the effect that voting has on people. People will want to vote ideologically, but if they see a candidate with only 10 votes, and the top people have over 100, then people will decide to vote for their preferred candidate who is likely to win. This is known as Tactical voting.
It would favour the FSE if there was not possible way to vote tactically as it would draw possible support away from less well known candidates and have them done more in favour of those who are already prominent, and many of the FSE staff have likely dealt with before. Recruiting from within your own inner circle. However... a well organised candidate can break this.

A lot of the people I see on the list I have either never heard of or know they're taking it as a joke. I just hope people who get voted actually want to improve the community and take what they get to do so.

This community is it's own worst enemy, people like Mack saying how there shouldn't be any drama, and then insulting tav, well done for contradicting yourself in the same post. Posting pictures saying "vote for me" makes you look like an immature dumbass and you are probably going to lose potential voters. It's a useless thing. If there's 10 community representatives, and Tavington will be representing the 91st, that would mean 91st is 10% of the community. That's not true.

I don't want to start bashing all Tavington supporters, that would just be nuts, but you're someone defending Tavs while voting for him. Hm.
Of course they trust their leaders. My regiment trusts me. But they're all biased opinions regardless. I told some people in my regiment about a certain conversation in this thread, and they all voted for me. When I asked "Did you check the other users to see if they're a better candidate than me?", one said "Yeah, but I don't know any of them.", and I received similar responses from others. It's a bit of a palmface moment for me, stooping to the same level as Tavington, in a less dramatic degree, but it does go to show the biased opinions regiment members have for their leaders.
"Oh yeah, they lead me in line battles, they're an amazing candidate for community representative!"

I myself voted for Megabura, he's always seemed to be a level headed, reasonable person with a fair amount of common sense.

It's a bit of a palmface moment for me, stooping to the same level as Tavington, in a less dramatic degree, but it does go to show the biased opinions regiment members have for their leaders.
I am not in Tav's regiment = = your logic invalid. My belief is that if this is to work we need all shades of the community involved, including the green tavington.

7. Posting private conversations without permission
The key word there being private. A message said in global admin chat is hardly private, so can be posted.
HorseMan thinks that the server that Gentil was on was probably not the official servers and as such its not a public place, it make be unlocked but it is still private, if HorseMan unlocks the doors of his stable it does not make it a public place.
Another example could be that a steam log with 10 people, does that mean that this is also a public place?
Thats just HorseMan's guess, if it was on one of the offical servers then HorseMan would feel your post would have validity.

I'm posting this because i believe u should know some information about me. i have helped community and several regiments in the past some people may not know me my original name is hershaft, But all i have to say is that i want to see that the community take the best measures in benefiting this community and i hope everyone in this community believe in that to. For those who would like to know, I am a person of understanding and that i understand if i lose the election that they always a next time but if i win then i know that i have been given a responsibility on my shoulders and that will need wise people to handle it.

Although HorseMan partly agrees with that there is a fatal flaw in doing it that way, the recent events have proved that the Devs have struggled to pick good admins and other roles that are part of their team, so how would they pick fairly, HorseMan does not say this to be offensive it would just be common nature to pick people that would be more inclined to support their choices, which would break the whole system.

It looks like most of you are posting to do with Tavington. I could say it looks like you haven't even took the time to think about 1. who is generally quite neutral 2. doesn't post useless stuff and 3. Act's in a mature manner all the time and is there mainly just so the community can have a lot of fun. My point being, a lot of you haven't looked at the others on the list carefully or just disregard them cause you don't know them. Learn about them at least, being from the forums, from people that know them well, then judge on who should be representative. Just because you think this might also not be worth it. If you don't even try and do it properly, do you think anything will get sorted in the long run anyway.

You have to remember that once you get past all the really popular choices like 5arge and Tavington, there aren't really that many other huge runners. It's not going to be difficult to make the top 10 unless you're completely unknown.

