So I was playing Football Manager 2018 today. I usually play in England, but I heard alot of good stuff about the Dutch Eredivise and I decide to try my hand at trying to win the champions league starting as a mid table team. I end up picking Heracles Almelo, because their name and logo is awesome, and I end up doing really well. I finish 3rd after being predicted to finish 10th the first season, and I win the league in the 2nd season (On goal difference with only 63 points in the league though lol) and qualify for the Champions League.
Things are going great, and my board and fans are expecting alot from me from now on. New season starts out great. More than great, actually.
But theres a problem: Because Holland's European Coefficients were on the rise, I qualified directly into the group stage of the Champions League. The money is nice, but it meant I needed to deal with some less than ideal situations.
I went into the whole thing telling the press that they should maybe temper expectations abit, but they weren't having it. They, for some reason, thought that my team, who's highest paid player still made less money then alot of players on Barcelona's B Team, could surely come away with a result.
Well, spoiler, I got absolutely thrashed. But apparently the Dutch Media just could not believe it. Apparently, I don't have enough faith in my team, because a fellow by the name of Jeroen van den Berg was a true fucking believer.
God bless this game.
