Isn't it just a myth that they ever carried those things in battle?

It's no myth, the Polish Winged Hussars used them because in the wind they would generate a loud whistling noise that will annoy the opposing horse and make 'em crazy.

Wouldn't that annoy the riders horse too?

Incase you didn't know, all animals can be trained, and can adapt, if that wasn't the case the horses would be annoyed people were riding them and would try to kick them off every 3 seconds.

So the Poles trained horses to hear this annoying whisle? Is there any proof what so ever for this?

Also if I was going against a Polish Winged Hussar, I'd pull him off the horse by just holding his wings, I am sure they didn't use that in combat.

Can't pull em off if you've died of shock from their sheer badassery.
In theory we could do huge player numbers far over 500 players per server...  As such we will surely keep our promise to deliver you the 500 players per server.

We will probably go (far) over it, but that's for later.

Besides, do we have any evidence that these wings created this supposed whistle and if so, is it proven that it is loud enough to annoy a horse and make it "go nuts?"

They were most likely only used in ceremony, i doubt they made a spooky whistling effect, and i doubt they were used in combat. The most relevant thing i've heard why they were used was that they prevent Tartar lassos from grabbing hold of the rider, as the wings made the targeted area bigger (I don't really know how to explain it, you probably get the picture though), and that if the lasso only grabbed hold of the wings, the wings would be detachable. Sounds dumb to me though.

I've read the exact opposite: The wings, being not that thick and sticking out, made a perfect target for the lasso and it was very easy to drag a rider off-balance by doing so.
In a melee the wings would only drag and slow down a rider, and making him a incredibly easy target. They were for the greatest part ceremonial.

Back to other uniforms: One of my period favorites are the French Equipages:

Simple, practical, yet pretty

Unlike most people, I've always liked the campaign uniform of the Sailors of the Guard much more then their parade uniform.

Didn't you have some chaps in white robes pretending to be knights?

They had a reason in the first place?

Also, the KKK is still alive and well. Scary thing.

The KKK had a reason, not that I agree with it, but they had their reason.

Well, yeah they did. But if I'm gonna go around killing innocent people I'm at least going to have better ranks than "Grand Wizard" and "Master Dragon".

What I mean't by no reason is that now they have no point, they are just idiots, at least a lot of them.
When the main Klan split up they went different ways and sometimes taking on new ideologies or mixing new ones with their old views.
If I remember correctly, where I am from, the Klan holds a rally each year. Sometimes for legitimate things and sometimes just to yell shit.
It's usually a different Klan group each year, some with more intelligent members than others.
Some are more political than others as well.

Well seeing as I went off topic, I will post a picture.