As many people have said before or maybe not that too much, voting for ones own leader is only natural and everyone else is most likely doing it as well. You've most likely been with this said leader for a while and have grown quiet a strong respect for that said person and that's mainly why these people in their regiment will vote for that said person, just getting in a hisses fit and getting your knickers in a twist because one regiment has more people than yours does not mean your entitled to complain, if anything its your fault for not being good enough to recruit more people and get to that level were you can get a lot of your regiment to vote.
Even if it was for one person to be the voice the majority of people would have spoken to have gotten that person that spot, even if it was from one regiment that is still the majority of people in the community, well it must be if it won the vote. Perhaps if you are so passionate about wanting one person to win you should get your said buddies to vote as well.

If he gets enough votes to be in the top ten, then clearly he is representing a large part of this community. Regardless of whether they are all 91st and the regiments that attend his Line Battles, if they are willing to vote for him as their representative then that is THE COMMUNITY saying "Enough of us want him in this group to be our voice".
Just because they are not what you consider "The Community" and you may not agree with what Tav says or does, doesn't mean their vote has any less worth than yours.
It is only 1 slot within the batch that is being given out however, there are plenty of chances for everyone else.

I think the idea of impeachment and relections should be brought up. If members disagree with a representative they can either impeach said person or a relection could be done every 2 months or so.
I think relections would constantly refresh the representative body tuning them to what the community feels (since its always changing).

It's also because in the grand scheme of things, NW won't last long enough to get sufficient fulfillment from a 2 month or longer term cycle. For all we know NW may be dead in six months, and many people will have been left without a say, and others will have served too long.
Also, I talked to Rejenorst about this and he said it was a good idea. I'm not sure if he's spoken to anyone about it yet though.

Im thinking that the 2nd round will be more effective due to experience and people who arnt a fit discontinuing and people who really wish to take a go at it try.

My advice is don't let all the different arguments, choices, "propaganda", and all that other stuff overwhelm you. Focus on your own preferences and your beliefs alone, and you'll be able to make a choice that you will be happy with.

Well, I would like to have my application removed from this. After recent events I feel that I want no involvement with FSE what so ever, they are moving into very very shady grounds legally now, ontop of the moral gray-area they have inhabited for ages.

That was a matter of individual concern, brought up personally with one of the developers. If someone truly wishes to make a case for a refund they need to personally discuss the matter with FSE through Olafson. Donations were freely given for Battle Cry of Freedom. FSE cannot be held hostage by those who donated for the development of a game.

It's hardly a matter of personal concern. You are a company, and they BOUGHT, you can call it donating but in a legal sense they bought it, and that means that you cannot treat people just as you want. It is not a random gift of gratitude for donating, it's something that is delivered as per a contract.
He can and probably will bring it up with his consumer protection agency, and they will bring it up with FSE, and since you nicely made the Craig precedent the consumer protection agency will have a very valid case. I would advise you to pay him, it's 20 euros and the amount of negative things that can come out of not paying are alot greater. But then again, my advise has habitually been refused and look where you are now...
Theres a disclaimer that states donations are non-refundable, if I donate towards a charity for starving children and then a few weeks later decide I want my money back? No, that doesnt work like that.

This whole situation reeks of hypocrisy and unfair treatment of key members of the community and in all honesty is no longer a pleasant place to be ,if anything it seems as if the community is rotten from the core and every aspect of it is affected. I certainly don't want to have to be stuck with the multitude of problems that are certain to continue increasing, especially if the few people on the poll who might have actually made a difference are pulling out.

