Cavalry Champions League / [CCL - S2] Rules

Behaviour Rules

Tournament Rules

Roster Rules

Match Rules

Rules

- Players should respect both the letter and the spirit of the rules. Common sense should always be applied, regardless of the situation.
- Players must be respectful on the Cavalry Champions League subboard and servers. Every participant is advised to refrain from using language that is obscene, foul, vulgar, insulting, abusive, slanderous, defamatory or otherwise offensive. If someone consistently shows a poor attitude towards other participants within the tournament, whether in game or on the sub board, will find themselves being punished by the tournament administration. There is a three strikes policy: the first incident will result in a warning, the second incident will bar the offender from playing in their next match, and the third incident will see the offender removed from the tournament.
- While the Cavalry Champions League administration intends to condemn the aforementioned behaviours, we would also like to remind our participants that they are capable of muting players in-game, on the forums and on steam but are not necessarily punishable by the tournament administration.
- During a match, the referee can forbid the use of all-chat, at his own discretion if they deem it necessary to do so. From that point forward, only referees, regiment leaders and admins can use that chat.
- In order to ensure the referee can pursue his job in the best conditions possible, all communication done via all-chat must be in English, so that the referee can control the interactions between players and make sure they fit the aforementioned rules.
- Any player that incites, participates in or attempts to disrupt matches, practice sessions or organisation of other regiments will be barred from playing in their next match as punishment for a first offence and removed
from the tournament in the event of a second offence. Regiments engaged in such actions could face similar punishments.

Cheating

- It is strictly prohibited to gain an advantage by using game modifications, cheats, or hacks such as texture replacers/recolours, or autoblock. Every player that is found to have modified texture files or caught cheating in other ways will be banned from the tournament.
- Exceptions from the aforementioned rule are as follows; any modifications which alter a cosmetic aspect of the game (such as uniforms) but doesn't help to gain an advantage over your opponents. If doubt remains on whether a certain modification is allowed or not, the administration must be reached for approval.
- If a player is found to have cheated in any of these ways during a match then that player's regiments will forfeit the match.

Tournament Format

- The second season of the Cavalry Champions League will play out using two leagues, with the regiments being split based on their respective skill level. This is in an effort to attract newer, or less skilled regiments to partake in the tournament, and giving said regiments the opportunity to fight other regiments with similar performance.
- Each regiment will fight each other once, in their respective leagues with each league having it's own champion, technically meaning there will be two winners.
- The number of regiments is limited to eight in both league 1 and league 2. The spots are granted following an invitational system.
- Once regiments have played their first official match as a certain class, they have to stick with it for the remainder of the tournament. This class can only be Heavy Cavalry or Hussars.

Points distribution

- Points are awarded as follows; match win - 3 points, match draw - 1 Point, match loss - 0 points.

Scheduling

- All matches must be scheduled and played within one week of the tournament administration announcing it.
- If a regiment faces difficulties to organize their match, they must contact a member of the administration before the deadline given for their match scheduling.
- During the event, regiments are expected to play one match per week. If a regiment fails to organize/play their match within the time frame given to them, then they must provide evidence of a good-faith attempt to schedule their match. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the match. If both regiments have shown no attempts to schedule their match, both will be applied the forfeiture of said match.
- If a regiment is found guilty of not putting enough effort into scheduling their matches properly, they might be facing warnings, followed by punishments.

Maps & Nations

- Every CCL official match has to be played on the official CCL map.
- Regiments are free to pick the nation which they prefer. One match cannot be played with the same two factions. In the case of two regiments picking the same faction, the regiment appearing on the left of the fixtures will have the choice of the faction.

Regiment Rosters

- Every regiment must provide the tournament administration with a roster consisting of the player community nicknames and their respective in-game GUIDs at least 24 hours before their first match. Players that are not listed with a regiment (with a GUID/nickname) are not eligible to play in the tournament.
- Regiments may make changes to their roster (players addition or removal) during the whole duration of the competition.
- Players who have participated in a match with a CCL regiment, will then be locked into playing for that regiment only, for the duration of the tournament.

