Sadly, my ancestor in the Middle-East was killed by a Turkish shell, I believe.

I think everyone used a bicycle in the war.

and am I the only person who thinks the Gewher 98's Sights are wonky?

Those are from the Turkish G98's, rollercoaster sights up to 2000m.

here's a visorless Stahlhelm of which 5,400 were issued to Turkish troops:

I wish the Warband engine was more flexible, It'd be lovely to have multiple fronts represented by many factions :(.

I believe they said somewhere about finding a way to have more than 5 factions.

I don't mind if they pick either front. I had ancestors serving in both.

I had an ancestor who served in both.

Seriously, being a Colonial troop in WWI sucked.
Do you mind explaining? I can't think of how this worked.

? It's not uncommon knowledge that the Colonial troops were usually the first to be thrown into shitstorm situations. Ypres would be a prime example, they were the first troops who had to deal with the effects of Toxic gas. Many Algerians and Canadians died that day.

I've also got some stories from my Great Grandfather about stuff he saw in the War, but I won't talk about it unless an IE dev gives me the permission.

Despite fighting just as hard as their Western Imperial counter parts, non-white Colonial Troops got the bum deal with attitudes still tinged with 19th century ignorance and racism.

Some Colonial Troops still sadly don't have their own seperate memorials dedicated to their actions during the Great War.

I find it a tad annoying how the Moroccan Tiralieurs have no WWI memorial in France, but the Canadians built one for them in Vancouver.

Russia The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland seems boring, what do they have over other factions to make them interesting.

He means more than 2 factions fighting simultaneously.

After the Battle of Sarikamis against the Russians, the Turks participation in WW1 was over.

Except for Gallipoli actually, but after that they were mostly done. And then after that you've got the independence war when somehow Turkish troops, outnumbered and outgunned, wrecked the Greeks and Armenians occupying their country.

The Colonial troops at Ypres were there by chance. It's not like the French knew the Germans would launch a gas attack there and purposely placed colonial troops there... Colonial soldiers on the Western front were employed in the same way as the white soldiers, claiming that high command always sent them first into the attacks to get the killed is a preposterous claim. Colonial troops were even viewed as elite soldiers, like the French Colonial corps being a prime example. They may have gotten discrimination from white soldiers, but saying they were specifically chosen for suicide missions is a huge misconception.

No, the Ottoman troops still fought hard, for example surrounding the Brits at Kut, and fending off the Brits at Gaza as late as 1917. Saying they were done after a single battle is an oversimplification and a rather uninformed answer.

Well, like I said I do have first hand accounts, but I'd prefer to get a dev's permission in fear of causing a major tangent.

Found a site with WWI color photos, if anyone's interested:
