Napoleonic sites in Paris
« on: September 12, 2015, 03:08:08 pm »
Hi all, sorry if I write in this section, but next week (21-26) I'll be in Paris for some work reason, so I thought I could have spent also some time to visit Napoleonic Sites, and which better place to ask if not French sub-forum?

I don't know how much time I'll have exactly, but I would like to have a list. For the moment I've found this: http://www.discoverwalks.com/blog/paris-of-napoleon/

If you know other places that reminds to art, architect, and army please write it here.

Thanks for the help! I'll let you know how it will be  :D

Hôtel des Invalides.

This^

This museum not only features an amazing Napoelonic Era exhibit but has everything you could really want; whether it be medieval, The Three Musketeers era (are they still doing the musketeers?), Franco-Prussian, WW1, or WW2, it has pretty much everything.

In fact, I think this was the best museum I've ever seen in my life. Maybe the Deutsches Museum was better, I'm not sure.  8)

The Boulevard des Maréchaux is ugly as fuck.

'The bronze used for the column was the bronze from the cannons captured from the enemy at the battle of Austerlitz."
Lol. There was so much hatred against the Second Empire that Napoleon's phallus was destroyed by Gustave Courbet during the Paris Commune, so that's quite unlikely.

I would rather go to the subway station (RER) Port Royal. Nothing to see there, but that's the place where Maréchal Ney was shot. You will find a statue of Ney on the avenue de l'observatoire.

If you had been in Paris 1 day earlier, you could have visited the salons de l'Elysée, which are opened to the public once a year. The rest of the year, someone is living there.
