Ickworth House is a great event, it's usually a medium sized events where us young-middle aged members attend without the officers who're still hibernating in April. If you're coming April-Junish then May also has great events, if Hole Park is on next year again in May that's gonna be the biggest UK reenactment that year.100% on Ickworth, it's a great event, Saturday skirmish is usually way better than the Sunday in my opinion.
why don't you guys just empty banlist?
As long as it is looks somewhat square, you can open it, putt stuff in it and carry it around, you should be fine.
But you really want to make one yourself? They are pretty damn cheap, around 10-20 pounds/euros.
Nah don't want to make one, me and my other unit researcher are getting slightly pissed off because everyone in the unit now has different bags, we want to be somewhat uniform, last year we changed shako suppliers because looking at the unit there would be at least 4 different manufacturers of shako on parade!
The bags we currently have couldn't hold a whole day's rations let alone the 3 days that were usually taken from stores!
There's always going to be differences among members. It happens for a number of reasons, some people specifically only buy the cheapest things they can find, others want their items made a very specific way. My unit for example has gibernes from at least 3 different suppliers, heck some of our members even have English style cartridge pouches while we should have French styled ones. Most of my unit get their gear and supplies from Coopers Choice, a few from McFarthingbowl's, I personally do it completely different and order everything from Shakos GBL. And trust me, there is certainly some small differences in the way these items all look. While I agree there should be a certain level of uniformity, there's always going to be individual differences. But as long as they remain small (different bags seems acceptable to me, just as long as the basics of the uniform and gear are uniform). And whether you like it or not, it's gonna happen.
But that's just my opinion on the matter.

This is a small rant of mine, but I barely saw anyone dropping dead at Waterloo this year. Seriously, in my unit for example, only myself and two others dropped. Some even refused to do so when told to.I'm not a reenactor but from the footage i saw of waterloo this year, I can understand why no one would want to lay down and miss a second of it
Sadly, this is so true. And I am guilty of it as well, as a a result of that I popped nearly 50 shots during each battle. Normally we only get 15-20.
Thought I would share this one from the 2/44th East Essex (the Regiment I re-enact with). This one was taken at the recent bicentenary of Waterloo, which I missed sadly. If you go to the Facebook page you can see quite a few more: https://www.facebook.com/groups/44theastessex/?fref=tsSpoiler[close]
We made up a new marching song, it's very full of innuendo it goes as so
"A So, A so, A soldier i shall be
Two Pis, Two Pis, Two Pistols on my knee
For Cu, For Cu, For Curiosity
I'll fight for the old cun, fight for the old cun, fight for the old country"
when sang it sounds a lot ruder than when written
Now to put verses to it!
Sounds like a song sung by Jimmy Valmer from South Park lol
Wow, w-what a great audience.
