Wasn't this the same cartoon which pretty much abandoned all vaguely serious plot anchoring stuff and characterization for cheap comedy after it returned from being canceled?

I seem to recall an episode where said dog was brutally beaten by the baby to the point where the car running him over looked like a playful incident.

there are many episodes where people are beaten savagely and abused like hell. That is why  the series is so appealing to people.

Atleast he didn't die.

Anyways Brian and Stewie were my favorite characters because they were a dynamic duo, thats gone now.

You think they brought Brian back because people wanted him back? You honestly think they write and make every episode for the following week? Show has probably been written and made for months now.
Anyway, thinks it's great with Brian back, he really was a great character. I could however imagine some awesome stories with Vinny, so hop they somehow bring him in again.
