Regiment List [Think Tank]
« on: November 16, 2012, 06:59:38 am »
Alright this is list of regiment names that have not been reserved or taking. The point of this think tank is to give people a few regiments to choose from, save people some time. All regiments I list have their own unique history and all will have a rather nice battle record. I will seperate them by which side they fought for, and sort them by State so theres no confusion. If you want me to add a few awesome regiment names that haven't been taken yet, please PM me or place them as a reply. If you intend to take one of the names listed as your own name, please let me know so I may remove them.

A few of these regiments are actually Irish regiments already, I believe theres 3 of them. As for the Iron Brigade, I don't recall any names that havent been taken already.

Texas now has units. Every single regiment on this list has it's own history and they were all very active in the war. Enjoy guys.

16th and 13th Vermont of Stannard's brigade

Fought Mosby and were the flanking regiments that beat back Pickett's charge.

31st Wisconsin

The 31st Wisconsin Infantry was organized by companies. Companies A through F were organized at Prairie du Chien and mustered into service on October 9, 1862. Companies G through K were organized at Camp Utley in Racine and mustered into service on December 24, 1862. The regiment was ordered to Columbus, Kentucky, on March 1, 1863 and it moved through Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, the Carolinas, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., during its service. It participated in the Atlanta campaign, Sherman's March to the Sea, the Battle of Bentonville and the surrender of the Confederate army. Companies A through F were mustered out on June 20, 1865, and the other companies on July 8, 1865. The regiment lost 112 men during service. Twenty-three enlisted men were killed. Three officers and 86 enlisted men died from disease.
