Cattle die, and kinsmen die,
And so one dies one's self.

The fame of a dead man's deeds.

Forum Games / Warriors' Matters [Reservations Open!] [Off Topic]

Hey! Yes, you! You seems to be a tough man, a man who deserves more than he has. For how long have you lived in the shadow of others? Of your king, your liege, even of your own brother? But now you have a chance to get what should be yours long ago. A fame, and a fortune! It's your fate, your destiny, so don't be afraid to fight for it!

Description
Warriors' matters is in no way similar to any other game in this forum. It's neither Mafia nor Roll to Dodge, it's even not another BoP game. You don't have to remember any kind of statistics, you don't have to think about any international events or any matters from the past of the game. The only thing that matters is whether you can or cannot describe your actions in interesting way.

In Warrior's matters you're going to take part in series of duels against other players. Each fight will last ten turns and in each turn both players can write one post describing their actions. There are no any statistics, special skills or dice rolls, so the course of fight will depend only on players' actions and answers. After ten turns both players will be asked if they want to continue their duel. If they both agree, then duel will last five more turns. If not, the fight will be finished and GameMaster will create the pool to ask all forum users which player performed more interesting actions and wrote better descriptions of them. The winner will be chosen in this pool and will past to the next round where he will face winners of other duels.

To sum up, this game is like writing a chapter of a fantasy book. All you have to do is to describe your fight in most interesting way and then let users decide if they like your writing. What you have to remember is that you can only describe actions of your own character, don't try to enforce your opponent to do what you want by writing about his actions - GameMaster will have to intervene in such situation. You also have to remember, that you don't really want to make your character win the fight - it doesn't matter which character seems to win at the end of battle, only users' votes matter. So don't make your character too powerful, maybe even consider letting your enemy hurt you or destroy your gear if it will allow you to make story more interesting.

Of course at least two players are needed to start this game, but any number can take part as we can perform many duels simultaneously.

Creating character
This game is not set in any particular times or universe. Feel free to create characters from any historical era or fantasy universe you like. In case of historical settings please don't go beyond half of 19th century and in case of fantasy universe make sure that historical counterpart of your world doesn't exceed that period. If you choose fantasy settings please make sure that it's well known world or describe all important matters during creation of character. Another important fact is that your character have to be able to take part in typical medieval-like duel - so making ranged-only character isn't best idea and you will probably be asked to change it. Beside that, you can make any character you want either on horse or on foot, a bearded viking, mysterious wizard or an elegant officer of Napoleon's guard.

Applications
To join the game just fill this form and post it in this topic. Remember, that there are no any statistics in this game. All informations from this form are there only to let your enemy know who he is fighting against, what he can expect and how he can interact with your character. It's also a sample of your writing skills so please take some time to make your application complex and interesting.

Open Workshop is first part of Raddeo's Workshop. It is a place where I publish small modifications made by me for Napoleonic Wars DLC. They are mainly additional units for already existing factions, but I can also make custom animations, weapons, etc. Most of them have been made on request of players who long for changes in NW. Here you can see them and download if you like them. If you would like me to make any new unit, just send me Private Message or write in this topic and we will talk about that. What is important there is a queue of requests, so those which were send to me earlier will be done faster. So don't be too hasty, give me some time and for sure you'll get your skin :)

Below you can see skins which have already been done. Some of them have download links so feel free to use them. Rest of them have been done for particular regiments or players and only they have download links.

How to install several skins for one faction at the same time?
Short tutorial how to do it
In this tutorial I'll explain how to install more than one skin for each faction. What is important you will need OpenBRF. I'll show everything on example of installing both 1er Suisse and  3e Grenadiers de la Garde for France. I will do it, by moving all Grenadiers' data to Suisse's files. So I'll call Suisse's files my "base files" and Grenadiers' ones my "additional files".
1. Open both downloaded skins' archives and go to Resource folder. Choose one of brf files which can be found inside and open it for both skins. I'll start with mm_french_uniforms.brf

2. In both files find all models connected with unit which you want to move. Sometimes it can take some time to find all models you need. In my case these are models with names like french_GRaP_*. Delete all of them from "base files" (marked blue on screenshot) and then copy them from "additional files" to "base files" (marked red on screenshot).

3. We have just copied all needed models to our "base files". But you can see, that we still don't have textures on them (marked red on screenshot), so in the next step we will have to copy them too.

4. Move to Material tab (marked blue on screenshot) and copy all materials from "additional file" to "base file" (marked red on screenshot). Don't delete anything in this step!

5. Now do exactly the same in Texture tab.

6. Save everything what you have done in "base file" and repeat steps 1-5 for rest of brf files. In my case I would do it for mm_french_hats.brf. In Suisse's Resource folder there is also mm_colours.brf, but as there is no such file in Grenadiers' folder, there is no need do edit this file.

7. After modifying all brf files you can now copy all textures with *.dds extension from Texture folder in your "additional files" to the same folder in "base files".

8. Last thing which you have to change is making troops.txt which will change names for two units. Open troops.txt in your "base files" and find there name of unit which you want to replace. In my case this unit is 1er_Regiment_de_Grenadiers_de_la_Garde_Imperiale as 3e Grenadiers de la Garde replace 1er Grenadiers. How you can see I'm searching for name from the game with spaces changed into underline characters. Now just edit this name in troops.txt to the one of new unit. There should be several places where the same name can be found, so you should change all of them.

9. Now just install your "base files" in the same way in which you install normal skins. And voilà, you have just installed two skins for one faction! If you want more skins, just repeat all these steps and add one more skin to your "base files".
