That's cos those who lacked it were long gone before the campaign.

And there were plenty of veterans in the militia. The 8th Militia had 39% veterans, with all officers but four having served before.

Gotta go with the polish winged hussars. They're just too badass not to.

Thundersnow in his battle illustrations gets honorable mention.

Just found a treasure cave hidden from google...

Some real smexy uniforms. I have never seen anything so smexy! You might think I say this because I'm swedish but tbh, this is the most beautiful thing I've seen. All of these are from late 19th century.

The only similar thing is the pickelhaube tbh and the German one has an eagle while the Swedish one has three crowns.

They styled their uniforms after the Germans because German was simply fashion in those days. Even the American army had uniforms styled after the Prussians/Germans. Basically all uniforms after 1870 were German-styled.

It's because you're matching the wrong ones.

Anyhow they have several similar traits, such as the litzen on the collar, the picklhaube and very similar coats and colors.

Of course they were but it would just be unfair to call them ripoffs. The only ones who got the pickelhaubes in Sweden were the grenadier regiments. The rest got the "keppi -styled" hat.

Maybe the grenadier regiments such as "Svea life grenadiers" were similar but the rest of the infantry, cavalry and artillery looked pretty original.
As said, it was only the grenadier regiments who got the pickelhaube. And even then the pickelhaube isn't identical to the Prussian one.

Nobody called them rip-offs. And we aren't just talking about the pickelhaube, though, by the way, saying the 'Swedish' Pickelhaube is not like the 'German' one is nonsense considering the pike-helmet IS German. Sweden had pretty unique uniforms in the Napoleonic but, like the other nations, switched to French style which was replaced by German style in the late 19th century. Even the Dutch.

Dutch infantrymen in 1874. Note the resemblance with the Swedish infantry. The colour is, of course, dark blue.

Meh, I guess the colour is similar. If fits sweden quite well though when you add the yellow/golden details.