Multi Clanning

- It is strictly prohibited for a player to play or have played for more than one regiment participating in the CCL regardless of what league they are in. If a player is found to be on the roster of more than one regiment participating in the CCL then that player will be ejected from the tournament. Regiments that were complicit and knowingly allowed a player from another CCL regiment to play for them will be punished accordingly.

Match Server

- All matches must be played on dedicated CCL servers. It is not allowed to play an official tournament match on another server unless a tournament administrator gives permission to do so, or the official CCL servers are not available. Note: If the official CCL servers are not available for whatever reason, out of courtesy we, the tournament organizers, would expect to be informed about it. Regiments that fail to do so will not have their match recognized by the tournament.
- Regiments who booked a server at least one hour before their match are given priority over everyone else, so make sure to request the server in your match schedule application.

Referees

- Referees are mandatory for official matches. Requests for a referee can be made to the administration by either regimental leaders while booking their match.
- During the match, the referee's decision is final.
- It is allowed to be both an official referee of the tournament and a player with the exception that such people cannot be a referee of their own match(es) unless allowed by the administration or if a neutral referee is unavailable.
- The administrators of the CCL reserve itself the right to impose the choice of the referee on a specific match if they deem it necessary.
- The referee is responsible for posting the match result, and providing a screenshot to go with it.

Gathering Players

- Both regiments have a grace period of 10 minutes after the agreed match start time to gather their players in the server. If a regiment fails to turn up with the minimum requirement for their respective league [10 - League 1 | 8 - League 2] 10 minutes after the agreed match start, the other regiment will be awarded a default win. If a regiment agrees to wait longer than 10 minutes for their opponent to finish gathering players, then they may wait up to 10 additional minutes, totaling 20 minutes with the extension. If their opponent has still not gathered enough players, then an admin must be notified and a default win will be awarded.
- Regiments are not obligated to wait more than 3 minutes between rounds and are allowed to enforce a restart and live after these periods of waiting.

Player Names, Tags & ID

- Players must play with the name they are signed up under in the regiment roster.
- Players must wear their regiment tag during official matches.
- Players must have the same unique Player ID that is on their roster. A player caught using multiple IDs will be ejected from the tournament, and any group of players that are caught sharing an ID will all be ejected from the tournament.

Match Format

- Each match consists of 10 rounds played on 1 map (BO10). There is no swap-side or swap-nation. Every 10 rounds have to be played.
- Wall-hugging, tree-hugging or map-edge hugging is not permitted. The decent space as to not be considered to be breaking this rule is left at the discretion of the referee.
- Picking-up horses or swords from your opponents, as well as dismounting at any time during the match, is allowed.
- The referee is the one ensuring a screenshot is taken at the end of the match.

Spectators

- Spectators from both regiments are always allowed.
- External spectators [players that do not belong to either regiment] have to ask for permission from both captains to spectate the match and the referee must be aware of it.
- Tournament administrators & Referees do not need permission to spectate a game.

Substitutions & Balancing

- Substitutions are only allowed between each round, without restrictions.
- Teams should be balanced perfectly, meaning there will be no +1 allowed if one regiment has more than the other. The only exception to this rule is if the other regiment fails to bring the required amount for their respective league, meaning if a League 1 regiment only brings 9, the opposing regiment can still play with the minimum of 10. A regiment cannot play more than 2 less of the minimum requirement, meaning a League 1 regiment can not play with 7, and a League 2 regiment can not play with 5.

Media

- All matches may be streamed/recorded freely by any of the players spectating.

The admins listed here have a specific role which matches their abilities yet they are all involved in decisions making and produce work in numerous other aspects of the competition. The consultants don't have any decisional power but can provide the rest of the administrative team with advice and help. Referees are the backbone of the tournaments and make sure official matches are run in respect with the rules.

Introduction and Thank you's!

