Hello there everyone!
First of all, we are very sorry for the bugs and performance issues that you had to face the last 24 hours. We have spent all day to fix the most urgent bugs and performance issues. Hopefully, this patch should fix most of the existent bugs, balance the game a little bit and solve the performance issues on both the client and the server.
Client performance:
Performance for Client has been increased by removing a lot of unnecessary data that was loaded into the game at start up. Memory usage should now be much lower (Just 1000mb compared to the 1400 we had before.) We have also increased performance by adjusting shaders and slightly fixed the rigging of several of the french uniforms.
Server performance:
The Server should now also perform much better than before. We have reworked large parts of our code. For example, for just the reloading system we reduced the code from 500 to 100 lines and got rid of more than 240 events!
Balance/Gameplay:
We have also changed the Balance slightly. To nerf the Sniper class we made it impossible to look through the scope while bolting and reloading the gun. This will make sure that snipers will have to re target their aim after every shot.
Additionally we changed the Ammo counter presentation to be easier to understand for new players. It will now show both the bullets left in your inventory and the bullets left in your magazine.
We also fixed all battle spawns on all maps and did several minor tweaks to some of them.
We also made the French LightMachinegunners slightly stronger. They will now be able to properly aim and shoot while walking.
Anyway, here is a list of changed/added features:
- Added some active and alive agent and players checks to a few client side events
- You can no longer attach bayonets to the Chauchat
- Fixed the bandages and morphine killing people when healing/giving morphine (basically now they deal no damage)
- Removed shell in air loop sound
- Nerfed snipers by removing the scope presentation once fired
- Fixed the animations for shooting with MGs
- Made the ammo counter presentation slightly different and more intuitive for players to understand
- Fixed Battle Spawns on all maps
- Fixed sound bugs on Belgian Forest (Storm map)
- Removed all useless local sounds from maps.
- Possibly fixed crashes and lags client issues
- General performance enhancement

Excellent, can't wait for servers to be updated with it too! :P

-
Install it over.

Out of curiosity are you still actively working on BCoF Olaf?
-
Now the waiting game begins once more
-
Sweet.

Is there an estimated time on when the servers will be updated?

Let's see how many will update :-X

Nice work dudes!

I love the new ammunition UI, I never knew the Lebel could hold 8 rounds lol.
-
I quite liked having no idea how many rounds you had, it gave the mod that Red orchestra vibe (having to remember how many rounds you have left).
-
im lovin it
-
.*. Nope .*.

Great!

So, the serverfiles are intentionally held back, fine.
http://ironeurope.ubu.so also has all the other files inside, with 10GBit connection, happy loading.
Links back since I removed the serverfiles, or made them inaccessible.
-
Server files absence, so I've rented a Windows vServer, installed Steam, installed Warband, started NW(which obviously crashed, but was necessary for IronEurope to find NW), installed Iron Europe 1.0 and 1.1, ripped Music, Textures, Sounds etc., and zipped it into a file: <link>
Just unpack, edit the ironeurope.txt and start via the .bat(Windows) or via .sh(Linux with wine)
Best wishes,
Nettelbeck
And yes, <link> also has all the other files inside, with 10GBit connection, happy loading.
I'm pretty sure that there's a reason they didn't release it early as a just a big file, need the installer so it can check to ensure that they own NW, so this is kinda not allowed I think.

So. You think the official Taleworlds page is breaking the law by publishing their NW serverfiles, is that the case? http://download2.taleworlds.com/mb_warband_napoleonic_wars_dedicated_1158_nw_1104.zip
Clients also have the needed files for server inside, so.
I think, the NW check is just out of convenience for the user, and that there has been no serverfiles yet should be because of... laziness I guess :P
Also, chill. Its just the serverfiles, I'm not offering a pirated version of the game itself or something like that o.O.

Ah, sorry, I think I misinterpreted the post, nevermind silly me :-X

It's not laziness, but just developers' intention not to release server files to prevent too many servers from being set up. That'd probably lead to public players getting lost on a hundred of tiny private servers, as many mod's released already proved. Server files would have been released a week or so after the mod's release, which should be.... in 4 days or so. Although i appreciate the fact that you put all those files free for download on your own server, i must remove that download link from the forums until official server files will be released by the Development Team.
-
Uhm kay, so you classify the general server guys that want servers as complete morons, because the files are obviously delivered within every client.
I'm thankful for your appreciation, though.
Greets.
-
I actually think server hosters have some more in-depth technical knowledge then average users, yet distributing server files would certainly lead to an increase of servers. Instead, not releasing them at all would make it sligthly more complicated to set up a server.
-
I downloaded the patch but still no fix for lag issues for me, I live in Brazil and all the servers with more than 50 people lag every 30 seconds. I can play with other 200 people in NW so I don't believe the problem is me.
-
cool thanks for the patch!
