Modifications / Removing Grenade particles and Reducing Crosshair Expansion
« on: February 26, 2017, 06:58:59 pm »
Hello all, Vitallion here, coder of the new 'Imperialis' mod thats coming out.

Got a couple of questions about grenades and the crosshair in NW.

First of all, I'd like to know how to remove the lingering smoke effect and crater model that occur when you throw a grenade. I've duplicated the code used for the Holy Hand Grenade to apply new stats and a new model for the grenade we're going to use for one of the factions in-game, but no matter how hard I look I cant seem to find out where, in either module_items or module_scripts, the grenade/script calls upon the particle effect and crater model upon impact. Any tips and help would be greatly appreciated, as i'm wanting to remove the crater model entirely and limit the duration and size of the smoke effect that occurs upon grenade impact.

Secondly, does anyone know how to minimize the crosshair expansion when you fire? It's their to simulate recoil, but some weaponry being used in our mod doesn't have recoil in 40k lore, and we'd like to make them as realistic as possible. This also comes in handy as we currently dont have an automatic weapon script (which i'm hesitant to ask about), so i'm hoping a small reticule recoil effect will allow players with semi-automatic weapons to fire faster.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In Development / [NW][M] 'Imperialis' - A 40k Conquest Mod

'Imperialis' is a Warhammer: 40'000 based modification for Napoleonic Wars, focusing on the Conquest type game mode.

Mixing 40k lore with Mount and Blade, whilst also adopting game-play aspects of the Dawn of War games, Imperialis drops you into a fast paced, squad orientated point-capturing game designed to replicate the capturing of strategic points and Critical Locations in DoW1 and DoW2.
Players will be able to choose from four main factions to fight over control of critical locations littered at key points throughout accurate and battle-scarred scenes that aim to replicate 40k lore and tabletop. Imperialis includes high detailed weapons and armours from the 40k universe, including Lasguns, Chainswords, Grenades, Bolt Pistols, Combat Shotguns, Flak Armour, Plasma Guns and a metric ton more.

Players will be able to pick from four unique factions, the 'Astra Militarum' (Imperial Guard), the 'Traitor Guard', the 'Eldar' and the 'Tau Empire'. Each faction will have a variety of classes and unit types per class to pick from which can be seen, for currently planned factions, in full below (**Please note, we're working on a health regen bonus to add to Medics**):

Astra Militarum Confirmed Classes
8th Cadian

The Guard Regiments from the planet Cadia are, arguably, the best Guardsmen in the Imperium. Born under the gaze of a selective breeding program, the Guardsmen that make up the Galaxy renowned Cadian Regiments are nothing short of exceptional. Adept at both ranged and melee combat, the Cadians are what all Imperial Guard strive to replicate, both on the field and in the ranks of the administration.
Sporting a standard array of Imperial Guard weaponry and donning basic Flak Armour, the Cadians are the base to which all other Regiments are molded. With no particular specialization, yet no weakness, the Cadians are adept at both attack and defence, with good skill in both ranged combat and hand-to-hand fighting.

616th Krieg

The Death Korps of Krieg are arguably the best siege-related troops in the galaxy. Raised on a nuclear blaster home planet, the Death Korp are subject to providing 50 million Guardsman to the Imperial War Machine per year, with joining the Korp seen as an act of repentance to the gas-mask wearing siege experts. With a battle doctrine that focuses around wearing the enemy down in vicious trench warfare, the Death Korps of Krieg are adept at hand to hand fighting, using their unique Lucius pattern Lasgun to riddle the enemy with volley after volley from well constructed trenches, until the order is given to charge and kill the alien, mutant and heretic with bayonet, shovel and their bare hands.
Making use of standard Imperial Weaponry, along with unique Krieg Lasguns, and wearing heavy Trench Coats and Gas Masks over standard flak armour, the Death Korp are proficient at hand to hand combat in the most vicious of the galaxy's siege lines.

16th Steel Legion

The Armageddon Steel Legion is a collective name for the Guardsman Regiments from the planet of Armageddon, aptly named since it's fought through three of the most brutal wars in Imperial History. Because of this the Steel Legions have, understandably, become extremely adept at dealing with orcs (and Chaos dea- *BLAM*). Combining Cadian organisation, Trench Coats similar to the Death Korps of Krieg and Chimera based blitzkrieg tactics, the Armageddon Steel Legion is a brutal, fast and deadly collection of Guardsman Regiments.
Making use of their patented Voss patern Lasgun and donning a dress code similar to the Death Korps, the Steel Legions are the Kings of the mechanized infantry game, and make use of painfully accurate las volleys to decimate greenskin hordes.