People need to stop thinking FSE is out to ruin the community. That destructive attitude is what's ruining the community. FSE does a lot to please the community; they spend time to update a game the community loves even though they're very busy with a new project (keep in mind, that new project will make them some money in the future, but the game they work on for all of you, even after the way all of you treat them, won't make them even $~200 more than they've already made), they made mistakes that they corrected by the request of the community, I could go on and on, but that's not the point. FSE works their hearts out for the community, so stop thinking FSE hates you, community.
As for Tavington, he had it out for him. As if he wasn't already, for the past while, he's been trotting around the forum acting as if he owns the entire damned thing. Here and there, he would break the rules, get himself muted, and instead of learning from that, continue doing what he's done to mess up his position further. And his third strike? Do we not all know what his third strike was? Repeatedly bashing homosexuality. I know there's always going to be the gay-bashing people who only do it because they want to convince to the world that they're not, and as if it's a bad thing to be gay. Tavington just had a determination to make trouble, because he felt unpunishable with all the mindless support he's been getting.
And before anyone tries it on me, no, I'm not behind FSE when I'm saying this. I respect FSE, but I don't love them like a lapdog loves their owner's lap. I'm 100% community member, 0% FSE-developer. I don't get paid by FSE, therefore why I should I back them up? None of the FSE-supporters who aren't FSE-developers themselves get paid by FSE. But damn, it makes a lot more sense for me to support the side I actually like than the one filled with trolls.

In reference to Audiate's post, no the destructive thoughts of the community are not ruining it, FSE shitty decisions are ruining it, people are even wanting refunds now. As ironic as it is, he was banned for his constant being muted. Being muted 3 times in a 6 month or less period of time results in a permanent ban. Don't call it a cover up when it was more like a fuck up on Tavington's fault for wanting fair rules, before reading them.

Windbushe was not notified, a whole load of people were notified during a thread some time. It was in direct response to Hekko posting Vincenzo's private message of woe. Hekko's thread wasn't derailed and your broad statistic of other threads being derailed is equally false. Most of them (if taken off-topic) were done so due to people who disagreed and thus put their ideas into the pot.

When I break a rule, I report myself. If I fuck up, it's out there anyway. May as well speed up the process. For example, once I flamed rather hard on an unban thread, got 40% warning, I requested they ban me due to the amount of flame I was starting up that night.

Yeah we've all heard the nice guys finish last speech before, Tavington spoke his mind and didn't need to censor himself in order to please other people, he was antagonistic at times but I respect someone who is going to be genuine with me rather than someone who hides behind passive aggressiveness the whole time, not only that most of his posts were funny or entertaining, if you want to know why you get bashed, It's probably because you have a huge amount of posts, not saying this is my personal opinion but by what i've heard in teamspeak, you lose credibility if you have so many posts compared to others, which I actually agree with as I have always favoured quality over quantity.

- I manage the NW Regiment List
- I have a regiment in NW which has a topic filled with questions that I've answered (to be honest, I was a bit of a bump whore on there, but I'm among many bump-whore regiment leaders on the forums, so oh well)
- I've (attempted to and have) dealt with multiple flame arguments/wars
- I support multiple mods; I've supported the hell out of NaS before its community took a big diarrhea-splattering dump on me (long story, don't judge if you don't know), and I support AZW, TJR, and SaS (NW), and I plan on making both mods more popular in the future than they already are, if I can help it
- I'm supportive of other regiments, and commonly go to inactive threads, looking to see if those regiments are active or not. Sometimes it's necroing, which does break the rules, however, it's something that makes sense for me to do, as I try to keep the Regiment List for NW as up to date as possible
- I will be managing regiment lists for The Jacobite's Rising and Shot and Shell (NW) in the future, so don't be surprised if my post count rises further
- And of course, I'm already pretty active in the community, in the off-topic and elsewhere

Yes it's all good being a supporter of all the mods, and being the white knight of FSE forums solving disputes, helping inactive regiments along, but my point still stands that from my experience with talking to people credibility is lost when you have become a spammer, have you ever considered maybe you should leave it to the admins to resolve flame wars etc. I'm not telling you not to spam, but i'm saying that actions have consequences and some people don't like people with such high post counts. But that shouldn't bother you if you're content with how much you post.

Helping inactive regiments? You obviously paid little attention to what I had said. I go out of my way to find regiments that are inactive, to take them off the regiment list, to give newly rising regiments a chance to use those names. How many regiment list managers took the time to do that?
Lastly, if I'm active on the forums, why does it bother you? I don't see how being active in the forum community in many ways makes me a spammer. It's just name-calling. Childish. Name-calling.

