Title: Which one is more historically accurate?
Post by: vtz on July 20, 2016, 02:10:58 pm
Hey there, I have recently been thinking about a difference between uniforms in this modification and uniforms in pictures and reenactements. Uniform in N&S are lying very tighly on a soldier, while those in pictures and reenactements are much more loose. I put a screenshot from the mod as well as a drwaing found on the Internet so that you can see what I mean:

N&S screenshot, where the clothing is lying very tighly on character's body

Picture, where the clothing is much looser

So I wanted to ask you which one is more historically accurate? Did the Civil War soldiers wear tight or loose clothes?
Thank you in advance  :)

It's more about a matter of how the models work with the textures. As your 2nd picture shows, they most likely wore clothing that was a little bit more loose looking than the models in the mod. It just so happened that the models for the mod looked more tight and sleek than what regular clothing would usually look like, I think.

If you look at most of the civil war photos of soldiers, they had tight gear on. You can see it on the belt. That is how I was taught to wear my belt.

Looser is more historically accurate but that is too much work. Just wait for WoR and buy it.......spending money always helps you get more of what you want  :)
