3eVolt Training Map

Thought I would share this old map. It's compact and has a focus on melee training.

Reasoning
Karth/Offizer
They are not the greatest regiment of all time in terms of skill, but I'd say their leaders might be. Even with low melee skill the 63e can dominate other regiments as the leaders pretty excellent tactically.
[close]
Tico/Breaches
These guys held the spot of best regiment for at least 3 years straight. However they always have had some of the best meleers in the game, so we don't know what the regiment might have been like with less skilled melee. Because of that they are slightly below Karth/Offizer.
[close]
AsianP
Old school leader known universally, every regiment he leads will compete for top 3 regiments, and has held top 1 most notably during the 79th days. Has always had some of the best melee players in the game, so like Tico+Breaches, I put Asian below Karth.
[close]
Grimsight
Lead only contending regiment against the 12th during their reign. Pioneered some new tactics that you see used in every 1v1 these days.
[close]

CheeseyPants
Cheesey lead his regiment to be the top regiment for a short period of time and won Season 3 NWL. However things slowed down after some key melee players went inactive/left.
[close]
Lawbringer
Lawbringer created a very serious contending regiment, springing up almost out of no where. They did well under his leadership, I would note that they had some very very good melee players to rely on however (Many of their regulars came from a native clan)
[close]
Alexander
Won the TNWL with some great leading. Would have to see them reign longer to be higher on this list though.
[close]
Stox
Stox wasn't very interested in competitive linebattle, it was more Locust & DrBYeByes doing. Regardless they did quite well in 1v1s. Note that they did have a huge amount of players to choose from for their 1v1s.
[close]
Millander
One of the great leaders of the early days of NW, and lead the guys who created the 9y. However there wasn't as much of a focus on 1v1s so we can't know how he would do these days.
[close]
Ody
Through all the hate he gets, hes a decent leader. Crutched on melee during some periods though.

Are the mods so lazy? The power to remove others posts has been given to the OPs, people who in no conceivable way will use it responsibly. Does anyone else see the problem with this?

This regiment fights for The Seven Nation Army.

The 3eVolt is one the longest standing communities in Napoleonic Wars, with one of the richest history and community. Initially lead by AsianP in the summer of 2012, the regiment has been stuck together throughout NW's existence. Through the life of the regiment, we have always been dedicated to being the best of the best. We take pride in being an excellent force in melee on the battlefield, by training regularly to bring out the skill in every member. We hold ourselves to a melee standard which is required of every 3eVolt member. Applicants to the 3eVolt must posses a competent knowledge of the game and the mechanics behind its melee, or at the very least the drive and willingness to learn quickly. For those skilled in both shooting and melee, the 3eVolt fields an elite light infantry unity alongside it's line. The Light Infantry will act as shock troopers playing very aggressively, making use of their accuracy and their bayonets.
    -
The 3eVolts goal since its creation in 2012 has always been to compete at the highest level of competitive 1v1 linebattles. These 1v1's must be played seriously and in disciplined fashion so that everyone may concentrate. In larger, 200 man linebattles, the regiment is free to be much more relaxed. Our events take place at 8 EST at least 3 days out of the week. Attendance is optional for the most part, as long as you can attend at least 1 event per week. Outside of linebattles we keep an active community in teamspeak, where we play games other than Mount and Blade. We invite all members to be a part of the community during off-LB times.

    • Respect:
Respect your fellow rankers, your officers, your opponents, NA1 randoms, your mom, your dog, etc. Picking fights and starting drama is something we don't want, and it will get you demoted, if not kicked all together.

    • Behavior:
Stay disciplined. We love yelling and disorder, but not during our events. During linebattles you are required to stay in line and follow orders. Don't headbang. Don't teamkill. Keep all unneeded remarks out of chat. For the love of our spaghetti overlord, don't run around the line to avoid being shot.

    • Orders:
The officers are in place because they have had months, maybe years of activity and practice. You must follow them on every suicide charge they lead you in to because god damn it, it will be fun. But really, listen to your officers. Switch to spectator when told, don't go musician if the officer hasn't asked you, don't run around outside the line. Basic stuff.

    • Activity:
We strive to have a large presence on the battlefield. This means we need large attendance, and you, in joining the regiment, are required to be one of those people attending. Real life takes priority over all, but inactivity for longer than 2 weeks may result in a kick from the regiment, unless you talk to an officer about your inactivity. If your schedule is so packed you can not attend at least 1 event per week, this regiment is not for you.

