Regiments / The Shrekond Battalion, 3rd Regiment of Shrek - "Heroes of Shrekingrad" [EU/NA]

SERIOUS STUFF: This is a light infantry regiment recruiting EU/NA members.
In the land of Far Far Away, Their Oniony Majesties Shrek and Fiona, waged a war of love and onions on the last few remaining territories of
Lord Farquaad's ruthless and tyrannical empire. After Farquaad's armies had pushed into the magical city of Shrekingrad,
the last obstacle between Farquaad and the onion fields of Shrek's beloved swamp, the Shrekond Battalion of the 3rd Regiment of Shrek prepared
to commence a last stand against the fairy-tale hating men of Farquaad's legions. The fairies, wolves, pigs, pinochios and other magical creatures which
made up the battalion gathered their onionzookas, put on their helmets, tied their shoes, raised the ceremonial earwax and made sure their layers
were ready for their finest hour.
The creatures of the battalion waited for hours and hours, but no-one came. They sat up straight, clutching their weapons waiting even longer for
the approaching menace which was sure to envelope them. At 14:00, when the creatures were fresh from their waiting and rather large lunch, they appeared.
Farquaad's men, clad in iron, marched onto the city square with spears and their new boomsticks at the ready; A firefight of Shrektastic proportions
ensued, onions and shot were being volleyed each way killing many men and creatures. This slaughter of both sides made it seem to the creatures as if they would win
but as their morale was rising, the legions pulled forth another one of their new contraptions, a larger boomstick they called a 'cannon'. Although many
of Shrek's other creatures had turned and fled, The Shrekond Battalion held strong against the menace just long enough for Shrek to ride in upon his
noble steed, and with dragon beside him He destroyed the legions and ensured the Shrekond's place in Far Far Away history, dubbing them the
"Heroes of Shrekingrad".
After seeing Farquaad's legions flee before his very eyes, Shrek decided to press the attack with the Shrekond leading the assault on Farquaad's fortress.
They battled for many days but finally the siege ended with Shrek roflstomping Farquaad into the bricks of his very own castle. This act remove the layers
from Farquaad's legionnaires and made them surrender, even Farquaad's most loyal supporters gave up. It was recorded that at the end of the battle
one of the officers of the Shrekond was speaking with Shrek and Shrek told him that "our time here is ogre" and ever since the Shrekond has spoken these
sacred words at the end of any scuffle since. For many years after the siege, peasants uprose in the name of Farquaad and the Shrekond was always there when they
did. There has been peace for 20 years now, but a new enemy has arose, Emperor Charming of France has started to conquer on friendly nations and the time has
come to make another stand, with the Shrekond once again leading the way.
