British Battalion Formed in January 1937 from English speaking British, Irish and Dominion Volunteers.
It first saw action in the Battle of Jarama where it saw extensive action against Francos Moors where it remained until June of that year.
It continued to fight against Fascist forces until October 1938 when it was dissolved and sent home.
The battalion was commanded by Bill Alexander, an experienced communist activist and was made up by large numbers of man and women from the cities of London,
Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow and over 400 miners from South Wales