Welcome to the official thread of the Cavalry Champions League - Season 2. Myself and Stephan are super excited to be reviving this League for a second iteration. Anyone who participated in the first season will no doubt remember the feeling of disappointment when the League had to be ended so abruptly, but even having said this, was easily one of the most enjoyable and professionally hosted leagues to date. The first iteration ran smoothly and was presented very meticulously to us all, and we hope to be able to do Tardet and Exofrance proud by doing the same with this new season, no doubt it will be difficult to match the hosting skills the previous organizers possess, but we will give it our best shot. Myself and Stephan both have experience hosting events and tournaments, however neither of us have took on a project of such magnitude, so i will ask now that you bare with us and forgive any minor hiccups that may happen along the 6-8 weeks this tournament will run for.

I want to say a personal thank you to Tardet and Exofrance on behalf of myself and Stephan for allowing us access to the resources of the first season (Most notably the rules) and of course, the amazing sub board which would have been almost impossible for us to acquire for our own league. You no doubt have made this whole process a lot quicker and so much easier for us to set up, so we can't thank you enough for that.

|

This Cavalry Champions League is in direct line with the now well-established Cavalry Napoleonic Wars League. While the CNWL has proven to be the most successful regimental contest for years among the cavalry community, we did not carry the wish to host something which did not necessarily belong to us. The CNWL remains a project which should only be hosted by Erik or by someone he deems worthy of taking over. Moreover, the Cavalry Champions League should bring a few changes compared to the previous editions of the CNWL. In practice, it doesn't modify drastically the whole concept but it brings in new features which could possibly alter the nature of a competition such as the CWNL. We hope to be able reaching the same level of quality observed during previous editions of cavalry leagues, but for many reasons, we prefer hosting a brand new tournament which should give us the required freedom to carry on with the aforementioned changes. That way, if someone wishes to take over the organisation of the CNWL later on, he or she won't be impacted by the result of this tournament.

Cavalry Champions League / [CCL - S1] League Stage - Week 2
« on: January 20, 2019, 11:03:59 pm »

Spoiler
The Cavalry Champions League started last week with our height regiments taking their first footings into the competition.

The 11e Régiment de Hussard, lead by Lindblom and considered as a strong contender for the title had a tough first match-up as they took on the French heavies from the 1er Régiment de Cuirassiers in the opening match of the CCL. After a flying start which saw them taking a 3-0 lead without many answers from their opponents, the 1erRC managed to grab one round, only to see the 11e striking two back to back, securing the draw and offering themselves a four round lead quite easily. From that point forward, many could have expected the 1erRC to collapse however the French and Poles managed to gather themselves, took advantage from their slow-paced play-style and with lots of patience, managed to crawl back and reduce the 11e's lead to one little round only, 5-4.

After nearly two hours of intense plays, it took a lot of composure from both teams to not crumble under pressure and in what would be a highly contested final round, the 11e managed to secure a slim victory, mostly thanks to an amazing Shadey who prevented a 1v2 clutch to go in the favour of the 1erRC; in the very last moment of the encounter. Netherveless, the 1erRC showed a strong resilience for their first match of the CCL and despite not being able to get the draw, they fully deserve that defensive bonus and send a clear message to their future opponent. On the 11e's side, they managed to avoid getting upset in their first match and despite the 1erRC's come back, they can still be happy as they have gained four important points against an opponent which is likely to cause troubles to many of other top regiments of the CCL.

The three remaining matches of the first week were all played on Sunday and as expected, two of them ended up being extremely one-sided matches. The 4e was simply too much to handle for the 2Lr and despite a strong showing in numbers from the 16e/KGL alliance, they didn't manage to find a gap in the Nr6's armour. With that being said, it is only the first matches and both the 16e and the 2Lr will have plenty of occasions to prove their worth later in the tournament.

