After numerous amounts of skirmishes the 92nd Highlander regiment managed to break through French lines, thus the 1er Régiment de Grenadiers was called up for battle. We met in battle over a vast plain map with few slopes and hills to use for cover.
Our first engagement the 92nd showed their worth in shooting, and their strategy to pivot on a fixed point to enhance their ranged superiority. Once the 1er finally made it into melee we got a chance to show our worth and reputation, although we blooded many a bayonet it was just not enough to match that of which the 92nd inflicted upon us, with them winning rounds with just 5 or so men left.
Over the next few rounds this continued, we just could not match the firepower of the 92nd leaving many a Grenadier alone in melee.
Towards the end of this very bloody battle, as reinforcements began to run low the veterans of the 1er managed to survive to the melee, where we showed why we earned the name of a 1er grenadier. We managed to get kill after kill, many Grenadiers killing atleast 2 before dying. We managed to bring back 3 rounds consecutively through melee.
However, the 92nd still were hitting many a Grenadier , volley after volley many fell. Our melee was just not enough and thus the 1er Régiment de Grenadiers had to Withdraw after a 6-4 loss.
I would like the thank the 92nd for a very nice game indeed. Was nail biting close in a few rounds, even though we lost we all had alot of fun. You guys really showed your worth in every respect, Congrats on the win as it was well deserved.
Maybe one day you can teach us how to shoot
