Hey you know what we need? a thread for just talking about old guns, sword and armour/uniforms in general?

Lets get the balling (ball rolling). What pop culture and modern people in general know or think they know about Medieval armour is utter bullshit. Long story short, breaks down all the misinformation with good old fashioned facts. Plus some bad ass footage of how awesome late Medieval plate armour is!

Also, anyone else find the general decoration of firearms before the 19th century just really nice looking?

Skins & OSP Resources / Downloadable Client Side Skins Directory (WIP)
« on: April 07, 2014, 05:57:14 pm »

It has been a while now since modding was made much easier with NW and we have a huge and still active client side modding community who work pretty hard to provide smaller but equally interesting client side mods that aim to keep the game fresh for not only a single player but even big regiments by following custom requests and other wishes of the community.

Sadly these efforts until now have rarely listed, and to prevent the loss of all this free community creativity I'll happily make it a side project so old and new community members to quickly and easily browse and find what they so desire to spice up their play time with the DLC.

This thread is a WIP, which means I am hardly finished. I'll be tracking down and checking the status of quite a few mods some I suspect are lost forever because of they were uploaded on dubious file sharing websties and not Mediafire/Warband Nexus. I'm even considering throwing up Mediafire alternate downloads for these mods to be doubly safe.

If anyone feels like making a table to make this thread look more attractive, I will welcome the help and happily use it.

Remember users of these mods, ALWAYS back up your original files before you start tweaking your NW folder with these things. I am not responsible if a mod wasn't updated or somehow breaks the file structure of NW. Be safe and create back ups before dippng your toes into client side modding.

Modders do not be shy in posting your latest creations in this thread as well, I will get around to adding them to the big list below.

Forum & Website / A Heads Up: Project Spring Clean 2014!
« on: March 16, 2014, 07:18:16 pm »
Lately some of you have been noticing a few posts going missing from your posting count and naturally you are bound to be asking questions about it and all sorts.

I'm making a thread right here now to save a lot of time and explain what is going on. As you know, the DLC is coming up to the 2nd year since release and a lot of things have happened on these forums including many events and regiments. But due to the cruel passage of time events end, regiments disband and merge and what we are left with is a lot of dead wood threads floating about doing nothing much really but giving the forums a rather untidy looking appearince. So much so, they outnumber the amount of active threads and regiments.

I also suspect this amount of stuff sitting around didn't help us when the forums went down at the release of a certain mod a few weeks back.

For the next few weeks I'll be sifting through and removing these ancient things from the forums but I wouldn't worry about things like those really nice looking tables, medals, banners or general pretty arm you mocked up that could be used by yourself as other people as I myself are saving them and will be archiving them and passing the files out to the other FSE staff to ensure they will live on and help the general community for the future.

But never the less, If you are fond of a certain type of table or formatting and would like to use for a future mod regiment or BCOF project I would go save the text and formatting and stick it in a Pastebin. For now a lot of the stuff been touched mostly has a back up thread at the old TaleWorlds forums but I'd rather be safe than sorry and get your text fluff all secured.

Community / The NW Community & Mods: The Elephant In The Room
« on: February 22, 2014, 07:48:18 pm »
So yeah, after the cancellation of the Official Blood And Iron event one of the few left in the whole community has got me thinking really.

Why is it the community can't stick with mods? I've been watching the development and release of several mods over the last year (North and South, BC and Blood And Iron) and I notice a huge flurry of excitement and eagerness to play these things with the constant attention and posts in their development threads.

Then around a month from release suddenly all attention and focus from these newly released or updated version of these mods virtually vanishes overnight. From a decent event schedule of several hundred players the population drops to the point where more people are playing the original Half Life death match. This kind of really sucks guys. Especially since seem to have loads of NW events doing the same motions now which quite frankly must be getting boring to some people and regiments in general.

So lets talk about this. Why does this happen? Is Warband too old? the DLC too expensive to keep up a good population of people to actually attend more than a handful of events? does this community actually really only like playing NW and anything straying from that path seem a novelty at best to them?  does the community simply not have enough money or time to have servers and events for mods AND base NW? Is the word about these mods not getting out enough? Is Bannerlord that much of a thing yet to virtually halt modding or interest in mods?

We really should try and discuss this. Why? Simply because all the time and energy the people behind these projects skinning, coding, scening and mapping shouldn't be wasted and ignored in less than a 2 month gap.