The last match of this first week was a completely different story however, as the Nr4 and the 5e offered to our viewers a nail-biting series which took place on all ten rounds of the match. It all started with the Nr4 making one hell of a strong statement in taking the first two rounds quite convincingly, making the 5e doubt themselves very early on. The Frenchmen under Exofrance's leadership didn't give up and manage to grab one back but in a similar fashion to the 11e vs 1erRC's match, the Nr4 was simply too strong and despite the 5e gaining the numerical advantage in several rounds, they were unable to convert these advantages into actual rounds. As the Nr4 reached five rounds, the 5e was only sitting on two and the Frenchmen saw themselves with their backs against the wall, with no more room for mistakes. Fortunately for them, it was at this moment that they seemed to wake-up as a whole and as they were continually gaining the numerical advantage, they did not let these rounds slip away from them and managed to secure the draw.

From an outside perspective, this match was an intense and skilful battle which sums very well why this competition has the potential to be extremely close, from start to finish. With that being said, the Nr4 will certainly share many regrets looking back at that match. If a draw against the 5e can be considered a strong performance on their side, they had things under control and yet didn't manage to not give-up a strong lead in the late part of that encounter. From a 5-2 situation where they could have denied the 5e any single point in their first match, they were unable to prevent that comeback and will certainly not be fully satisfied with these two points taken in the first week.
Netherless, the counter-performance of this week is to be attributed to the 5e Hussards. In a match where they were considered as the favourites, yes from a small margin, but favourites still, they showed a lot of flaws in their gameplay and have a lot of stuff to work on if they still intend to be a strong contender in this CCL.

Cavalry Champions League / [CCL - S1] League Stage - Week 1
« on: January 14, 2019, 01:18:05 am »

Spoiler
The Cavalry Champions League has officially started this week and what a better way to kick things off than having the 1er Régiment de Cuirassiers taking on the 11e Régiment de Hussards tonight for the very first match of the competition.

This first week will be the occasion for regiments to test their strengths and get their footings in the tournament and it is needless to say that they will all aim at making the best of the impression for their very first encounters.

As mentioned earlier, one of the big clashes for this week will be the Frenchmen from the 1erRC lead by Squall facing a very in-form 11e squad. Even though the 11e currently has the edge after some very strong showing in practices, you can bet that the pressure coming with the official matches is going to affect both teams and on that side, the 1erRC definitely is the more experienced group out of the two. Facing heavy cavalry is always a tough challenge, especially for the first match and the 11e won't be able to rely solely on their numerous skilled players to win that battle. Whoever comes on top of that confrontation will certainly gain a strong momentum coming in the second week.

Another interesting confrontation will be between the Nr4 and the 5e later this week. Both regiments have been looking rather sharp these last few months and put a lot of efforts in practices and most of their encounters happened to be very close. If the 5e Hussards arguably has the edge, it's a very slim one and the Nr4 definitely has the potential not only to get the draw but also defeat the Frenchmen fair and straight. It will mostly come down on small details such as which regiments have the most 'in-form' players and make the least mistake.

The two other matches should be a bit more one-sided and if the 2Lr and 16e both have a lot to prove and shouldn't be underestimated in any way, the Nr6 and 4e are still the heavy favourites in these matches.

§ 1 Maturity & Respect

(1) Players should respect both the letter and the spirit of the rules. Common sense should always be applied, regardless of the situation.
(2) Players must be respectful on the Cavalry Champions League subboard, servers and live streams. Every participant is advised to refrain from using language that is obscene, foul, vulgar, insulting, abusive, libellous, slanderous, defamatory or otherwise offensive or objectionable. If someone shows a poor attitude and displays rudeness or immaturity, he or she will be punished by the tournament administration. There is a three strikes policy: the first incident will result in a warning, the second incident will bar the offender from playing in their next match, and the third incident will see the offender removed from the tournament.
(3) While the Cavalry Champions League administration intends to condemn the aforementioned behaviours, we would also like to remind our participants that they are capable of muting - in-game, on the forums and on steam - the people who could behave in a way which may offend them, but are not necessarily punishable by the tournament administration.
(4) During a match, the referee can forbid the use of all-chat, if he/she deems it necessary. From that point forward, only referees, regiment leaders and admins can use that chat.
(5) In order to ensure the referee can pursue his job in the best conditions possible, all communication done via all-chat must be in English, so that the referee can control the interactions between players and make sure they fit the aforementioned rules.
(6) Any player that incites, participates in or attempts to exploit disruption of matches, practice sessions or organisation of other regiments will be barred from playing in their next match as punishment for a first offence and removed from the tournament in the event of a second offence. Regiments engaged in such actions (i.e. with 2 or more members offending together) could face similar punishments.