    • Maturity:
Immaturity is stereotyped as being 13 year old kid with a squeaky voice. But immaturity comes in all ages. You are required to show that you are responsible and can handle being in a regiment.
    • Representation:
Giving the 3eVolt a bad name is the worst offense you can make and you will be kicked on the spot. We want to maintain a well respected regiment. Trolling in game, out of game, and damaging our 3eVolt name will not be tolerated.
    • Have Fun:
At the end of the day, We're just a group of friends from every corner of the earth, marching in a line, and shooting at each other. Don't take the game too seriously. Above all else, have fun. If your fun consists of trolling however, you might want to try a different regiment.

    Thank God for the 3eVolt

This event has been closed for the time being. I will restart it when there is more interest.

    _________________________________________________________________________________________
    INFORMATION

This event is a revival of old classical linebattle hosted by Millander and Hugonaut. The purpose of the event is to provide a simple yet competitive linebattle experience. Only line infantry will be used and we will play on medium maps. We may also play on custom maps from time to time. We hope to make the experience of this event fast paced and action packed rather than the drawn out ultra tactical gameplay of other events.

This event is strictly invite only. We wish to have only a few large, respected and professional regiments rather than a multitude of small and largely unknown ones.

The event format is as follows: 2 maps, each best of 3. The event will last around an hour. It will be hosted on the 7 Nation Army servers everyone Tuesday at 8 EST. Event info will be given out out during the pre-LB meeting. TS info below.

    - Colonel Grimsight
    _________________________________________________________________________________________
    RULES

The rules are basic as only line infantry will be fielded during the event. We expect leaders to enforce the rules within their regiment so minimum admining must be done. If rule breaking happens consistently however, it may result in expulsion from the event.

    The rules are:
    • No fire out of line
    • No fire on the charge
    • Maximum of half man space
    • All large gaps must be addressed
    • No crouching during ranged combat
    • At least 3 rankers are required to form up, shoot, and be considered a line.

For the question on your opinion on the best regiment, I've simply created a word cloud. Take what you see for a grain of salt considering I did not ask people to specify leaders or if it the NA/EU/AUS form of the regiment.

    Servers / [NA] 7NA_DEATHRUN
    « on: August 02, 2014, 12:27:56 am »

    __________________________________________________________________________________________
    INFORMATION

The 7NA is proud to announce its unique mini-game server, 7NA_DEATHRUN. The server is based off the popular game mode Deathrun from Garrysmod. The premise is 90% of the servers population will spawn in as runners, who will run through a series of traps and obstacles while being shot at be the other 10% of players, the killers. The killers spring these traps and in general their goal is to see your deceased corpse! When a runner dies, he will switch teams and become a killer.
Maps are divided into sections, or levels. Each level is barred by a gate which the killers will open when the majority of runners after beat the level.

For the time being the server will be run in short events, lasting an hour or two. The server will not be left up without admin supervision.

    RULES

    The rules are:
    • Everyone must spawn as Runners. Starting Killers are predetermined.
    • Runners may NOT shoot back - unless in a stage of the map where it is specifically allowed.
    • Runners MUST change to the killers team if they die.
    • If a minute has passed, late joiners must play killers.
    • Killers may not run into the runners course.
    • Killers may not open gates until all are ready.

Repeated rule offenders will be treated HARSHLY by admins as there are no scripts on the server to automate things (yet)

Update: The event is looking for a pub-line to join in. This would be a group of pubs with a leader that understands the rules. The line should be able to bring 10-15 people every event to balance the teams when needed. Any experienced leaders should add me on steam.

The 7 Nation Army is proud to announce a new type of event. This will be a mix of Battle, Siege, Conquest, and Naval events rolled together into a strategic total war-esque event. In this event the maps will be meaningful as each battle makes a difference on the campaign board. Teamwork is crucial in this event. Battles will be the basic engagement, sieges will be epic assaults on enemy land or defense of your own, conquest will be the destruction and protection of large cities and important countryside, and Naval skirmishes will be the battles for supremacy on the high seas.

The battle will focus around strategic gameplay in and outside linebattles. Each nation and their regiments together will decide their moves on the campaign board before every event, and those maps will be played in-game. We will be selectively accepting regiments that we know will be in communication and working with the other regiments around them to achieve victory. No more lone warrior regiments!

We strive to hold this up to the standards of an enjoyable event while keeping unique and varied gameplay. Trolls and rule breakers will be punished swiftly, and regiments admitted are expected to enforce rules within their own ranks. Admins will be posted in spectator and oversee the linebattle, ensuring no rulebreaking occurs. Any breaches of the rules will result in the offending individual a slay, or a ban from that weeks event, and serious rule breaking will result in regimental expulsion from the event entirely.

