If you mean a system where people can apply and join clans, then no. We will leave that to be handled by the players themself. We do not like limiting players freedom. If someone wants to form the 1013th Super Space Ranger Puppy Brigade, and play with the tag 1013th_SPRPB_ , they can do that.

How come the limit on ranks?

Remember that we are only talking about a single company in this Blog. But more about that in the next Blog.
Ah okay. Will you be looking to open up the rank numbers in the future or will that be in the next blog?

Like Olafson said, we're not regulating the clan structure, instead we're trying to set up a proper chain of command and coordination ingame. In NW regiments were represented by one specific type of company per each ( 45-e represented by fusilier company, 85-e by grenadier company for instance). Here we will try to represent regiments with multiple companies, which should make sence given that the game is supposed to feature more players.Unfortunately, CW is different from NW in a way that all the companies within CW batallions were supposed to be of the same type (even designated skirmish companies didn't have any special insignia and equipment, though the latter statement may be speculative), but tactically we can still have fun with that division. The understanding is that the average NW regiment in line battle would be between 15 and 30 players, and we will try and put several of such regiments in a position where they would benefit from cooperating with each other more closely. The concept is quite fresh, we will pretty much deliver test regiments in that shape for the alpha test and see how it goes and will the community like it and such.

Hi fellas...Have been watching your development of Battle Cry of Freedom...looking pretty good.  definitely interested.  As for the 20th Maine FYI, I just recently read an account from them after their stand on Little Round Top at Gettysburg and it was indicated to me that they were equipped with the 1858 Enfield rifle musket.  I can probably provide you a reference if needed.

Keep up the good work...anxiously waiting.

Hey thanks for the information. Yes we already knew that, which is why the Company C in the game and on the screenshot is carrying the Enfield. We gave them the burnished version, i.e. the version with the original black/blue protective coating removed, as the 20th Maine also carried the 1855 and 1861 Springfield. According to our information, it is very likely that most regiments that carried both Springfields and Enfields struck their Enflieds burnished, so that they would look more similar to the Springfield.

For the 20th Maine we actually have following information about the weaponry they carried in 1863. The different companies in the game will also actually carry the rifle they were issued with in reality.

Co. Regiment             No. Armament
A 20th Maine Infantry   38    Enfield Rifled Muskets. Calibre .58 and .577
B 20th Maine Infantry   4     Springfield Rifled Muskets, model 1855, 1861, N.A. and contract. Calibre .58
36      Enfield Rifled Muskets. Calibre .58 and .577
C 20th Maine Infantry   36     Enfield Rifled Muskets. Calibre .58 and .577
D 20th Maine Infantry   22     Springfield Rifled Muskets, model 1855, 1861, N.A. and contract. Calibre .58
E 20th Maine Infantry N/A         N/A
F 20th Maine Infantry    4            Springfield Rifled Muskets, model 1855, 1861, N.A. and contract. Calibre .58
35      Enfield Rifled Muskets. Calibre .58 and .577
G 20th Maine Infantry    40         Springfield Rifled Muskets, model 1855, 1861, N.A. and contract. Calibre .58
H 20th Maine Infantry    20            Enfield Rifled Muskets. Calibre .58 and .577
I 20th Maine Infantry     37          Enfield Rifled Muskets. Calibre .58 and .577
K 20th Maine Infantry   40      Enfield Rifled Muskets. Calibre .58 and .577

Any plans to add the Virginia Military Institute as a playable unit in the future?

Asking for a friend obviously.

No, because of their ridiculous choice of headgear for their modern dress uniform.
