Thread for sharing your favourite pieces of literature. Both fiction and non-fiction. Maybe keep it to one book per post so things don't get cluttered.
Ender's Game (http://www.amazon.ca/Enders-Game-Orson-Scott-Card/dp/0765342294) by Orson Scott Card
Also, apparently they're finally making it into a movie.

I loved Ender's Game. But I have to say Killer Angels is my favorite, I loved the different view points, making the battle come more to life.

Guns, Germs, and Steel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guns,_Germs,_and_Steel) by Jared Diamond
Excellent read on the history, development, and interactions between human societies (and he makes what can potentially be a very dry subject, a pleasure to read).
Also, inb4 'Fifty Shades of Grey'...

What? ZAG is amazing. I have the original orange cover hard-back book, with simply "ZAG" posted in the top-right. Fun stuff. Creepy to some.

Sorry, jumped the gun a bit there. That cover just creeped me out... :P
Upon googling it, it sounds rather amusing. ;D

I find both Hitch 22 and Mortality, written by Christopher Hitchens to be excellent reading.

The whole game of thrones series :P

Ya beat me to it! :P
Cannot recommend them enough, it's not your typical fantasy series either, if that's putting anyone off.
Much grittier, morally grey characters (there are no good guys or bad guys), and the magical elements are kept to a minimum (almost mythological in nature).

Hm... Let's see...
The Lord of The Rings (all three) and The Hobbit are all great books.
I also really liked A Bridge Too Far, and The Last Battle (Cornelius Ryan).
I'll probably think of some other good books later.

The whole game of thrones series was great. Eh... that's what comes to mind right now. I've read what seems like thousands of books in my spare time throughout my life. Conquistador by Buddy Levy and Last Stand of the Incas were also very good books.
I tried reading the communist manifesto and the prince a few years back but I couldn't get into them. Maybe I'll have to try again now that I'm older.

I forgot them :P
I also read Harry Potter so many times over :P