Well of course the first round will be a test run, where situations will be tested, methods modified, and even seeing if the thing will work at all. I don't know about about the reps thdmselves, but it'll be a mix, a weeding out of sorts. I agree that it'll get better with time, but that will, of course, take time. :D

Well unfortunatly the community WILL blame you for this, considering the nature of the whole thing. Failure to adhere to what you have set out in the first place is breaking your policy. You've created your own problem by creating the policy in the first place, you can not release the results and not stick to your policy, or you can release the results and stick to it.
If you hadn't noticed the community reps are part of your policy, failing to release them is breaking it.

Well no, that isn't strictly true. We announced that we'd run the polls - and we have. We've announced that we'd release the results at some point, and we will. We said nothing about releasing them the day the polls ended.
Please, don't try and kick up a fuss over this. It is not our fault that a blizzard has cut out Deofuta's power. It was not our decision to remove Vince from community involvement. The community has demanded we make policy changes, and we've done our best to accomodate these changes - I take objection if the community now wishes to berate us for following policy changes that the community demanded.

Well the malcontents will post what they think anyway no matter when you put the results up. Today, tomorrow, it doesn't matter when you do it. Bare in mind that a lot of the people that do use volatile behavior as you said mainly post stuff for the sake of causing drama, they find it entertaining hence they do it. You will find a lot of people are like that in modern society which is a shame seeing as I only tend to be friends with people who have morals like in previous times.
But yeah just post the results, it will not change anything posting them tomorrow.

My activity on the forums in terms of posts is low because I only post when I deem necessary (although I view most threads); in this instance to finally point out to you what a fool you are because this hasn't begun recently, you have been a vile hate mongerer from day one. You may argue that if I posted more then I might get watched, well maybe if you posted less, or just less incitements of anger then you wouldn't be watched. Either way I don't see why you are attacking Mikkel specifically, you didn't run for community representative, what do you have to offer that those voted in can't? I want to give thanks to the people who voted for me as Community Representative. Your votes show that some segments of the commnuity want someone to represent them and air their questions and opinions on how the community and game should be handled. As your Community Representative I will dedicate my time and effort to ensure that your voice gets heard and that there is someone out there who listens to the parts of the commnity that are sometimes overlooked.
I want to also congratulate those representatives who got voted in and I hope to see what viewpoints they bring to the table. Part of being a commnuity is the ability to negioate and commnuicate with those around you. Finally to those who did not make the election I say that you put in a good show and that next time you may become what you desire.

Tavington was a victim of this, and with never forgave hypern for allowing it to happen to him... because he trusted him. After that, he never trusted many people again.
So when you say an E-criminal, an ostracised member of the community and lobbied for swing votes... what are swing votes anyway? He got Regiments to vote for him.

Diplomat. Keep communication between the Regiments and sort out problems between them.You know that, therefore why not say it.
Sawyer was a problem, but he was of the opinion at the time, that keeping the group together as a powerful entity was a better option than having many various split off's even if Sawyer wasn't nearly ideal(lol understatement). Simple manipulation. Opinion correct or not, was inevitably doomed to fail, with Sawyer ending it all with his other methods, and trying to secure complete totalitarian control, destroying all those who dissented, also driving many others out. This where most hacking took place.
Many lessons were learned. Mainly about power.
How power works.
The means in which power is based.
The means in which power can be excersised.
The means in which the levers of power operate.
How to... skip the queue so to speak.
With this, in mind you can do a lot of harm, or a lot of good.
I fully believe that Hypern ultimately is trying to be a cause for good.
If for no other reason to keep this game trotting along for a couple years more.

What I find interesting is that after Tav was removed, you can see a sizable drop in total voters, which is quickly recouped but... there is no 91st push... no other candidate for the 91st see's an increase in votes. Also, when comparing the statistics, you see that there is no concentrated effort to vote for anyone. Votes just gradually increase.
Curious... its almost as if they gave up...
All those people just... meh... and Evanovic didn't quite make it by only a few votes.
The logic, I see little here.
