Enough craptalk about the city of my birth.  >:(

I was talking about Upstate New York, or as I like to call it, Alabama North. Seriously what kind of New Yorkers have fuckin' Confederate flags???

Once at an outdoor party in my neighborhood in the city some trashy Irish family put up a Confederate flag with the words "PADDIES FOR DIXIE" written on it. It was in pretty horrible taste and they were asked to take it down multiple times, which eventually led to a fight between a drunk Irishman and a batshit insane Italian grandma. At the end of the day the flag was still up, except it had a giant rip through the center of it and someone poured their beer on it. Fun.

Well keep in mind that was the only excitement we'd had in my neighborhood for well over a year. Usually the area is pretty quiet, aside from four years ago when some guy strangled and killed a store clerk because she charged him sales tax on a bag of chips without telling him that there would be a tax on it beforehand... even though it's common knowledge. Anyway, don't worry about it heh.

M1911 with a skeleton trigger. I'm not old enough to have a permit yet, but once I do I can finally use that thing outside of hunting and on a range.

Always preferred the .45 pistols over the rudimentary 9mms. Makes sure what you hit actually stays down without being overkill.

Sig are pretty nice. I like the trigger pull on the p224 never had the chance to fire the p226 though.

This is now an arms & ammunition thread. So I was looking to pick up a Mosin because they're incredibly cheap and can be found pretty much everywhere. What are some factors to look for in condition and quality so I can ensure a good buy? I don't want one that's too beat up, but I don't mind if it isn't in pristine condition.

Go to any gun shop ever and you'll find one in decent condition.

Look for a hex receiver if you want something rare and anything made in the 40s is usually good...do you guys want a gun discussion thread? :D

*edit* personal insight I like a rounded receiver with cherry wood finish made in izhevsk arsenal. I hate refurbished mosins with laminated wood etc

http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2011/03/ralph/ralphs-guide-to-buying-your-first-mosin-nagant-9130/

This is a good website on getting your first one but these site generality talking about getting one in person and checking on its condition. Now all mosin will be a little beat up if your looking for one that is built around ww2 naturally  they will be beat up.

Hexagonal receivers were ceased when WW2 began so as a general rule will be better overall finish. And with that note buying one that is pre-war would be better because corners  would be else likely to have been cut because of the demand during the war.