The event will be hosted on the 7NA_Official server every Thursday and Friday at 8 EST. Regiments signing up for the event much sign up for both days. The password will be given out in the ts26.gameservers.com:9137 teamspeak 10 minutes prior to the event. We are currently looking for more regiments to join. We are looking for established regiments, with a serious attitude. A minimum of 15 attendance is required. Sign up further down the thread.

    How It Works
Creating a total war style map for NW and managing it manually is no simple feat. The admins must balance simplicity with strategy in order to make this doable. Regiments seriously interested in joining must read the event guide.

    Event Guide
    Nations
2 nations will be involved on the campaign map. France, and the United Kingdom. Regiments will sign up for a nation and will play for that nation every week, and they will take place in every engagement that is taking place on the campaign map. If a nation is low on numbers on a certain day, they will have to deal with it. The administration will do our best to stop this from happening however, by carefully picking which regiments are admitted to the event.

Each nation will have 4 types of strategic points.
First, the basic land tile.  This is land that a nation controls. If the enemy nation wishes to capture the land, a battle map will be played.
Second, the fort tile. Once a nation has come to a fort or any tile adjacent to it, they must first siege the fort to advance.
Third, a city tile. To capture a city tile a large scale conquest map will be played, based in a sprawling city.
Fourth, a village tile. To capture a village tile, a conquest map will be played. Village conquests are based in the countryside.

    Movement, Attacking, and Counter-attacking
The event will take place on Thursday and Friday, Thursday is the UKs turn to move, and Friday is Frances turn to move.
Every event 2 maps will be played, meaning 2 moves can be made per day.

Every week the leaders must come together and decide where to move and attack. A nation may pick a general to decide moves for them every week, but that is optional and is left up the nation and will not be chosen by the admins.

Nations may attack any border they wish. That attacking move made on the campaign map will be the map played in-game. If the attacking team wins the first map, then they will move on to their second movement on the campaign for the second map in-game. However if the attackers lost the first map, then the defenders may choose to counter attack or not. If a counter attack is made, the defenders will assault the land that the attackers came from.

Naval battles will be played if a nation would like to do an invasion by sea. The defending nation may choose to engage in a naval battle, and if they win they may counter attack to where the attackers naval army was launched.

    Capturing Territory
Once a battle is won it will be controlled by the winning nation. If a city, village, or fort was captured then all adjacent land tiles are also captured. Adjacent city/village/fort tiles will not be captured.

    Supply Cut-off
If a nations territory is cut off completely from any village or city, it will face a supply cut off. The number of cut-off territories will be tallied up, and after that many turns if a connection to city or village has not been reestablished, all the territory will be lost to the enemy nation. The max it can take for supply cut-off to happen is 16 turns.

For example, if 8 territories are cut off for the French from any cities or villages, it will take 8 turns for it to convert to British territory. As 2 turns are played per event day, and there are 2 event days in a week, it will take 2 weeks for the French territory to be automatically captured by the British.

    Detachments
Every event may make use of multiple detachments. In Battle and Conquest, if there are less than 100 players then only 1 may detachment may play. If there are more than 100 players then 2 detachments may play. If the server is full at 200 players, all 3 detachments may play.

In Siege, an artillery slot will always be open. If there are more than 150 players, skirmishers/light will also be used.
In Naval battles, a skirmisher slot will always be open.

Guard is a detachment that each nation may have 1 unit of regardless of how many people are playing.
Detachments include: Cavalry, Skirmishers/Light, and Artillery.

    Winning
A nation wins once all the enemies cities, villages, and forts are captured. This is a very long term goal, which could take multiple months. The campaign is not expected to end quickly, and the event should stand for a long time.

Community / Lets stop pushing things under the rug
    « on: May 18, 2014, 07:28:31 am »
This is in response to the admins for locking my recent thread.

Call me a whiner but these forums only get more and more heavy handed with its admining as time passes.
A precedent in the Napoleonic Wars community has been set to where any thread that brings some form of negative light to the game and its community is immediately stomped by the admins. Over the past year more and more threads are being locked, people are being warned, and admins are intervening when its not needed. It's gotten to the point where any controversial threads are locked. Even if the thread is fine in its nature - if the thread goes slightly off topic in the comments then the admins take the opportunity to lock the thread.

The community does not need protection, we are small and tight-nit. We are really in over our head if we think trolling on these forums has any actual impact. Instead of locking and deleting threads within the day they are posted it would perhaps be more productive to let it stand and let the community deal with it in their own manner. I don't think we need admins babysitting us.

Not to mention, it seems we might even see the start of threads not only being locked, but deleted! Joy. Bauers recent thread brought up some valid points, although buried under hatred. But he paid for the game. He invested his own time into it. He deserves the right to voice his opinion and not have that opinion silenced. What are we protecting ourselves from in deleting that thread?