Guardsman:-
- ARMOUR: Flak with Trench Coat
- WEAPON: Lasgun, Plasma Gun, Combat Shotgun, Longlas
- ACCESSORIES: Frag Grenade

Ensign:-
- ARMOUR: Flak with Trench Coat

Traitor Guard Confirmed Classes
Cultists

Chaos Cultists are, by their very nature, a blight on Imperial History and the Galaxy as a whole. Ranging from heretical teenagers to raving, fanatical champions and phsykers, the collective phrase "cultist" can only be defined by one thing. A devotion to the Chaos Gods.
Whilst not being a professional military force, Cultists, in the right hands and in the right place, can be devastating in the streets and alleys as they can be on the battlefield. Armed with crude autoguns, knives and whatever else they can get their hands on, and with minimal armour protection save for slabs of flak, leather, cloth and their hideous bodily markings to the dark gods, Chaos Cultists are meat for the grinder and dangerous enemies combined.

Cultist:-
- ARMOUR: Cloth/Leather with patches of Flak
- WEAPON: Lasgun, Laspistol, Autogun, Knife, Short Sword

Champion:-
- ARMOUR: Leather with Flak
- WEAPON: Lasgun, Laspistol, Autogun, Knife, Short Sword
- LOCAL BONUS: Melee Bonus

Preacher:-
- ARMOUR: Cloth/Leather with patches of Flak
- WEAPON: Lasgun, Laspistol, Autogun, Knife, Short Sword
- LOCAL BONUS: Speed Bonus

Vraksian Renegade Militia

The heretical offspring of the Vrak Rebellion, the Vraksian Renegade Militia are a lethal mixture of corrupt PDF, Guardsman and Cultists. Traitors one and all and now fully committed to Chaos Undivided, the skill of individual Vraksians ranges wildly but, under the merciless eye of the Preachers, their faith in the Dark Gods never falters.
Armed with stolen Imperial Equipment, local weaponry and special weapons, whilst donning hardened leather and flak, the Vraksian Militia form a terrifying semi-professional force that is perfect for hit and run strikes on the enemy, with often lethal results.

Militiaman:-
- ARMOUR: Leather with Flak
- WEAPON: Lasgun, Laspistol, Autogun, Combat Shotgun, Knife
- ACCESSORIES: Frag Grenade

Bannerman:-
- ARMOUR: Leather with Flak
- WEAPON: Lasgun, Laspistol, Autogun, Knife
- ACCESSORIES: Traitor Militia Banner

- WEAPON: Lasgun, Laspistol, Boltpistol, Autogun, Combat Shotgun, Chainsword

Volscani Cataphracts

The Volscani Cataphracts were an Imperial Guard Regiment, considered to be some of the most hardened fighters of the Cadian Sector. Their battle honours were many, their campaign record was long and their loyalty in the eyes of the Imperium was absolute.
And then, something happened.
When Abaddon the Despoiler launched his 13th Black Crusade, the Cataphracts were recalled to Cadia and a welcoming ceremony was organised. Their reply was to slaughter the Guardsmen present along with the entirety of the Cadian Interior Guard's General Staff.
Heretics and Madmen, the Volscani Cataphracts are a well trained Regiment of Traitor Guardsmen, ready to fight and die not for the Emperor of Mankind, but for their new master. The Warmaster of Chaos.
Abaddon the Despoiler.

You lost Hoffmann, Myself, Metal, Taco, Konski, Spudgun, Wartel, Viking, Romania, Salty, Muffin, Pootis, Brewl, Marcos and Squidbear. And hell, maybe even a whole lot more, going as far as Shadow and Yarrick when they decide what to do.

Arguably all your most active members aside a few.

Anyhow, I came to say aurevoir. I would invite you into the TS for a chat sometime, but since you joined under 2 seperate IPs blasting us with scream music (after saying we should all leave each other alone, to which we agreed), and then tried to claim it wasn't you by switching to another PC/IP, I think you may be banned under the pretex of ''Sempai fucked up''.

Also, since I believe you said you ''hoped my family would die'', we all ganged together and made a parting gift, since none of us go as low as death threats.

Good luck to all the lads who persevere with you through this.

Yeah, what's happening about that? They had invites (multiple if i'm not mistaken) and we've got chat logs confirming this from Metal. Rules say this nullifies their victory and they lose 3 points, can we get any confirmation on this?

Lawd Jebus likes his presents to you know..

Anyhow, on a different note, any conquest events we're taking part in coming up soon? Has always been my faviourate game mode ever since I was second in the 2e back in the ol' MM days...

*flashback music*

We were sat on a hill in the corner of the map, the approach swarming with British.. accuracy perks played their part since that was when the 2e class was in game, and our entire group of 20 was firing non stop into the Brits as we were spread out, unable to form a line...

Anyhow, long story short I got shot in the face by a cannon, i'm fairly sure Dutch did a yolo charge and killed an entire line and most of us ended up getting teamkilled when we walked in front of a friendly volley, but I digress.

EDIT* Also, update the thread Johan. A good, updated thread is an attractive thread, and an attractive thread gets recruits. *Slaps*
