Some people on this forum like myself may enjoy creative writing and along this topic, the sub-topic of poetry. This is a place to share the poetry you make and to help others in peer reviews.

Important: Fellow critique is not about calling a person's world view or other philosophies into question, it's meant to help out with the poem's structure and word choice and tone. Poetry usually is very personal and comes from a sincere place, so calling each other stupid, overly emotional, or insulting a person's character will not be accepted. The poem itself is the only thing under criticism.

Enjoy you sonsofabitches.

Small poetry competition in my state. Submitting these two (along with another one I haven't written yet) for a chance of winning $75 so basically a Pulitzer Prize is at stake here. Nothing ground-breaking, thoughtful, or even that good but if you wanna check em out, here you go:

Reality<---sappy shit mang. no read except 4 orgasm
Spoiler
Amber strands so forgotten, I can’t
Remember the last time I felt like this.

Please, let this tenderness, this
Passion be a sick joke. I can
Handle a sick joke.

Let our passions fly higher than
Any aircraft, do not be tied
Down by what is acceptable.

Our love is acceptable to the only
Person that should matter: me.

Two sets of eyes. One blue and
One green. Together collapse to
Create a great ocean.

Your green keeps me grounded
To the ocean floor, visiting the
Products of our one-way love.

My blue keeps me near the
Warmer surface, assuring me that
This love will someday be two-way.
I told you, I warned you, I loved you.
You didn’t

It was wrong, it was embarrassing,
I should have kept it to myself.
But I didn’t and I troubled you
With my heart.

There are no more words in mouth,
Just a bullet.
You didn’t reciprocate but the
Gun sure as hell did.

That love, that response the 9 millimeter,
The sharpened metal gave to my brain was
The greatest kindness you befell upon me.

You put me and my wrongness
Out of misery and I thank you for it,
As long as your still there being right.

Two sets of eyes. One green and one red.
Together collapse to create another wrong undone.

The green kept me grounded and reminded me
There were no products of our one-way love.

The red floats along the surface
And is followed by a tragedy of
Desperate and loving sharks.

Goodbye Y
Spoiler
This is our banner, our battle standard
Drapery taken off the walls of our homes and
decorated with the scars of indifference,
indifference to suffering, to war, to inequality.

A banner that has been cast aside by the X,
defaced as the most godless and prolific
generation in this nation’s history. The titles of
discredit I proudly wear on my chest.

This is our banner, our guiding light
A Spanish flag torn off a treasure galleon of old,
stitched together by an embrace of acceptance,
acceptance of love, acceptance of our slavery.

Slavery to bought out cadavers on Capitol Hill and Wall Street
that’s corruption of mind is the only thing that trickles down.
Black killing white, white killing black, poor against poor.
A dream for the new American oligarchy.

This is our banner, our road sign to disassociation
A banner built off the killing grounds of Columbine and 9/11
Wars without cause, terrorism with a budget, and prison
sentences for those who get free copies of “Happy Feet”.

A generation of jokers and dark humorists with a fan base.
I make the tasteless jokes not because I think
that they are funny but because the best way to
defeat tragedy is not with a limp hand and frown, but with a smile.

This is our banner, our traffic light at a crowded intersection
A banner with its roots in the most disassociated from society,
A pirate flag that is hung by free thinkers, radicals, and the humorous.
I would ask God to save them, but you see, I am one of them.
