Any new dev blogs planned? I'm liking the progress of game, seeing Bannerlord on the same engine inspires some confidence in things you guys can do.

I tink Bannerlord runs on an updated Mount & Blade engine doesn't it? While BCOF runs on UNITY engine.

I wish Battle Cry of Freedom had its own engine and not the Unity engine.

Unity's a great engine. What's the problem?

Indeed. Every engine has its problems, but I can say, Warband is way worse than Unity.
Unity is nice, easy to work with and fast.

Making a new engine, just for BattleCry would not only take long to make and be very expensive, but we would probably never get an Engine done, that is as good as Unity. Or even Warband.

Its not feasible to create an engine as a new company. Its far to risky given the amount of bugs and fixing that would have to be done. Bare in mind that Warband alone took several years to complete for a husband and wife team so using an existing engine is a far safer and time effective solution.

Unity should be good especially with Occlusion Culling.

What brought you to choose Unity ? Did you try the UDK ?

I do not like UDK. It takes long to create stuff, and its more or less limited to shooters. You can do other games on it, but that requires more work.
I do not like working in UDK. It has nice lightning and all, but it is not really what we wanted.

Crynengine is much nicer, easy to work with and you can get great results in no time. We would have liked to work with Cryengine, but we decided for Unity.

Why? Well... Unity is more or less the only Engine which had a good network documentation. There is almost no information about Cryengine and networking, some goes for UDK, and all UDK and Cryengine projects we saw were tailored for 64 or less players.

Besides that, Unity has a great asset store, making it easy to buy and integrate new features, models, sounds etc. It is a heaven for Indie Developers.

Hm, I wonder how the WoR team handles the networking. Their using Cryengine after all.