§ 2 Cheating

(1) It is strictly prohibited to gain an advantage by using game modifications, cheats, or hacks such as texture replacers/recolours, or autoblock. Every player that is found to have modified texture files or caught cheating in other ways will be banned from the tournament.
(2) Exceptions from § 2 are any modifications which alter a cosmetic aspect of the game (such as uniforms) but doesn't help to gain an advantage other your opponents. If doubt remains on wherever a certain modification is allowed or not, the administration must be reached for approval.
(3) If a player is found to have cheated in any of these ways during a match then that player's regiments will forfeit the match.

§ 3 Tournament Format

(1) The first part of the event will take place between Monday 14th January 2019 and Sunday 3rd March 2019. The break week will take place between Monday 4th March 2019 and Sunday 10th March 2019. The second part of the event will take place between Monday 11th March and Sunday 28th April.
(2) The Cavalry Champions League is played with a home-away format. Each regiment fight each other once for the first part of the event (home side), then a one week break will be observed by all regiments, followed by the second part of the event (away side) where regiments. The first-place winner will be titled Champions.
(3) The number of regiments is limited to eight. The spots are granted following an invitational system.
(4) Once regiments have played their first official match as a certain class, they have to stick with it for the remainder of the tournament. This class can only be Heavy Cavalry or Hussars.

§ 4 Points distribution

(1) One match won gives you 4 points. One draw gives you 2 points. One loss gives you 0 point.
(2) For every match, a special defensive bonus can be achieved for the regiment losing by a difference of two rounds (4-6). This defensive bonus gives you 1 point.

§ 5 Scheduling

(1) All matches must be scheduled in the time frame given by the tournament administration. Such a time frame can be found at the top of every weekly fixtures thread.
(2) All matches must take place in the time frame given by the tournament administration.  Such a time frame can be found at the top of every weekly fixtures thread.
(3) If a regiment faces difficulties to organize their match, they must contact a member of the administration before the deadline given for their match scheduling.
(4) During the event, regiments are expected to play one match per week. If a regiment fails to organize/play their match within the time frame given to them, then they must provide evidence of a good-faith attempt to schedule their match. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the match. If both regiments have shown no attempts to schedule their match, both will be applied the forfeiture of said match.

It is not allowed to play an official tournament match on another server unless a tournament administrator agreed beforehand and is provided with the server logs within 1 hour after the match has ended. Regiments that fail to do so will not have their match recognized by the tournament.
(2) Competitive settings must be enforced at the beginning of every official match.
(3) Booking a server is not mandatory but regiments are encouraged to do so. Regiments who booked a server at least one hour before their match are given priority.

(3) Tournament administrators do not need permission to spectate a game. Referees (besides the official match referee and potential junior referee) are subject to the same rule as other regular players and must ask the permission to both captains before being allowed to spectate a game.

§ 15 Substitutions & Balancing

(1) Substitutions are only allowed between each round, without restrictions.
(2) There is a +1 rule for balancing starting at 11. If a regiment brings below 11 (i.e 10 vs 12 or more), the other regiment is not required to balance with +1 and can play with 12 (but no more). A regiment cannot play with less than 10.

Cavalry Champions League / [CCL - S1] Referee Applications
« on: January 06, 2019, 05:07:34 pm »

Referees always have a major impact in the functioning of any sort of competition but for the Cavalry Champions League, they might be even more needed than before. Due to the low amount of official matches played each week, we will make it mandatory to have a referee for each. In order to carry on with this, we will need a solid team of dedicated referees for this CCL.

We thank you in advance for considering to apply for the position. Remember that previous experience is a must but not a requirement. As long as you show motivation and seriousness, and have a basic understanding of the English language, we will be glad to count you among our staff.
