The Great War And Military GIF Thread: Unleash The GIFS of War!
« on: December 21, 2013, 04:28:00 pm »
Alright people, here are the general rules. You can post stuff from fictional sources (IE Movies and games as long as the UI is minimal and the quality is generally decent) as well as documentaries, old film reels and reenactments. Nothing glorifying anything politically is allowed (we'll use the Nazi Nuremberg triumphs of an example) on either extremes of the spectrum.

Parades however are allowed, just as long as they just parades as well as German and Axis units fighting conventionally against enemy forces. Use trust you people to use common sense on either of those issues.

Any arguments about this or politics will be quietly deleted. Here is your tool for those who don't make GIF images the old school way.

Quote

BASIC GUIDE FOR MAKING A SIMPLE GIF!

1) Download the following, Gifcam and GIF Optimizer here!
2) Find a source, either on YouTube or any video sharing website or from a DVD!
3) Pick whatever you want to make a GIF of, drag the Gifcam box around whatever you want to capture and record it. Keep it short and under 25-30 seconds. Past that point it is a movie not a quick animated GIF. The biggest size you should go for is the average size of a YouTube video. The smaller the capture area the smaller the file size too!
4)Use the Gifcam edit function to snip and remove some frames you do not need (right click and turn off Green screen mode to see the frames properly) and then use GIF Optimizer to compress the file into a smaller size for uploading.
5) Upload the GIF to the following places if the size is 2 megabytes or below: Tumblr, IMUGR or TinyPic. If it is bigger than 2 Megabytes I suggest Gfycat. Remember to select GIF mode when you uploaded it!
6) Post in the completed GIF in thread, profit.

Have fun, I'll start by posting some of my own. They are a bit stilted but I'm learning with Gifcam.

How are quote pyramids not allowed and this unspoiled shit is? It's really taxing trying to view all these GIF's at once.

For now on then we'll just keep it two GIFs per post. If you want to post more, feel free to spoiler them. I also find a good service to host these things for free is Gfycat. TinyPic is too slow for me.
