About yourself: Ran the 13te as a regiment for several (+5) years in several line battles before I handed it off to a second. Regularly play with the Public Regiment in the NA Hardcore linebattles.
Why you would be a good admin: I'm more or less doing this because I think I can help organize the Public Regiment (At least more than it already is), but I don't have any real ties to any of the regiments here so I won't play favorites when someone breaks the rules.
Previous Experience (if any): ~5 years of operating a Regiment for M&M and NW, a good portion of that time being spent with 'Public' regiments in one way or another.

melee hits are based on the end of the weapon (judged by the weapon length) making contact with the hit boxes, as far as i've seen there's not much wrong with it. the two regular stabs have a much greater chance in playing than the rifle butt hit, which has a 1 in 10 chance of playing.

medics restore health, this resolves the problems that the mod (and nas) had/have of being hit and being on low health after bleeding for a bit. the system is now arguably better than nw in that you now have an option of restoring lost health, otherwise you were probably going to die anyway

Just because the chance is low doesn't mean it's a good thing - it isn't. You're adding randomness to a system that absolutely should not have randomness in it - no exceptions. Your handling of your character's melee attacks should NOT BE UP TO CHANCE. AT ALL. If I want a stab, I don't want to have a chance of absolutely whiffing because the RNG chose a rifle butt.

The medics help, yes. The medics are good. But, and I think most of us will agree, the chance of someone bothering to play medic on the public server is low. Incredibly low. But if you're balancing this for events then fine, but as soon as the medic dies (And they will because everything is so damn accurate), the system will just piss people off because they'll be bleed out with no way to stop it.

I have serious problems with melee in Napoleonic Wars anyway, but the added randomness to the animations on the downstab on the bayonet make this even worse.
Video to help explain my point

Combat animations should NEVER be randomized in any meaningful way.
Currently there are 3 animations for downstab. A lunge, the normal downstab, and a rifle butt. The ranges for all three of these animations are entirely different and the most infuriating fucking thing in the world. You don't know what attack will happen, and it's impossible to judge the range when it does because you can't guess where the hit will even land! That adds nothing but frustration and randomness to the already random-feeling combat that NW gives.

Combat animations need to properly be telegraphed in Mount & Blade, and this clearly isn't. L'aigle suffered from this problem too (And I believe it still does). I know this and most games that involve muskets are almost entirely shooting oriented, but that's no excuse to make melee worse from the base game.

Bleed adds nothing meaningful to the game and discourages melee.
I'm not sure if I need to say anything here. Medics are always in short supply and from my brief experience not very fun to play. I'm encouraged to avoid melee even more because getting hit even once (And you will get hit by something), you're going to die. And there's nothing you can do about it.

What good would be left in the world?

What if there wasn't NW

I would be a much happier warband player.

What if NW didn't have an overhead thrust.

Applying for (Ts/Servers): Administrator for NA_1
Regiments: 13te/13th Rifles.
About yourself: I joined the 13th Rifles after playing in a few Line Battles as a public player, and stayed there for a year, then took over after the previous leader was banned from several servers. Then I quit after a year or so after that because I lost interest in leading the regiment and all the "politics" involved with it, and joined 5arge's "Pubs". I've been playing video games since I was very young.
Why you would be a good admin: I have no tolerance for people regardless if I know them and like them. I'll try to treat everyone fairly regardless if I personally don't like them at all, or I am very good friends with them. I will also try to work with other admins and players to make the best impression on the community, even if it's an unpopular decision. Of course, i'll be active in the servers and Taleworlds forum, but I will not visit this forum frequently, if i'm honest.
Previous Experience (if any): 13te Rifles server, 13te Minecraft Survival, Zancraft Minecraft Survival, Prussian Army Public server

I'm not sure why you guys are arguing about rifle melee - it's balanced now. I can now use my fists just as effectively to fight the ballerinas with bayonets.

Prussia is not dying, it is not growing. It is, and always will be, the pinnacle for which other factions aim to achieve.

I was under the impression they a dared not to reach for such heights.

The steps taken for this are that most of the visual destruction will be client-side, so players will be able to customise their settings to achieve the best performance.

And.. How low is the average computer going to put these?

Other Games / Dwarf Fortress
« on: November 11, 2012, 08:36:56 pm »

So what is Dwarf Fortress?
Dwarf Fortress is a part rogue, part simcity in a high fantasy universe. In Fortress mode, you take command of seven drunken, antisocial, depressed, unethical, and at some points brain dead, Dwarves. The mission of these seven dwarves is to build a successful and wealthy mountainhome (Successful and wealthy is sort of subjective here). Along the way, the player fights threats of invasion from many different civilizations, animals, massive animals, the monsters of the caverns below, floods of the water and magma kind, vampires and other creatures of the night, and occasionally from themselves, all the while keeping their Dwarves fed, hydrated, clothed, and overall happy. In the Adventure mode, you are put into the shoes of a single sentient being (Dwarf, Elf, Human, the like) and travel across the world completing quests and fighting horrific beasts, and most of the time, being instantly murdered by them. Legends mode looks into the history of the world, looking at the various cities, landscapes, and people. (Some of the more badass than others)

Worlds are created from scratch. These can range from pocket size, to massive worlds. There are several ways to customize your world. mineral frequency, civilization number, and so on and so forth. The map, unless dictated otherwise, is generated randomly, some taking a step further and reproducing Europe. Each of these individual worlds you create has their own civilization names, people, and histories. There are no story lines, and you are free to do as you wish. Without getting killed of course.

The gameplay is rather simple nightmarishly hard to understand at first, and rightly so. There is no official guide, or manual, or handout that explains what you should do first, and what kind of sick and twisted vegetable soup this is. The graphics in Dwarf Fortress are not very good. In fact, ARE NO GRAPHICS The 'graphics' in this game are ASCII. Computer characters representing a figure in the game. Thankfully, these are not tossed about at random. An Elephant, for instance, is a capital E. If you aren't a fan of this, several community mods Like Phobeus and Ironhand actually add graphics to the game, if a bit primitive. The basis of the game rarely utilizes the mouse. Most of the game is controlled by keystrokes and arrow keys, such as d for designation, d again for mining, and using the arrow keys and enter to select what wants to be mined. Oh, be careful about mining. There is a physics for this game, and if you mine too much without supporting columns, the cavern WILL collapse and brutishly murder your mining Dwarves if they are unlucky.

In itself, the game is brutal and unforgiving. One mistake can mean the end to your fortress (or worse). s there is no way to "win" the game. Every fortress, no matter how successful, is bound to be destroyed somehow; this has prompted the trademark phrase of the community: "Losing is fun."

Rules of Engagement
For those who are not familiar with the rules of engagement, I shall explain the main points here for you. These apply mainly to line battles except for the double gunning rule, you can not do that ever at any time.

1. Try not to be a dick to anyone, trolling or otherwise. We're (mostly) friends here
2. Follow orders and be able to understand what I want. If you are a jackass,
and make us look like we are, then you're gone
3. All admins are to be respected. At least, in public.
4. Don't regiment hop, if you sign up you're expected to stay unless you have a good reason
5. All server, unspoken, and general rules are to be followed.

Recruitment Policy
1. You Must be mature. This means not dicking around when you're told an order
2. You must be able to take a joke and be friendly with everyone in the regiment, and the community
3. You must have basic knowledge of Warband, or the willingness to learn and get better
4. You HAVE to have Teamspeak. HAVE TO. No exceptions
5. Steam is a very easy and useful way to contact members. Not required, but wanted very much.

Where do I sign up?
If you want to join, look over the Recruitment policy and ask yourself questions about that. If you meet the criteria, go to http://13terifles.enjin.com/forum/m/3627861/viewthread/3760265-recruit-templates to see the recruit template. Sign up there and fill it out with a new thread.
